As I stated in other reviews, I am a pretty easy to please person. I don't freak out about small things. But when someone is rude to me, I remember it. But since I had a contract with Holmes Place, I have been nothing but disappointed. I've had memberships at many gyms in my life. Good Bad and Ugly. You remember that time you ate boiled eggs and pizza in the same day and had amazing disgusting farts that night? Well this gym, is those farts. BAD.
SO IF YOU'RE READING REVIEWS FROM PEOPLE THAT ARE STAYING AT A HOTEL AND HAVE A DAY PASS, I WOULD IGNORE THOSE REVIEWS. SHINY WEIGHT MACHINES DON'T MAKE A GYM, THE STAFF DOES!!!
This gym is not ugly, the machines are nice, the building is nice, it's very nice looking, but the attitude of the staff is usually HORRIBLE. Not always, but USUALLY. Once they sign you up for a membership, and have access to your account, you can forget having any issues resolved. The management rarely returns phone calls about questions, and treat the members as an inconvenience. Even in Emails they act as if the members are an inconvenience. Frankly, I am tired of dealing with their arrogant attitudes.
They have forgotten who they serve and who gives them money apparently. Or who they STEAL MONEY FROM: I recently found out that they have decided ( OUT OF THE BLUE AND WITHOUT TELLING ME) to charge me 40 Euro for a personal trainer and didn't even notify me!!! It's not in my contract and the useless man at the front counter stated "it's our new policy." (apparently their new policy is to steal money without telling someone) Maybe my new policy should be to punch people in the face that steal my money because they have my account details? I only found out THEY WERE STEALING MY MONEY while reviewing my savings account. Now they're refusing to give me the money back!!! Talk about BIG BALLS. So I have to fight about yet another issue with them. After several Emails, they are STILL trying to get me to go to the personal trainer and will not refund the money THEY HAVE STOLEN.
After several Emails to other Holmes Place members within the United Nations or VIC, I have found that they have done this to other members as well! Funny enough, it has happened to some of my friends, but not all of them. So did I look like a victim to them?
What else? Well, they are always scamming people to get the highest priced contracts, rude staff, broken lockers in locker room, broken toilet in locker room for over a year, the shower soap dispensers are usually empty, the hot tub is routinely out of service (not a major issue as hot tub is rarely used by me), don't even get me started on how the old retired people clog up the swimming lanes and can't figure out how to swim in a common direction like the rest of the civilized world, or the creepy naked guy who oils himself up and sits on the edge of the pool letting his oil stink up the water EVERY WEDNESDAY for the last two years, and the list goes on and on.
I have had so many issues with this gym, I will NEVER let any of my friends at the UN sign up with them. Everyone I talk to will hear this story. If you are a UN employee, go somewhere else! Don't fall for their UN discount scam! Go to a discount gym for 20 euro a month and use the Vienna city pool (50 meter pool compared to Holmes small 20m pool) for 220 a year and you still save over 500 Euro compared to Holmes Place. Depending on how much they can get you to sign a contract for. If you do sign up with them despite this review, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR ACCOUNT DETAILS!
Stay away! High pressure sales, low quality customer service. Shiny on the outside, but ugly on the inside. I would rather swim in the city sewers of Vienna and lift dead animals with rocks in their stomachs for weights than go back into Holmes place. read more
