I'm not sure where the negative reviews are coming from, because our stay was genuinely a five-star experience from start to finish. We're currently waiting for our house to close here in Brookfield, so we've been staying at the hotel in the meantime, and it honestly made a stressful transition a lot easier. Check-in was smooth, the staff was polite and professional, and everything in the room was clean, comfortable, and well taken care of. The best surprise of the stay was definitely the free breakfast -- and not the usual basic hotel breakfast either. It was actually filling, fresh, and had enough variety that everyone left satisfied and ready to get on with the day. Overall, it exceeded expectations in every way during an important time for us. Smooth check in, plenty of parking, they have restaurant that high good reviews attached to the hotel so you don't have to leave or send out for food. They have a swimming pool which we did use. It wasn't crowded at all and they also have party rooms where they let the guest can use the pool. We've stayed here twice. Prices are pretty good when compared to other hotels. The only thing is it's a little outdated definitely would like to see them remodel give it a fresh look! read more

I like Holiday Inns because they are typically a less costly hotel and you pretty much know what you're going to get. This Holiday Inn was like most others. The price was a little inflated when my group went due to there being many events that weekend, but not as crazy as some of the other nearby hotels. The hotel and our room was very clean upon arrival. The decor, furniture, etc. was pretty old-school. When we reserved, we were under the impression that we'd have a couch in the room but instead got a large space with many different chair options. It worked out fine and we used the space to have friends come over before we went out to our event. We were fairly loud and when we checked to see if the sound would bother our neighbors by going into the hall, you actually couldn't hear much. We got no complaints so I assume it was the same for the walls between the rooms. The bed was comfortable and everything worked fine. Good water pressure in the shower. Mini fridge worked better than most hotel fridges. Lots of places to unpack belongings. Front desk staff was responsive and kind. Parking was complementary and super easy. They had complementary breakfast, but we did not indulge (we slept in!) Just a few cons. The gym and the pool were both closed during our time there. Our room had no full-length mirror, just the regular mirror in the bathroom. Easily resolved by adding a mirror. Also, no closet in our room. Finally, the TV had only very basic channels. I'd recommend adding Netflix or some kind of streaming service - at least the ability to log in with one's own account. The TV seemed pretty old and probably incapable of this. read more

We booked a room here to attend a surprise birthday party for our niece in bridgeview. The hotel was 15 minutes away so it was very convenient. This hotel was very nice, the staff was super nice. Xavier was sweet and very informative,answered all our questions. At the breakfast area, we met a very sweet and kind lady named Claire she made us feel welcome as if we were at her home. Claire was super nice to everyone she greeted in the buffet area. The two young ladies we met as the housekeeping were super sweet. I would highly recommend this hotel if you're in this area. This property should not be a holiday inn. I stay at holiday inn for consistency. The website implies they have a restaurant and bar which they do not, the fine print says closed indefinitely. Even the recorded message when you call the property mentions the restaurant. When asked about food nearby I was given a takeout menu. Do not waste your money!! Nothing here works. They got the booking wrong and had to move rooms three times in four days. The keys to the rooms had to be reset at least two times a day because they stop working. Some of the room doors don't even close all the way without struggle. The drains are slow. Washer and dryer take your coins and get jammed and the maintenance guy has no clue what to do other than shake them. Can't call the front desk from the room phone, it doesn't work. There's no fitness center. The pool is out of service it seems for the past few months. Just a very bad experience all in all!! read more

