Mike Schirmer came highly recommended to me and I am thankful that he was. As this is an extremely busy season for property sales, he answered my voicemail within a couple hours and asked me some great questions to understand my needs. He explained the process and then we scheduled the next available spot for the inspection, a couple weeks from that call. He arrived on time and got to task immediately, He knows that I have severe mold allergies and had issues with my prior home. He made sure to thoroughly check the home for such issues. He also took detailed pictures of anything he felt needed to be repaired and by whom (owner or HOA) per the bylaws. In addition to his reporting, he explained every electronic outlet, fixture, explained how the water softener works and how to replace the filter and salts, where the water pressure valve was and how to use it. He gave me suggestions on making the home more energy efficient and suggested calling Efficiency Vermont and GMP to get best deals and rebates on upgrades. The detailed report he sent to me included high quality images with details on each image. I have attached one of those here. I cannot emphasize what a sincere pleasure it is to work with Mike. His guidance and sharp eye for details is invaluable.

He did not mind us peering over his shoulder as he worked. We never felt we were bothering him and he gave us such a peace of mind once concluded that we felt confident we knew everything about the house. My girlfriends dad tagged along and he was very impressed with Mike as well and felt very confident he would produce the best report which means a lot to us. Our realtor was with us as well and he had nothing but good things to say about the inspection process and reports in the days that followed. We received our full home inspection report the following evening in a pdf format. We received the water and radon test results three days later and then a hard copy in the mail the following week. He was actually a little early at the property and was able to do some of the exterior inspection before I arrived. He walked through the whole property with me, including the out buildings and helped to sort out some property boundary questions that I had. His descriptions of the building and its systems were detailed but he didn't talk over my head with contractor jargon. He was down to earth, friendly and thorough.
