BEAUTIFUL CHURCH AND MASS…read more We attended Sunday mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Voyage located in the Seaport district. It is a small church that replaced the original church that historically served local fishermen and dockworkers. Parts of the original church such as old model ships are part of the church. The priest was very down-to-earth and gave a sermon sharing his own life experiences. There was an organist and a baritone singer. Apparently many tourists attend this church so as part of the service, he asked us where we were all from - we learned that we came from different US cities as well as Germany and Australia.

I have no interest in going to Mass at a Boston Archdiocesan church. My husband and I tried The Paulist Center, which is run by the Paulist Fathers and not the Archdiocese, about fifteen years ago. We found The Paulist Center to be a vibrant, welcoming community that has a strong focus on social justice, LGBTQ+ issues, and elevating the role of women in the church. If you're a Catholic who hasn't been to church in a while and you miss it, try The Paulist Center. Members come from all over Greater Boston. It's worth the drive or T ride into town.
