The staff and volunteers are passionate and work hard. This is a tough line of work taking care of animals who have been tossed away.

I started volunteering at Paws in May sometime... I go…read morethere as much as possible or when I get a chance... I love this place because it makes me feel good when I am around the cats,,, I love taking pictures of the cats too... I love this lady named Sharon and I have learned so much from her.... She makes my day every time I go there...

I volunteered to become a foster parent. I fostered 3…read morekittens that were orphans. Sharon the owner/the woman who runs this shelter told me that the "family" that dropped them off were completely unreachable. So she asked me to foster them. The day I picked them up I expressed openly that I would want to adopt them (being as they were orphans). One employee and the previous foster mom who passed them to me told me that was possible. Over 3 weeks later we received a phone call from Sharon saying that she had made a mistake and that the family wanted them all back. After the fact that several foster homes raised them during the difficult stages. Of course this was very upsetting and heartbreaking to me and my family. Come to find out she wasn't being truthful about the situation. We were told that it was 1 family that was out of town on a vacation to Europe. But the truth came forth that it wasn't 1 family but yet 3 different people. We have no idea what was in it for her financially but this seemed wrong. I received thereafter a phone call from the police dept. telling me that she was stating that me and my family had stolen these kittens. Demanding their return. This came as an incredible shock to us and our children. Who has done nothing but love, and care for these babies for weeks! My children are devastated to have to have said goodbye to 3 sweet souls that they grew to love. With reluctance we arranged a time and day to return them to her care, to avoid any legal issues. She then proceeded to accuse us of not returning the correct kittens. Again I received another call from the police dept. I just want anyone and everyone to be VERY aware of this shelter and this woman before considering adopting from them. My understanding of a shelter is to give animals a loving home and keep them off the streets. Obviously this is not her/their intent. My want to help and foster has been completely tarnished and I am now scared to ever try and help again. We hope that every animal in need finds a loving home and we would hope that this entire staff of people will find their way back to the intent of this business.....

Also complain to Petsmart where you adopted these dogs/cats if there's issues with information, & call backs. Petsmart has a application process which screens adoption groups. You have to list and give info when you wish to use their facility to adopt out pets. I tried myself for a bird club and we don't screen lost and abandoned birds when members accept surrendered birds. So we didn't qualify by Petsmart standards. Talk to the Petsmart Manager. I myself never adopted from this organization.

I adopted a kitten at a PetSmart Adoption event in Happy Valley Oregon in October 2012. The group…read morewas from Eastern Oregon. The animals were in good condition and humanely crated. It was the first time I did this and thought it was a good partnership. I donated money to PetSmart charities based on this event. Here is what I read about the PetSmart Adoption in Wilsonville Oregon in December 2012 from this website http://www.statesmanjournal.com/article/20130116/NEWS/301160068/Neglected-dogs-m-glad-we-g ot-her-out-there- Kaitlyn Smith remembers the horror she felt when she first laid eyes on the puppy that she and her husband, Josh, adopted at an event in front of Petsmart in Wilsonville in December. Ali, a sheltie mix, was soiled with feces and the couple immediately noticed that she was very boney. Ali also had sores all over her body. But despite the puppy's poor health, Smith recalled, she wasn't nearly as bad off as the other dogs at the adoption event. "She wasn't as skinny as the other dogs," Smith said. "She had a skin infection on her body, but we were told she got that from the previous shelter." Smith said she and Josh watched in horror as individuals at the adoption event wheeled around 20 puppies on carriers, with as many as four dogs crammed in crates designed to hold one cat. It was sickening," she said. "I kept looking at my husband saying 'There's something wrong here.' " After waiting many long minutes, the woman the Smiths had contacted about adopting Ali, then-president of Willamette Animal Rescue, Alicia Inglish, showed up to the event. "When I met Alicia, she was very awkward and very disorganized," Smith said. "Because Ali was filthy, they took a wet paper towel and wiped (her) down. The smell was horrific." HOW DID EMPLOYEES AT THIS STORE NOT THINK THIS WAS A PROBLEM? A REPUTABLE SHELTER WOULD HAVE BATHED ANIMALS AT A MINIMUM. A REPUTABLE SHELTER WOULD NOT HAVE CRAMMED 4 DOGS INTO CAT CRATE. WHO OVERSEES THIS PROGRAM AT THE STORE AND CORPORATE LEVEL? HAVE THESE EMPLOYEES BEEN FIRED OR REPRIMANDED? I WANT TO SEE PETSMART ESTABLISH MANDATORY REPORTING THE SAME WAY OREGON LAW REQUIRES MANDATORY REPORTING OF CHILD ABUSE. AT THE LEAST, PETSMART ENABLED A SCAM FOR MONEY TO CONTINUE UNDER THE GUISE OF CARING FOR ANIMALS. AT THE WORST, PETSMART ENABLED AN ANIMAL ABUSER. I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN.

I got her for my husband who had Parkinson's and she immediately knew her Job was to be his buddy. He sadly passed away in November so now she is my BFF. OFOSA is an AMAZING organization to adopt through. They match families based on personality (what…read morethe family is,) and match it to their potential kitty. (It is likely the same for dogs, I don't know.) We first heard of OFOSA through Instagram and followed our Oscar (formerly Drizzle, of the "Sky Kitten" litter,) from his small beginnings as one of 8 and his mama. His foster mom clearly loves each kitty, kitten and older kitty, as her own from the minute she receives them. I was a foster before I had kids, and it's a hard and thankless job from most adopters. They have no idea the love and emotion that goes into raising a healthy kitty only to see them go home and never see them again. We originally wanted the female calico, Sunny, in the litter. My daughter, who is 8 1/2 lost her "soul mate kitty" in February of 2019 and asked for a kitten, so we thought about it and the timing of this litter worked perfectly with our plan to allow her to pick a kitten. When it came to choice time, we did a blind family vote. We wrote down numbers and read the character traits out. Sunny placed last for us all. She wasn't who we should adopt. But when we tallied it up, Drizzle was our CLEAR first place. Cuddly AND playful was what we were looking for and that's exactly what we got. We adopted him almost a month ago, on 12/11/21 and he very quickly won our hearts. He's 16 weeks now and he's a frisky and mischievous little kitten with loads of energy and spunk. He is an absolute love as well. One day when it's time for another kitty, we will absolutely be doing this same process again. He couldn't be a better fit with us. Thank you SO much OFOSA. We LOVE Drizzle now Oscar Roy Drizzle or as I like to call him Oscar Roy "the Driz" Kent (after Roy Kent from Ted Lasso.) We are eternally grateful for his care prior to being our forever kitty by his wonderful foster mom Angela.