Was offered a room block for our sports team and then when I called to book it, was told they would only offer it if I paid for all 9 rooms in advance. I do all the hotel bookings for our team for the last 2 years in which I always try and book with holiday inn and have never experienced this before. Ive gotten last minute blocks literally a day before a tournament before due to a cancellation with absolutely no problem. This indicates to me that this sales agent Arina runs off of pure laziness because i know for a fact that is not a corporate policy. Also took multiple calls and emails over multiple days to even get a response back. What Arina failed to realize is that our team has 3 more Chicago stays coming up between june and august that she also lost our teams business on. After a long trip, it was nice to have great food and excellent service close by. Thanks again! Google Review I just wanted to compliment you on the addition of the jazz group in the lobby. It completely changed the ambiance and the wine was great too :). We noticed a couple checking in towards the end of the entertainment, and the group played an additional couple of songs so the couple could drop their luggage in their room and come down for some music and wine. Honestly if I could give this hotel zero stars for service I would. First time in my 50 years that I've ever left a bad review like this!! Called a few weeks in advance of booking to see about having a pool party for my sons 12th bday here. Wasn't even sure if they could accommodate that or if the price would be affordable. After being placed on hold for 20 minutes operator came back and said YES we could have 12-15 boys swim for a few hours at the pool as long as we booked a room as registered guests they could swim. No kids from the party would spend the night. Just me and my family of 3. The only thing I was told was I couldn't bring any outside food in. I would need to order food from their on-site restaurant. No problem totally ok with that!! Then arrive for check in and the "manager" TANGELLA tells my husband NO it's too many kids but they can stay and swim for a few hours if we reserve 2 more rooms at $150+ each. She asks who we spoke to for our reservation which I did not bring with me and says NO ONE here would have said that. Basically calling me a liar. Then says I'll cancel your room since you don't want to pay for 2 more rooms. No, I'm so sorry that's typically not our policy....Or let's see what we can do (maybe a discount on another room that will be empty for the night)!! Horrible customer service!!! I've used this hotel in the past. But recently I booked a room so my daughter could have two friends sleepover for her birthday and swim. I checked the website ahead of time to make sure the pool was open. I found pool amenities and hours information on the website. I show up a few days later with several girls in their swimsuits ready to go, only to notice a small sign posted at the sign in desk "Pool closed". Well, that seems like good information to put on your website! How hard would it be to add a banner or alert? I felt bad for the host. Not gonna say much more about this, but since I got charged an additional $25, here goes... So there's 3 elevators there, one was out of commission when we got there. So after checking out our room, we went down to the pool to see what it was like, and as we went back up to our room... WE GOT LOCKED IN THE ELEVATOR!! Nothing like having your kid freak the hell out & needing to be rescued from the not working elevator. We were in there for only 5-6 minutes, but with only 1 elevator working, we didn't want to chance it again & used the stairs for the remainder of our stay... and we were on the 5th fucking floor, ironically right next to the noisy ass elevators. The front desk gal asked what room we were in upon our rescue, and I thought we might be getting a discounted rate, but no! Not only did we not get a break on the price, but we were charged $25 for incidentals, which I can't possibly understand, we were there less than 12 hours & didn't use anything more than the lights & tv. The room itself wasn't bad. The upgrades look nice. Aside from the blackout curtains that wouldn't close or stay together, so we most certainly woke up at the ass crack of dawn with the East facing windows letting all the sun into our room at 5:45 am. Cool shower, that didn't drain well, so 2" of water stayed in the shower for a few hours after it was used, so I had to stand in cold old water after we used it almost 2 hours before. Lots of smoke smell in the non smoking room too, but I guess that's to be expected. 2 different friends recommended this place, but unless it's free, I wouldn't stay here again. read more

If I had to describe it, I would say the pool area is gorgeous! The hotel overall, it's okay but it seems really older and the common areas and rooms are very out dated looking. The AC in the room was super cold at the beginning of our stay but seemed to be less and less cool with use after a few days. The common areas like hallways and elevators were very hot and muggy inside the hotel. The onsite washer was good, but the dryer didn't work and kept my change. It was frustrating, but whatever. The wifi is the WORST. When your device is dormant for even one second the wifi drops and you have to re-add the wifi using the password...over and over and over again. The staff up front was pleasant and friendly. I liked that the front area is stocked with complimentary apples, that was a nice touch. Housekeeping was good at the beginning, but they didn't get our room fixed up on the day I really really needed it cleaned and we were prepping for a wedding. They showed up very late in the day with extra towels and toiletries when the room was full of people. I had called the front desk early to ask for cleaning and there was no confirmation given on when it would happen. Apparently it was only offered very late in the day. When I approached housekeeping to ask for help in the hallway earlier in the day they backed away and said "no English". It was again frustrating. I would come here again for the beautiful pool and hot tub, but just feeling "meh" about the rest of it. read more

The pools were nice. They have a heated pool 3 foot depth pool and a non heated Olympic size pool. However, The room left much to be desired. The carpet was a light gray so we saw all the carpet stains from prior guests. Our room was on the first floor and was so noisy. It sounded like a washing machine/ dryer was running all night. As a result we couldn't sleep. We spoke with the front desk and they said it was probably the elevator and left it at that. Whatever it was we won't be returning here. read more

