Honestly. I know I've said it before, but there really isn't another place like this…read more It's a rather austere looking building but inside couldn't be more friendly. A plethora of locals keep the bar going and run the Social Club. The bar is probably the cheapest on the Cowley Road. Thursday evening hosts the very entertaining and extremely popular Catweazle Club - it's more theatre, poetry and song, than open mic (open mic just doesn't do it justice!). Friday night fortnightly there is Mishmash where local dj's encourage you bring some tunes and get on down on the dance floor. In the other room, numerous activites such as martial arts and dance take place, as well as community events and is available for private hire. Check the place out - it is constantly facing closure and needs members and support. Support it before it becomes a McDonalds or Costa Coffee!

We've used Parish 4 times over the years and always been happy with them…read more Until something went a little wrong this time and they ran a mile. Unpacked a few boxes a little late to find some things broken and approached Parish as we took out the insurance. Quick as a flash we got a 'Without Prejudice' email from the owner saying that the insurance wasn't valid as we hadn't unpacked/reported it within 7 days. Who unpacks everything in the first week after moving? And the speed/manner at which he distanced them from helping in any way was at odds with the whole 'family values' approach they portray. Be careful, get your own insurance and don't rely on Parish to help you if anything goes amiss. The people doing the removals are always great - head office could take a few lessons from them in our opinion.

From the moment I met her I trusted her implicitly. Her workmanship was excellent - she was extremely attentive, precise and had excellent attention to detail. I have just got back two costumes after taking them to Carmelina for repairs & alterations which were too delicate to do myself, and I am very pleased with the results. Carmelina has done a really good job, fixing lots of delicate satin ruching which was coming unstitched on one costume, and adding extra chiffon panels to the skirt of another. I also thought that her price was very reasonable. I will be bringing all of my costumes to her when they need work doing on them in future!

They sell ladies, mens and childrens clothing, glasswear, childrens toys and videos, jewellery, household items and lots more. Each item is clearly priced so you know exactly how much you'll be paying. Everything is in very good condition, and quite often items are new, still unopened and fully packaged.
