The staff speak Spanish and very few speak English in fact we have not come across any staff that did to tell you the truth. So brush up on speaking Spanish!!! The tellers are friendly and there is a person that bags your groceries and you are required to tip. This location is a superstore, which carry groceries, clothes, household products and more. I was kind of creeped out by this as it was as if they were expecting violence. All the usual high end brands are here: Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dolce & Gabana, Prada, Tiffany, Cartier, Rolex. It was not busy when I visited & I wonder if this part of La Isla is ever busy. I just don't imagine most visitors to Cancun shopping for high end merchandise. It is the same price as in the US. The only difference was that if you made a purchase, you could possibly get the 9% tax refunded on leaving Mexico. You just need your credit card, store receipt, passport, immigration form & flight ticket. That said, Golden Goose had me complete the form online and I never received the refund :'-(

That's when I glanced over and spotted this gem! I had never heard of Pineda Covalin before so I decided I'd Google the store before walking the 30 feet to check them out in person :) Low and behold what do I spot, gorgeous silk scarves. Honestly, the beautiful male and female models standing outside of their door also did the trick at catching my eye. I was curious! Do these two stunning individuals work for this store or are they possibly fellow travels looking like they just stepped off of the runway. Hey, models are abundant these days in Cancun - with everyone visiting Tulum I wasn't quite sure. Now, I know! They were models and however much they get paid it worked to lure me in and make a purchase. I walked over to check out the goods and loved the friendly service and introduction to the line. Created by two designers Cristina Pineda and Ricardo Covalin the lines purpose is to share the richness of Mexico traditions through its products. I really liked several designs but ended up selecting a very beautiful bright piece that looks great against a tan ;) They also made sure to ask if I wanted the tax refund form which was nice. Before boarding my flight I went over to submit this paperwork. Tax free shopping for visitors is always a plus. They accept USD and pesos but since I was fresh out of pesos I paid in dollars. Save your time and don't waste your pesos on garbage, if you are looking for a beautiful reminder of your Mexican vacation Pineda Covalin is a great store. I look forward to looking up the line in the future for other new designs. You can say they are the Hermes of Mexico ;) Luxury silk at its finest.

I am writing this to bring attention to a serious scam that occurred inside your Walmart 24h store…read morein Cancun. During my visit, a man named Mike, wearing a Walmart name tag, approached us inside the store and offered what he claimed was an official Walmart promotion: * 6 round-trip ferry tickets to Isla Mujeres * A full-day golf cart rental * Lunch on the island * Hotel pickup All for USD $120, with a $30 deposit. He repeatedly assured us that he worked for Walmart, not any resort, and that it was NOT a timeshare sales pitch. However, later that night he messaged us saying the pickup would be changed to 8:00 AM so he could take us to another resort for breakfast -- something we never agreed to. When we insisted on sticking to the original 9:30 AM plan, he showed up the next morning and again pressured us to go to the resort to attend a 1.5-hour presentation, which was obviously a timeshare scheme. When we refused, he told us the trip was canceled and that our $30 deposit was being kept by his "boss." He then claimed we would have to return to Walmart to get it back. Before we could even discuss it further, he jumped onto a bus and disappeared. This was misrepresentation, dishonesty, and a clear scam -- all happening inside Walmart premises, by someone wearing a Walmart name badge. I am requesting: 1. Walmart Cancun to investigate how scammers are operating inside your store while appearing to be legitimate staff. 2. The resort involved to take responsibility for using deceptive tactics to lure tourists into timeshare presentations. 3. A refund of the $30 deposit that was taken under false pretenses. 4. Measures to ensure this does not happen to other visitors. Tourists should feel safe inside a well-known retailer like Walmart -- not targeted by scammers pretending to be staff.