Hotel was quiet an clean. I read my confirmation email top to bottom several times and nowhere in it did it say there would be a $100 deposit on site after my booking was already paid in full months ago. I've never stayed at a holiday inn before but I've never heard of that anywhere else. The deposit cut into my entertainment budget for the trip, as it was an unexpected expense. Also, the email said breakfast was included in the final price that I had already paid and then on-site they tell me its $10/guest. I asked for extra pillows and towels upon arrival and had to track down a house keeper 8 hours later and still only got 1 extra pillow and no extra towels. Phone in the room didn't work. We asked for a 12pm checkout instead of 11am. Housekeeping came knocking not once, but twice within that hour. The lady who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, I cannot remember her name, but she is the only reason I gave them more than 1 star. I doubt I'll book at any holiday inn in the future. read more

Booked room 2 weeks ahead and when I got to the hotel it they told me that the room was under construction and they had no more open rooms. Lobby was full of dust, people yelling at us to move our car because a delivery is coming in. Meanwhile the staff is yelling at us, the employees have 0 idea what there doing. Nobody apologized except the manager and the woman at the desk seemed like she didn't care at all. They don't tell ahead that there building is under construction. We saw the manager run inside from his car with his suit in hand which is very unprofessional. Rooms which were not under construction had boards covering the windows, the woman threatened to call the cops if we didn't stop arguing. The woman behind the desk is rude, and very incorporate. This hotel is just a mess, the photos look nothing like they do in real life. Went to the Marriott down the street and was pleased. They even told us at check in that the Holiday Inn is a Joke. On January 26 through the 30th my family and oh I stayed at the Holiday Inn wish we did not have such a great experience or Wednesday stay was fine Thursday the day of the week for my brother's funeral as we return back to the hotel we had a horrific experience with the only working elevator in the front lobby was down for 40 minutes we were never informed that the elevator was down a little cocky smart Alec manager named Dominic I spoke to had nothing but major attitude the maintenance persons working on it maintenance man number two had a nasty attitude I don't understand the reasoning behind it but it turned out to be a horrible experience as a disabled veteran and two elevators in a hotel one being one being used by maintenance and cleaning personnel only and being shut off in front of us as we witnessed and a two days prior two days after occasion both of us as handicapped seniors were mistreated were put in a room we requested a suite wish we got very very nice suite but one and a half hallways down too much for surgically repaired wife's knee and myself a visually impaired handicap veteran to walk. The male front desk personnel never acknowledged our presence never spoke to us never said hello never said goodbye never said a thing the lady used at work the front desk were all very cordial and very friendly great staff the males complete opposite hard to really explain our experience other than rude management was beyond rude management was unhelpful and caring. read more

It's sad that I need to provide a review like this for a venue that held my wedding sadly it was too late to pull out especially since I was paying for this on my own. When I originally booked I was dealing with a wonderful event representative and sadly she left. With zero communication for the holiday inn sales/event team I had to find out there was a new contact person on my own, who was a joke to get ahold of. Asked multiple times for a call back or an email with information on my room block with no response. Needless to say that individual left and now I'm on to the 3rd event coordinator, mind you I only found out about the 3rd new person after I went to the venue for food tasting that wasn't actually booked. New coordinator was trying her best with fixing all the issues but left a lot of grey areas, when I would question it I was always told it will be taken care of but I eventually got stuck paying for. Also make sure to pay attention to the contract, in my package I was getting a champagne toast that was never done because they said I didn't pay for it. In the end I made my day what I wanted but I would highly recommend having a wedding somewhere else. read more

As an IHG platinum elite member, I have to admit that this location and hotel was not my first choice. I have never stayed before and was pleasantly surprised! My cousin was in from out of town due to the death of her father. I booked using points and was given a complimentary upgrade to a suite. The suite was absolutely amazing, clean, and plenty of room! The wedding venue was nice, I was the mother of the groom. The table and chairs were rickety and had to be changed out during the reception. To their credit they did it quickly, but the replacement was really no better. The atrium was beautiful, but you could tell all around that it needed renovation. The service in the banquet room was phenomenal and the food was good. To the downside - The rooms are in dire need of renovation. The towels are thin and worn. The sheets are excellent, but the beds are worn out with springs popped through. The thick textured ceiling was awful. Our son stayed in the bridal suite and the whipped texture on the ceiling was jarring I can't even describe it. It was just overly bad and unwelcoming. It was big with a lot of potential, but the whipped ceilings formed peaks like that in a horror movie. The heater in our room had a broken thermostat and had to be manually turned on and off. After three days we left the hotel exhausted. The hotel needs to be fully renovated and replace everything. The sheets were good, that was it but didn't cover over the springs popping out of the mattress. The service in the restaurant wasn't that great either the staff tried to be professional, but the manager was rigid and unwelcoming. We waited forever for food that was tasteless and expensive like it was left over from a banquet...and thrown on the menu at the last minute. We ate in the restaurant once because we couldn't stomach another try. With no sleep from the hotel...to boot we couldn't risk it. There is a lot of potential here with renovations. The wedding venue alone makes it all worth it because there are so few affordable places to get married in Chicagoland. read more

