People often ask me, "Krysztof, you're an artist who depends on fine, fine custom framing for your…read morepin-up drawings...who do you go to to get that done?" And I tell them, "Well, The Frame Gallery on Westport Road, of course!" This place is awesome. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is that they obviously have good taste; and honestly, if someone's going to be putting my artwork in a custom-made frame, I want them to have good taste. It shows that they're going to take the same care with my work's presentation as they do with their own. It says a lot about a place when you can walk in and think to yourself, "Yeah, they get it." The work they do is awesome. Top notch, seriously. I've gone in needing a particular kind of framing for my work, and the entire process of making that happen was effortless. When they saw what I was bringing in, and how I wanted it worked up, they instantly knew the best solution, both in construction and in choice of materials. They're looking at your art with an artist's eye, and the no-nonsense attitude of fine craftsmen. That's who I want working on my artwork, my keepsakes, my gifts to others; not some part-time clerk at Hobby Lobby or Michaels who doesn't have the same care or experience. And as an added bonus : The Frame Gallery has a section in their shop called Tuffboy Antiques! I've spent a lot of time perusing their mostly mid-century treasures and ephemera. Obviously, the same taste and attention to detail that they put into their work goes into what they offer through their Antiques section. I have a feeling that as soon as I get the next batch of stuff back from The Frame Gallery, I'm just gonna bring something else in to get framed...and you should, too!

Note: I'm writing this review prior to picking up the finished projects. Hoping I don't have to…read moreedit the review at that time, but just wanted to offer a huge shout-out to Alex and Juliette for their off-the-chart friendliness and help last weekend. We chose Art & Frame Warehouse simply for location. We live across the river in Atchison, and we were wanting to salvage as much weekend as possible without having to drive downtown or further. I'll admit being a little leery of the strip mall location and the word "Warehouse." Most frame shops I know are kitschy little boutiques in urban locations. Once inside, though, Juliette and Alex convinced us we'd come to the right place. We had four pieces framed . . . an original oil painting we'd picked up on a New Year getaway in the Florida Keys. We had a signed print from another artist and another Florida vacation. And we had two original watercolors by an artist from Kansas City, now deceased, but whose daughter is still a good friend. It was obvious from the outset that the staff at A&FW is deeply invested in customer satisfaction. We spent considerable time - at least an hour and a half - looking at options and having the all-important conversations about the aesthetic and harmony between the work and its matting and framing. Each time we arrived at the "That's it!" moment, we knew it. Alex and Juliette were simultaneously adept at leading us in the right direction, but making sure the final decision was ours. Yes, framing professionals are skilled psychologists to boot. As framing goes, A&FW's prices are about right. It's a slap in the artist's face to display their work in cheap frames. In the end we left knowing we'd not only gotten our artwork framed, but we'd made new friends as well. Alex even carried a framed print we purchased from the gallery all the way to our car. In today's retail world, when many people taking your money won't even make eye contact, that level of customer service is truly rare. As promised I'll update this review after we pick up our paintings and prints in a couple weeks. "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." - Pablo Picasso

Overland Park Art & Frame is a great little mom and pop frame store located in downtown OP. I found…read morethem on Yelp as we purchased some art that we needed framed, and I had read some horror stories about using big box stores like Michaels or Hobby Lobby. Framing has become such a niche specialty that it's hard to find a great little locally owned shop these days, so I'm grateful that this place exists. When I walked in with my print the owner was there and he took the time to spread it out, talk to me about the kind of paper it was on, the best way to choose a frame, and let me explore some different options before we landed on what materials to use. He did let me know about the wait as he is often backlogged for a few weeks/months, and once you drop your art with him you don't pay for it until you come back to collect the finished product. To be honest I considered giving four stars just because it was a few weeks longer than the quote and I had to call a few times to get an updated time frame, I wish they were a bit more proactive on that front as it started to worry me with the cost of the art etc. That being said, once I went in to pick it up it was literally perfect and I could tell that they take pride in what they do. On top of that the owner is genuinely kind and passionate about his work, which to me pushed this place back up into 5 star territory. Overall, it'll take some time, and this store is somewhat old school, but framing is an old school business and it's wonderful to be able to support local and get a top notch product at the same time. I'll for sure come back here next time I need something framed.

The work was done days before it had been promised, and I will definitely recommend this business to everyone. I can't imagine what the other reviewer is talking about. Maybe he should get out more.
