This a new awesome place for me. The music is func pretty authentic but not loud. Tvs are on showing soccer. The inside is kept at a cool temperature is very nice decorated. The tvs do not take away from the fact it can be date like. The food is delicious and enough to make a grown man full. The prive varies from 8 to 16 for meals. I had soup de res ($12) and honduras steak plate ($10) (the name had honduras but wasa bit different than this). Thank you for the decor and great food! !!!! read more

It turns out the old adage "don't judge a book by its cover" also applies to restaurants. Do not be deterred by the lackluster street presence! Honduras' Kitchen has phenomenal food (a culinary experience for those who have never tried Honduran food!) at reasonable prices. This place is great ! The waitress was attentive. She would come to my table every 10-15 mims after the food arrived. They offer free samples on drinks. Each entree is 11$+ ea but well worth the authentic food. Everything was made to order. You could taste the freshness is every bite ! read more

they serve a huge scoop of butter on your plate with your food. one of my friends met up and commented on the scary outside surroundings. i disagreed (its 4th street, its gritty but fine!) but upon leaving the restaurant almost tripped over 5 sketchy dudes sitting on the sidewalk in front. it helps tremendously to speak spanish here. the beer from honduras is good. make sure you get the plaintain fried, not dried banana-chip style. the restaurant was empty at 8pm on a thursday night, save for two men watching soccer. this added to the authenticity for me. read more

This restaurant is a place I have recommended and taken many friends to since one of my girlfriends and I visited here for the first time last year. Before you order, they serve you chips in a light tomato sauce with cotija cheese. Simple and yet so good! I think we ate two baskets last time! Lol Have you ever had a Baleada?? If you haven't, get the special: six Baleadas for 7.50; they're amazing!! El Pollo Mesapa, el Bistec Embecollado y San Pedro Sula are also my favorites. The service is fantastic and it's a great place to go during the day for lunch as parking can be challenging in the evening. Keep in mind they are closed on Tuesdays! Alright, even though I eat out ALL (and I do mean ALL the time), I never rate restaurants but felt compelled to rate this one. First of all as some of you have written, it is an experience like none other in California. I love the Caribbean and South America so this place had an ambience albeit not fancy that made me feels as if I was in another country. They were off to an excellent start with that! Now i will rate service, food and value. SERVICE: When we went, there were only two other tables in the entire restaurant so not much demand of the servers. They were nice but painfully slow. Unfortunately, it took over an hour for us to get our food. We had come here on a groupon and were paying partially with cash. We presented a credit card and they had to call someone at a different location to process my card and asked for my security code. If you have every been a victim of identify theft, you know this is a no no. We completed payment in cash after it took an additional 15 minutes for them to process the groupon and credit card payment. I go out to eat because I am hungry and don't want to cook so to wait an hour is totally unacceptable. For service I would rate 1 star. FOOD: I was salivating when I saw the menu. However, when the food arrived, I am sad to say that the rice and beans were overcooked and soupy, the plain rice was a bit undercooked and crunchy, my pastelitos were actually burnt to the level that the consistency was more of a potato chip than a pattie and a part of the chicken was actually burnt to the bone. The ripe plantains and camarones al la plancha were excellent! The Carne Guisada was ok. Just too much went wrong with the three meals and appetizers that were ordered. For food, I would rate 2 stars. VALUE: Even without the groupon, the price for food that you just cannot find without traveling out of the country, is a good deal. The portions are average but you leave feeling gratified. 3 stars for value OVERALL: I would give this place a second try just because it takes you away from the ever so boring traditional California fare and there are some incredible options on the menu. Awesome carne asada with green plantains. Food is 5 stars. BUT expect a hole in a wall restaurant though and a waitress that speaks spanish only. The place is a 1 star with a creepy apartment complex next door. Eat during lunch time if you're eating out alone or take it to go. The food is worth going back to. Delicious! Husband and I had gone to the Huntington Park location a couple of weeks prior and had a subpar experience so we were hoping the Long Beach location would redeem the Honduras Kitchen name. Luckily, it did! Of course we had the baleadas. The tortillas were super soft and there was plenty of filling that was perfectly proportioned. I had the San Pedro Sula as my entree and husband had the Desayuno Hondureno. I love the combination of the sweet plantain with the savory meat filling of the San Pedro Sula. My husband's dish had a little bit of all the staples, plantains, eggs, beans, meat and all had great flavor. The waiter/manager was great. He took note of our complaints about the other location and seemed genuinely interested in improving his client's experience. Unfortunately, this location is a little out of our way so we'll give Huntington Park location another shot before taking it off our go-to list. read more

I have been here 3 times and I crave their food. Yeah, you may have to point to the menu if you don't speak English and the food takes some time to come and the place is a little rough, but the food is awesome. My Bf and I went here because of the good reviews & we had a groupon. We ordered arroz con pollo and the conch ceviche. Our food took 40-45 min to get to us!! They were not busy and only 2 other tables of 2-3 people. I also never got a refill on my water that I asked for. I ran out of it before I got the meal. The food itself was ok. The arroz con pollo was good, but the concha ceviche was not worth $16. There was an excessive amount of onions and the portion was very small. Our bill took 15-20 min to get because the server couldn't figure out how to redeem the groupon. So we spent 90 min there and only ate for 15 min of it. I don't know if I'll come back, maybe only for their lunch specials but definitely not for dinner! read more

Honduran heartbreak! We had such high hopes based upon the reviews. The first disappointment was the cold, sparse interior. But then there was a bright spot - the world's nicest, friendliest staff. Sadly this was followed by another disappointment in the form of the food. The Sopa de Caracol was salty and the conch pieces were huge and leather like. I had a difficult time getting through the conch with a knife. The Pollo Mesapa was better, but not extraordinary. Food here is amazing. Their arroz con pollo is my favorite and everything always tastes fresh. Service was excellent the one time I dined in although the location is kind of random and I mostly order delivery now. The only problem with their delivery is that unless you're ordering one of their more popular items they tend to show up with a surprise that may or may not be what you actually ordered. I can understand how this might be frustrating for some people but I honestly don't have a problem with it because I don't have any food allergies I'm not very picky and I love to try new things. Everything I've ordered here has been amazing. If you're getting delivery and are particular about customizing your order i recommend calling it in rather than just ordering online. read more

After living near this place for over a year, I finally decided to try it after purchasing a Groupon. The food was absolutely wonderful and very reasonably priced without the Groupon. I had the coconut soup and a beleada as an appetizer. Everything was absolutely delicious. It is rare to find Honduran food in LA. As a foodie and Long Beach resident, I haven't been too impressed by the food in this city, but I have to say this place is an absolute gem.
