Switched to this school because even in the "best" schools CMS was failing my son. It's been a great experience so far

The building is horribly maintained. They are so greedy. They don't care about students mental health. Most teachers do not care about you.

Unprofessional. Parents are off the hook. Maybe they're upset they spent so much for schooling. They were yelling at refs and players. One dad, with the video camera, was an embarrassment to all. Whining like a little kid to the refs. Other parents were trying to get him to calm down, but couldn't. This guy is a real a-hole. His son must hate him. Players are disrespectful trash talking hackers. But I blame the coach and parents. We won by the way.

Students are mean, both girls and boys. If you want your child to be healthy and reasonably whole, don't sent your kid to this school. The cruelty is limitless, much worse than in public school. Beware if your kids shadow too, I heard some girls talking late spring amongst themselves breaking down a student who shadowed, ridiculing her social media, basically stating that she was a piece of trash and not only unvaluable to them as a human, but someone to be hated. There is nothing Christ-like about the students, they are horrors upon horrors. Consider yourself warned.

The South Park Regional had a fair collection of books and materials for the younger set, but really excelled at games and toys for engaging kids ... they even had a little cabin the kids could go in. The library itself was newish, clean and easy to get to, with available free parking ... although it is oftentimes full. Unlike some other libraries in the district, this one had more library things for kids to play with, but fewer library materials (books and puzzles). Still and all, nice library and recommended.

Libraries today aren't as quiet as they used to be, but I had plenty of space at my table to be comfortable with my book, notepad, pens, & highlighters. I actually enjoyed being in earshot of a teacher tutoring a student and giving the parent an update. Was very pleased to find the ladies restroom clean. Would definitely return here for study time, if necessary.

Waddell Language Academy and now it's headed back to being the high school for the 2023-24 school year. Or so I read, https://www.wfae.org/education/2022-08-24/cms-officials-say-they-need-more-time-for-waddell-high-school-magnet-plans. But for today, it's my local polling place. There aren't too many things that we need to do to fulfill our civic duty. One is to perform jury duty. Another is to vote and today, I voted. While there are options for early voting and voting by mail, if I'm at home on the second Tuesday of November, I'm going to vote in person. That's how it should be. This was a well organized poll. This morning, pretty quiet. I guess that by this evening, it will get busier though it's not a Presidential election year and most people don't get out of bed for midterm elections which is a shame. It is as expected with a campaigning exclusion zone where candidates and their signs are outside the (100 yards? 150 yards?) including one who asked me to vote for her daughter and another taking a position on the bond issues. Inside signs with arrows saying "VOTE" and pointing the way to the gymnasium. Poll workers getting names (no ID required in North Carolina) and checking the voting register. Another poll worker leading the way to the actual machines. And a final one to feed the ballot into the counting machine. Super easy, and this morning, super quick. I've done my civic duty. Note that it is illegal in North Carolina to take a photo of your ballot so don't do that! [Review 18564 overall - 3339 in North Carolina - 2086 of 2022.]

It has taken time to reveal the extent of the damage to his heart. We put a lot of hope in this being the perfect school for our 4 kids. Great leadership - my favorite celebrity pastor on the Board. The best theology. Challenging academics. Strong community. We could not find a school like this anywhere else. What could go wrong? The kids. The kids here know exactly how to appear as Christians and give right answers and charm adults to win the coveted "Best Christian" awards. But they step on each other to elevate themselves rather than lending a hand to lift each other up. It is a very competitive place in sports and academics and cut-throat socially. It is NOT a wholesome place. These kids are on their phones absorbing and propagating the exact same messages you are hoping to pay for a Christian school to get away from. There are family names at this school and their kids could get away with murder and they know it. If your child is one of their hapless victims, the school would just tell you to pursue Matthew 18 and say reassuringly, "Sin is everywhere." The bullying among the kids is the worst I have ever seen or heard of. It absolutely totally broke our 5th grader and he was only there for a few months. He had been very sheltered his whole life at a small Christian private school, so when he got to this school, the boys in his grade quickly took advantage of that for their own entertainment and mocked, degraded and brutalized him until he believed them - that he was indeed a gay a** pu***. This actually may be the most expensive private school you ever send your kid to, because the messages he absorbed here about himself and the therapy he needs now are exorbitant...there is no end in sight and we are praying for God to do a miracle in his life. But the kids would not be empowered to be the way they are without the adults at this school enabling them. All the adults smile and pretend like everything is fine because they are horrified at the idea of confronting one another or offending any of the "important families." They are all cowardly people-pleasing addicts who care more about maintaining their own spot-in-the-pecking-order than putting that at risk to protect and defend a child who desperately needs a hero. I can't not write a review because I sure wish we'd been warned before entrusting this place with my children.
