We hired MJP Flooring (Miguel) to install new tile in the kitchen and hallway and refinish hardwood…read morefloors in the bedrooms and living/dining room. The tile mechanic, Jose did a good job and was very accommodating and pleasant to work with. The floor refinishers were another story. Of the three workers he left on the job, one doing the edging continued working. The other worker listened to loud music, sat on the floor with a drink and loudly sang along with the radio and did a minimum amount of work. The drum sander was either inexperienced, untrained or careless because he started with a very coarse sandpaper but never moved to succeeding grits of finer sandpapers, which left deep scratch marks in the hardwood. As a retired CT licensed home inspector and licensed home improvement contractor, I felt qualified to evaluate this job. When I explained to Miguel why I wasn't happy with the job and asked him to re-sand the floor he refused and came back the next morning to add another coat of finish which did nothing to smooth out the scratches. When he returned the following day, I told him the floor was no better and again asked him to re-sand the floors which he again refused. I subsequently hired another floor refinisher who correctly re-sanded the floors and they came out beautiful. Two days later Miguel called me for a final payment. I told him I had fired him and hired another company to redo his job. He threatened to go into the house and rip out all the tile. I immediately called Meriden Police and explained what had happened and they called Miguel and told him if he entered the house he would be arrested, whereupon he left the property. In addition, Miguel left many bags of sawdust, tile and tile cement on the front lawn and in the house which he had promised to remove. I cannot recommend this company.

His quote was actually the most reasonable, but he was also the most responsive roofer we had met with. He was the only one who actually got up on our roof to see what was going on, and even did a few other projects for us during the roofing project. He removed an old lean-to on our garage that was hit by a fallen tree limb, and took the chimney down to the attic floor, since it was no longer being used. His large team worked very hard, and he texted us pictures throughout the entire process, since we were out of town while the work was being completed. He was extremely attentive to our many questions and reminders. His team cleaned up all the nails and shingles, and they even removed some leaves and the large tree limb from the garage. I highly recommend John and his team if you are looking to get a new roof!

I found Luis when I initially created a project to field some quotes for replacing some old carpet…read more Among the 3 vendors that responded and provided quotes, he was the most competitive. Eventually, a quote request for paint also reached him and he was able to provide a quote for painting the entire property as well. Throughout the whole project, he was very responsive and provided picture updates periodically to show the progress. The final project was to replace roughly 1000 square feet of old carpet with luxury vinyl planks and to repaint all walls into one uniform color. Since it was two separate projects, I decided to hire Luis so the work can be done seamlessly. The initial quote also included replacing the existing baseboards but Luis reached out when they were removing the planks that most of it could be saved and repainted. He was able to save me almost $500 on the project. I did have some doubts at first as he did not have any reviews on Yelp at the time when I reached out in early Aug'24. After having the quotes and meeting his partner, Leonardo, I decided to proceed. The work was quick, around 1 week from start to finish and the place was left pretty much spotless. Will definitely recommend to anyone needing work done in the MA/CT/RI area!
