I highly suggest liking their Facebook page to be in the known of their latest activities. They offer classes as well. They manage to have the best musicians perform there. Staff is helpful & cordial. So far I haven't had a bad experience here, this why it deserves a 5 star & a warm recommendation. Close to the Bruxelles Central Station, it's easily accessible. It's close to other tourist spots like Grand Place.

I enjoyed and appreciated the exhibition. I enjoyed wandering through the art gallery and admiring different pieces of art from Mexican artists. I would strongly suggest visiting this museum, it's a must add to your list of things to do when in Brussels. Also if you have not had the pleasure of viewing Frida's work, then rent the documentary or movie, it's fabulous to watch. Not only is the museum well worth seeing but the area is wonderful to roam around too!

Magnificent and magical experience - it was a sight for my eyes to behold!!! But I do think park…read moremgmt has to do a better job with parking and also getting more park benches, hence while its 5 stars showing, in reality it's more like 4.5 from me. There's a great park ranger blog you can follow (and best of all its in English) and they post videos + pics and so that's what I have been doing since mid-March, as didn't want to miss the hyacinth flowering like had done last year. Last Friday the blog showed a sea of blue and since they flowers have a short flowering season of 2 weeks, a group of 5 of us left around noon and then got to Hallerbos 40 mins later. Parking was really horrible and we finally got some a long way from the park entrance. We found the blue marker near parking lot #2 and set off down the trail, sorta disappointed not to see that many hyacinths covering the wood floor as had expected. Encountered lots of tree stumps along the trail way that had been converted into stools to sit upon. About the halfway point, there was a long steep hill and when we reached the top and from the corner of my left eye, to paraphrase the poet: When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of blue hyacinths... beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. I just stopped and stared in wonder and turned around in a circle because all around me, I was surrounded by blue undergrowth. I felt had wandered into a sacred, special place and luckily it wasn't too crowded, so we all just co-existed, marveling at natures bounty. The hyacinths were numerous in number now and we continued our walk, upto parking lot 8, where all the trails converged and had great ice-cream for an €1 per scoop which was totally worth the wait in the long line. This is when I sorta felt let down because here was this great open space, and only one park bench? C'mon!! Surely park mgmt can do better! However this is a minor gripe, cause if you live in Belgium and don't come and see this beautiful sight that welcomes spring you are totally missing out!

A lot of pedestrian, horse rider and bicycle ways exist to explore the wood and its surroundings (more extended than expected - my legs are still hurting ! ). Since hyacinths do need sun to grow up, the wood is bright and light. Walking, sun taning AND enjoying the smell of the flowers is the perfect combination for a Sunday afternoon a few minutes away from Brussels. Little tip : you can follow the blossoming of the flowers on the website http://www.hallerbos.be/.

You can buy anything or everything at Les Abattoirs et Marchés d'Anderlecht…read more As a tourist, it is a good place to see where the locals shops for their staples. Seriously, it is like a flea market, antique market, farmer's market and much much more. Everyone here with their shopper carts on wheels shopping like there is no tomorrow! There is also live stock: rabbits, ducks, chickens, pigeons (And I keep wondering do they sell them as pets or as food?) The experience can be quite overwhelming but it was worth going there and checking it out if you have time. A Carousel with Real Donkeys?!

Who doesn't love visiting a foreign Meat Market, right? But from the massive scale of this Market, we got side-tracked and detoured away from Vleesmarkt - Marche aux viandes. What I did see was a never-ending sea of locals, mostly ethnic origins in a frenzy packed like sardines moving forward at a frantic pace through the non-existent openings of walkway blocked by people after people, merchant after merchant. Imagine New York City density, market the size of a small airfield, the products for sale of a bargain flea market. - Fruits: Occupies a quarter of the space, but why every stall is repetitive? - Goods: Low quality clothing, toys, antiques, old machinery, furniture - Spices: A few stalls of selling Middle eastern spices and dried fruits - Prepared Food: Meat and charcuterie where most people eat a type of hotdog - Animals/Pets: Affordable animals, a popular stall for children and tourist alike It was a cultural experience more than a shopping experience in my opinion. My friend kept wondering why all the food stalls were lined with Men-only purchasing food but it turns out this is an African area district. I can see why it was so popular amongst the locals in the area and the cars align the outer streets even risking traffic tickets. Along my trip strolling through centrale Brussels, I did notice smaller local convenient shops displaying fruits and vegetables outside their shop doors and now I know where some of them get their produce. Is it worth your weekend to possibly get trampled and pushed around to purchase directly from the Market itself rather than your local shop depends on how adventurous you really are. If you're looking for a touristy market like Jatujak in Bangkok, you're in the wrong place but if you're looking to be part of a local flavor and excitement in a market where the ground is littered with smashed fruits giving off that orangey scent, this is for you!
