First off, this place is filthy and the furniture is dirty, broken, and not even straight. Booths are crooked and tables are wobbly. That, unfortunately is the good news. The Chinese food, (Cheesy shrimp? More like popcorn shrimp swimming in melted Velveeta) what there was of it, was horrible. Besides being dry and old, it tasted sour and some of it wasn't even recognizable. I had a plate of it and quickly abandoned that idea. I went back and got mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, and chicken. Two bites in I realized that the chicken was sour. Less than an hour after eating, and almost before I was in my hotel room, I was sweating and trying to get to the bathroom before a very embarrassing event occurred. We went to Hong Kong Buffet yesterday around 5pm and I will say I was pleasantly surprised! It was an excellent buffet that offered both Chinese and American cuisine. I have tried several Chinese buffets in the past and was far from being impressed. However, this buffet was wonderful! The food was beautifully seasoned as well as warm/hot. The egg rolls are delicious and the Crab Rangoon was the best I have ever had. The price is reasonable, $12.95, and they offered a military discount. I want to also mention our server was very sweet, had a smile on her face and eager to please. I'm sorry I don't have her name . We will most certainly visit again before leaving the area. read more

Food was not good. The restaurant was hot. It was a flashback to the Chevy Chase family reunion when he went and ate buffet at the casino.

I will say, the food is not the greatest but will do. now in the other hand the servers need to be trained on health and hygiene. I just saw a waitress take her shoe and rubbed and scratch her feet in the dinning are and continued to served customers with out washing her hand. that is way to nasty to stay. so we just left. do not recommend this place. read more

There is a great selection of choices. My favorite was the chicken rice noodles and the mushroom veggies! The restaurant is very clean and spacious. The staff was very attentive and our waitress Rachel was super nice! So if you are looking for something where everyone can have many choices and plenty of room this is a great choice. Firstly, for a supposedly Chinese restaurant, I was quite disappointed that the hostess didn't speak a word of Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin. I tried both.) I don't believe this place deserves the low star rating it currently has! The variety of foods offered in the buffet were great with average to above average taste. We were staying on Tablerock Lake and wanted some cheap carry out since we couldn't get delivery up where we were staying. We drove into town, dealt with awful Branson traffic, stocked up on liquor at CVS, and asked the checker at CVS to guide us to some takeout Chinese. We struggled up 76 for twenty minutes, finally got to Hong Kong and the buffet left a lot to be desired... It was 6:20ish and it had seemingly been sitting out for a REALLY long time. I wasn't touching the sushi bar, nor anything that wasn't thoroughly cooked. Everything, honestly, was very bland... lacking in flavor. We bought by the pound and I sampled virtually every meat entree they had on the stir-fry component bar. Upon returning to our condo I sampled each item, including the rangoons. Rangoons, no flavor. The Sesame Chicken...no flavor. The Orange Chicken... no flavor. The Bourbon Chicken - even...no flavor. Very very bland. I was frustrated by this, but we decided to chalk it up as a loss, drown our sorrows in the cheap CVS wine, and make it better with gorgeous lake view on Tablerock with 60 degree weather in December. Went to the buffet and loaded up the plate. Kung pow was spiced well. egg drop soup just fine. and I added a baked glazed chicken drumstick. The food overall was decent yet mostly on the bland side. The chicken drumstick was undercooked mild temp and pink on the inside. Took a small piece and ugh tasted bland and microwaved. The restaurant claims all food is freshly cooked daily. Chicken needs to be cooked thru or you may become very sick quick. As for the wait staff 15 mins. in no service to refill my sweet tea. I had to say excuse me to get a waiter to come to my table. I showed him the undercooked chicken and he seemed uninterested and walked away. finally 5 mins. later asian lady comes to my table finally and I show her the undercooked chicken and she replied ok and took away the plate and gave me my bill for the buffet. I was told as I was escorted to my table upon arrival the buffet for lunch was 11.95 and I said ok great. During my dining experience I observed the man and the woman on their phones as well as you could hear a tv show playing in a small side room next to the buffet and I was seated at the other end of the buffet tables. So I go to counter to pay and leave and the lady tells me its 16 dollars and change total. I replied I was quoted 11.95 for the lunch buffet. and now is over 16 dollars???. She simply turned around and pointed to the sign which said it is 2.95 for a beverage. I said ok so it's my fault for not asking the total out the door price before dining right. I said I was not told this. look I can more than afford the 3 dollars however it is deceptive to not be told this when I came in. I said how long have you worked here and she said since 2014. I said most certainly others have said same that the drink price was added to the price. She replied I am the very first person to ever complain about this. I find that to be very hard to be truthful. I also mentioned the chicken which she asked if I told server I said yes the guy I stopped and the asian lady that sat me. The owner of the restaurant came forward and I explained the chicken and the workers on their phones. No apoligies no ok sorry lets take the bev off the ticket or much concern for undercooked food. The experience was not good. Inside the restaurant the whole place is outdated decor and overall dirty. I had to go to the beverage station myself to refill my sweet tea twice as the uncaring staff was busy on their cellphones completely disconnected from service to the customers. Only 8 other people dining in the restaurant. I really doubt the food is freshly cooked daily. Most likely thrown in the coolers nightly and then reheated the following day. I will be bringing this deceptive beverage price not disclosed to diners to the next tuesday aldermans branson city council meeting as it most definitely is not ok to run a business this way. I have lived in Branson for a 1 1/2 years and was really hopeful this would be my new go to place for Chinese food. If you are willing to pass on Chinese food but would like to do a buffet style restaurant go to Grand Country Buffet on the strip or head over to the Pizza Ranch on the 248. These 2 establishments got it right with friendly servers. Very clean and consistent food and drink every visit. I vote with my feet and they will not be landing at Hong Kong Buffet every again. We enjoyed this buffet. Restaurant was fairly clean, it just has a funky vibe to it. The decor is not appealing. Good variety of foods and all foods were kept fresh. The boneless ribs were pretty good though. Soup- count not break the skin layer to get the spoon out ( no soup for me ) Salad bar - not to many items but fresh enough to eat Desert bar - Like someone else posted plentiful , frozen ice milk soft serve, sugar donuts , cookies, cakes and apple and peach cobbler. Waiter service - was there but, did not interact unless they were grabbing the plates we had placed on the table next to us to free up some room (we were 4 adults - 1 kid) at a table for 6. Oh, I think it is something with Branson MO, I could not get away from flies? they are everywhere! So, it did not surprise me when a few came to pester us while we ate our lunch. The food bar small but hey that's ok.... nothing on that bar had flavor and I mean NOTHING. Most of the food looked like it was stagnet , has been sitting even the food that was "fresh" right on the buffet. It really was an odd experience with the food choices that served.... fried chicken pieces next to the sweet for the sweet and sour sauce ? Mash potatoes and white gravy...? I mean It would be nice to think well they are given a variety if those weren't gross and flavorless as well...Im really not one to complain... I pretty much eat anything and everything.... however my family of four were honestly terrified if we continued to eat we would be throwing up along with diarrhea.. to make matters worse we went to the bathroom (my girls and I) came back and my daughters phone was missing off the table.. we went up to the counter to ask about it.. the lady said well can she put the passcode in it... she did and they gave it to us. In the past three weeks, I visited here five occasions, always Drive-Thru as the Dining Room is closed. On each occasion my order was exactly the same - one order of Orange Chicken. On none of the five visits did I receive the same food, even though orders were identical. Quantities varied greatly as did content. One night received a good amount of food, and an egg roll. Next time, no egg roll. Next time, received maybe half the quantity of food, with an egg roll and two crab rangoons.
