I put out a few blues CDs but it wasn't until I hired Wavelength that I received radio airplay. Imagine my decades of frustration gone! Harry Watters and Bobby Dickerman convinced me that blues programs were too small so they crossed me over into FM radio stations. I was completely blown away. The stations were playing my stuff with Eric Clapton, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Aerosmith. Within a few months, I got invited to play a huge jazz and blues festival. What I love about Wavelength is that they take the time to get the job done right. These guys know what they're doing, and I will hire them again for my next album.

I'm a channel flipper. I hear a commercial or a radio ID break and I scan to a new station…read more I don't have to skip stations with K-Mozart 105.1, though. For the past month I have been listening to this free public FM radio station. I have yet to hear a commercial. My only problem is the same problem I have with all radio stations, TV channels, podcasts, and so on... when the music stops, I can barely hear the DJ at times. I turn up volume to hear their interpretation of the symphony and the history of the music... then BLARING MUSIC CONTINUES. I thought the FCC was supposed to fix this ages ago. I've been infatuated with classical music since I began playing the flute in middle school. For whatever reason, it seems to ground me particularly while I'm driving all over Los Angeles County. Perhaps because I can use my imagination? Perhaps because there are no lyrics? No politics associated with it like there is with other genres? My 7 and 8-year-old say they can't wait to go to the symphony with me. I guess this means they enjoy this music too even when they have their headphones connected to their iPads. Thanks, K-Mozart. I see according to your FCC application you'll be around for a while longer. The license expiration date is 12/01/2029. Until then, I'll tune in as much as I can. TIP Also available on AM 1260. You can also play directly from their website at https://kmozart.com or download their app from the App Store or "Get it on Google Play."

Lucy Worsley's 12 Days of Tudor Christmas again airs December 4, 2020, locally on PBS SoCal,…read moreChannel 28 and probably many times after during the Christmas season. Check your local PBS station. Lucy Worsley has the knack of being scholarly and tremendously whimsical all at once. An excellent Christmas offering, Ms. Worsley presents the customs (sometimes horrifying feasting, but perhaps not to gourmands) of sixteenth century English life. Insight into Henry VIII's demands and requirements (there is no "off with her head" here) do differ greatly, but things never do change really. Seeking merriment might not have been easy for the regular folk, but seek they did. The twelve days of Christmas, as some may know, begins on Christmas and ends on January 5 as we see while following Ms. Worsley through the days. While not discussed in this program, the very familiar Christmas song, the "Twelve Days of Christmas" has a hidden meaning, often liturgical, behind each verse.
