First time, horrible. Ceviche was sweet for some reason and they boxed it instead of putting it in a large to go bowl. I had placed the order for pickup and everything was messy. I had also placed the order a half hour ahead for pickup and it still wasn't ready. Had to continue to wait when I got there. The food is defiantly not worth the price. This place is dirty, not friendly, and the food is not good at all. I guess it was a slow day because the place was empty except for the employees. I was pretty much ignored and then it took for ever to get my food. I ordered Togo. When I got home I found that the chicken was uncooked inside. Discovered this place about three weeks ago. Have gone twice and ordered delivery probably five times since then. I'm no conoseur of Honduran cuisine but I've never had food like this and I'm addicted. Might be a mob front, the food is that good. The baledas with their odd cheese and cream are to die for. Been here twice, first time just got a few apps and decided to stay instead of getting it to go so didn't get the whole experience. The 2nd time was just as good but I got to try their chips. Super yum! It has some kind of sauce on them and cheese crumbs. I might get go there again for those. Got the Living Social deal and went on a Thursday with my mom. I was super skeptical when I walked in - looks like a dive bar that turns into a club late at night. The people don't pay attention, and can not follow simple instructions . i ordered a pollo mesapa with fried bananas then they gave me green bananas instead. then i asked for fried bananas for my side plantains then they switched my order and gave me riped bananas instead. I would like to think that having a Salvi mom would give me a discerning palette when it comes to Central American food and I loved the Honduran food here. This was my first time eating Honduran food and this restaurant did not disappoint. First, the service was great. My waitress was Maria and she was very attentive. Our water glasses were never empty which is a sign of good service. She even brought a large bottle to our table in a neat European bottle. She was really friendly and made it a point to explain all the more popular and authentic Honduran dishes to us. I had the Honduran dinner which reminded me of a delicious Salvi breakfast with beans, cheese, cream, rice, eggs, and carne asana. My husband had the arroz con pollo, chicken and rice, which has been voted LA Times best menu item, as per the menu. Both dishes were delicious and had generous portions. We also tried a baliada and a pastelito as appetizers; both lived up to their popularity. I really liked the pickled cabbage with the pastelito. Both big enough portions to share as they also gave us bottomless complimentary chips which came topped with Honduran cheese and salsa. I ordered the Honduran soda of choice, a banana soda, which complemented my food nicely and was refreshing. I can't speak for dessert because Iwe were too full to try it. They also have large screen tv's with soccer and a nice, casual, ambiance. For anyone else wanting to be introduced to Central American food, I recommend the Long Beach location. Poor management... I placed an order over the phone on 1/1/17 around 7:21 pm a lady picked up the phone took the order and told me it would be ready in 25 minutes. I drove 15 miles to try this place, because i heard it was a good restaurant. When i got there, i asked the lady in the counter if my order was ready. I gave her my name and she looked lost. She then went to ask the other people if they taken a phone order and they all said no. After that the ower of the place asked me the same question, what name was the order under then he walked away. I was ignored for 5 min then come to find out that i had to reorder again because nobody could clearly take an other over phone. I was finally asked to give them my order again and to wait an addition 20 min. Mind you that the ower did not show no type of interest of this situation or even apologized for the inconvenience. On top of all this chaos for ordering food, when i received the order of "pastelitos" i took a bite of it, and looked down at the plate it was full of oil. My wife and I had to come to Long Beach to take care of some things and we stumbled across this absolute Gem of a Resturant. The interior is clean and welcoming. You can instantly tell that they have dancing in the evenings and it feels lively even when the place is empty. The tables are well spaced and it's easy to breathe while you enjoy the amazing food. Our server was polite and had a wonderful smile. Then she brought the chips. Oh so light and crispy hot and fresh. With their own Honduran style sauce. BANGIN. Not spicy but oh so flavorful. At this point I knew we were in for a treat. I had the Bistake and my wife had the chicharron. We shared a ceviche. This place blew me away. The ceviche is one of the best I've ever had. It had something in it I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out. The fish was fresh, the mix of seasonings was perfect. The presentation was far higher class than I expected and the flavors were deep and surprising. Everything was cooked to perfection with distinct sauces for each part of the dish. At the end we shared a desert but I can't remember the name. It was 3 corn cake rings in a thick Carmel glaze. My mouth took over the rest of my senses and it was blissful. Almost enlightening. I would and will drive back to Long Beach just to eat here. A 2 hour drive is nothing to experience food like this.
