Yelp Readers, I called Hollywood Station Hobbies, near Miami, Florida because they're listed as an authorized MTH Model Train repair dealer for the repair of my Erie Triplex engine. The owner, Paul Connor, gave me the name and contact information of his technician Ken. I spoke with Mr. Campbell and after gaining some confidence in him I ended up sending my well preserved engine. Before sending, I asked him if he will take good care of my favorite engine. He of course said he will. When I got it back it was so beat up, incompletely assembled, bent whistle, bent and broken bell yoke, broken front coupler lift mechanism, tender handrails not reassembled in their holes left bent stretched over the steps, screws missing, HUGE damaged paint, and didn't fully work...I was in disbelief and sick. When he finally replied after ghosting me, I owed him approximately $400, he said I did not have to pay. I asked for missing screws back and he sent me old incorrect screws not even close to what was missing. The engine was sent to Mr. Campbell properly packed in its original packing which he did not bother to repack properly causing huge paint damage between the engine cab and tender. I have sent two messages to the store owner, Mr. Connor, because I thought he should be aware of this incident. NO REPLY. I asked him to reach out to Mr. Campbell to verify my story. Hollywood Station is a great hobby shop for vintage and modern model trains. They were able to repair my Post-war. O-gauge Lionel locomotive. It was my Christmas gift nearly 60 years ago!! These folks are attentive, and a joy to know. Thank you to Bob and Ken. read more
