In 1962 I was a paperboy delivering the Miami News, an afternoon paper. I spent a lot of my money on DC comic books, Mostly the Superman family, Flash, Atom, Mystery in Space. I used to look at the Honor House ads and finally bought the water powered Rocket since I was a science geek. I already had a chemistry set, microscope and telescope, a rocket was all I needed. The Rocket performance was outstanding. It flew very high and very fast. It never reached the ridiculously advertised height of 700 feet. My rocket never went over a hundred feet or so, and I know this because I used a crude range finder to measure its altitude. I imagine the company figured a little kid would never know the difference. I rated them 3 stars because of the BS in their ad about flying 700 feet. Obviously, none of this matters, since they have been out of business a very long time. LOL read more

Every night I would pull out some of my comic books and just dream, fantasize and long for the things HONOR HOUSE WAS SELLING. I actually did buy some of their products by mail. The smoke bombs were the most fun and soap that turns your hands black. But remember....in those days 6 to 8 weeks for delivery was the norm. None of this next day delivery stuff. read more
