Not knowing any mechanics in Maryville I went on Yelp and found Shell towing and service. I called them and talked with a nice gentleman by the name of Marshall. He told me he would give my daughter a call and set up having her car towed to there shop. Within 30 minutes Marshall had my daughters car picked up from her house. My daughter told me Marshall made her feel comfortable and safe. Marshall called her after getting her car to the shop and said the starter was out and needed to be replaced and it would be $420 including the tow. So my daughter told him to go ahead with the work. She called me about 30 minutes after that conversation and said Marshall reached out to her again and said her original starter was good but it was missing a bolt so they went ahead and put a new bolt in it and her car was ready to go. My daughter told me her bill was just $120 witch was labor and the tow. Marshall and Shell could have easily said they replaced her starter and taken $420 from my daughter. But they were honest and respectful and made my daughter feel safe. It's really nice having someone who you can call, since as parents we aren't able to be in the same town as our kids all the time. The mechanic (Cole) charged us $200 to tell us he couldn't find any reason our Detroit diesel was losing power, and implied our driver wasn't truthful in saying it was. The driver headed for Lincoln and was still losing power. The driver changed the fuel filter and and it solved the problem. For $200, any decent mechanic should have looked at the fuel filter that was nearly full and at least changed it.
