This is the first place I've ever had physiotherapy at and I'm extremely impressed. It's located…read moreinside Carleton University and the price is very reasonable compared to other physiotherapy clinics that I've heard about. They obviously specialize in sports related injuries, but I'm pretty sure anyone can make an appointment if they have a physician's referral. If your health insurance covers physiotherapy, you'll be glad to know that they are registered so you can claim it. I injured my shoulder 4 years ago and this past summer it became aggravated, most likely as a result of cycling. A friend first recommended seeing a sports doctor at the medical clinic also located inside the university, which I did, and he recommend physiotherapy treatment while waiting for an MRI appointment. Out of convenience, I visited the Sports Therapy Clinic here. I've had about 10 appointments to date and feel 100% better than when I started. During my initial assessment, it was also determined that I likely had a pinched nerve in my neck which was contributing to my problems. So I'm being treated for both my shoulder and my neck at each appointment. My physiotherapist is friendly and professional, and doesn't hesitate to constantly remind me of my poor posture to help me improve. She explains everything about what's going on in my shoulder and my neck so I'm fully aware of extent of the problem. When I'm hooked up the electrotherapy machine I usually watch others receiving their physiotherapy treatment and I can see that everyone here knows their stuff. My appointment times are almost always right when they're supposed to be. Only once was it a little late. I highly recommend this clinic. There is plenty of parking, but you will have to pay at one of the machines. I think $4 gets you just over an hour. Don't try to get away without paying -- I always see the parking patrol checking cars. :)

I made an appointment with Motion Matters when pain in my knee and IT band stuck around for a couple months. As a runner I knew this was a fairly common problem but I wanted to find the cause and correct it before it got any worst. When I called Motion Matters they were able to get my an appointment within a week. Upon arriving for the first time they had me fill out 2 or 3 sheets of paper asking standard questions: "why are you here?" "How long has it hurt? "what else have you tried? "Did you get referred here by a physician?" etc. My physiotherapist introduced himself and asked some more specific questions about my injury and history as a runner. After a 5-10 minute chat we started a 40 minute long diagnostic checking my biomechanics for weaknesses and imbalances. When it was all done he gave me a list of 5-10 stretches and exercises to work on before my next appointment and we ended the session with a 5 minute deep tissue massage of the area. The second appointment was much more running focused. It was a shorter session, 30 minutes, and most of the time was spent on a treadmill running at various speeds while the physiotherapist recorded my gait. After running we looked at the video in slow motion to examine my foot fall and see what might have been causing the problem. He noticed a few things right away that I needed to work on and put me back on the treadmill to work on those issues so I could feel the difference. It was really nice getting instant feedback like this during my session. Once again I left with some drill and stretches to work on at home and he emailed me a copy of the videos of me on the treadmill. My knee and IT band feel much better now than when I started going to Motion Matters. I still get some tightness after long runs but I am fairly sure of the cause now and know what I need to keep doing to prevent it from getting too painful. Motion Matters doesn't do direct billing with your insurance so you need to pay yourself then resubmit the claim. An hour long session is around $90 and they'll give you an extra receipt at reception if you ask. Be sure to arrive 10 minutes early since you always have to wait a few minutes no matter what time you arrive. The waiting room has a tv and magazines at least.

Great experience at this clinic. I went 4-5 times, two years ago…read more Friendly receptionist, Knowledgeable physiotherapist who was involved in a lot of post-graduate education, and he helped to reduce pain from a knee injury I had sustained. My only dislike was that the treatment area was open concept with curtains - I am a greater fan of private treatment rooms.