Not what I expected for Holiday Inn. We flew into Midway and made our way to the hotel. The front desk girl was just okay - not super friendly. She gave us our keys and sent us on our way. We made our way down a hallway that was being renovated - not great - but not a big deal. Get to the elevator, it was really banged up. Get to the room, which we were RIGHT by the elevator, and the keys didnt work. Had to go back to the front desk and she said, oh ya, our keys havent been working great....uhhh okay...Get into the room - kind of smelled like marijuana, but was cool and appeared clean. The bathroom was really nice. That night when we returned from visiting the city we noticed the door was not shut all the way - so that was kind of scary at first but then we realized that unless you slam the door shut it stays slightly open. That was a noisy Friday night right by the elevator, thankfully we were heavy sleepers. The following night when we came back from the city, there was a woman walking down the hall with no pants on, not even underwear...uh, what??? We get to the elevators and when they opened, it appeared a girl was giving a man a blow job. WHAT THE HECK!?! One of the two elevators was broken and stuck open and the one we rode on smelled of urine. We chose this location due to price and boy, did we get what we paid for. This was a tricky one. I think timing and lack of communication is what is causing me to give 2 stars. But It easily could have been 1 Star. We booked a venue here and when we arrived we discovered the first floor was being renovated and was not in good shape (this wasn't mentioned when booked). I can overlook the debris and workers and ladders all over the place without any warning signs because after getting to the 7th floor (where the venue was) we were pleased with the room. Actually had a neat view all the way to down town Chicago. Although, the hallway leading to the room was littered with tables and chairs which I'm pretty sure is a fire hazard. The staff was nice and helpful, but overall I'd say this wasn't a very good place for us. It would have never been an issue if we could have used one of the many vacant meeting rooms on the first floor that was nowhere near the construction. Stayed here again and they really came through this time. We were put in a venue on the first floor that was large and accommodating. Beautiful clean room with a modern design. No complaints! complimentary coffee has a microwave fridge bottle of shampoo and conditioner, clean towels. Has a nice patio with a dining area. Also has a pool and a exercising room if you ever feel like going . Update: The first couple days were great but then I started noticing that the cleaning lady's were somewhat lacking, pillows weren't being cleaned they smelled horrible and trash wasn't being thrown out. They have a nice restaurant downstairs but I was disappointed when I tasted the food almost everything tasted like rubber and really old. BUT the #1 reason I am updating the review is thanks to KEVIN who works at the front desk. A complete dickhead HORRIBLE and VERY Rude employee. Didn't let me take a package I ordered even though I showed him the conformation on my phone for the package, he kept giving me shitty attitude and WORST of all he called my mom down for the package IM 17!!! No reason for him to do all that for a package where I already showed him the conformation and gave him my room number. Pros: Parking was easy, the room was clean, and the pool/hot tub area was huge and beautiful Cons: The staff was uptight, breakfast is not included unless you book directly with Holiday Inn, there was a big roll-away bed in our king room...without our request, and a huge pool+weekend=kids! Not recommended for adults without children, this hotel is perfect for a kid/pool get-away. The room was fine, the bed comfy, and they offered coffee and bars in the lobby in the morning. I could do without the staff's attitude, and the rooms near the elevator mean constant noise. I would stay again if needed, the price is right, but I wouldn't seek this hotel out for a weekend getaway. read more

One word to describe this place: DUMP! I hate coming here yearly for conferences. I wish my company would realize that this place needs to be condemned. If not destroyed at least revamped starting with staff, especially management. The conference rooms are NOT cooled/heated properly. One room is set at 77 degrees while the one directly next door (divided by a thin divider) is set at 65. When we notified staff it took 3 people to make the change. At which point they rolled their eyes at us for asking them to cool down the conference room. If you are stuck in one of the conference rooms near the restaurant you can smell every single dish they are making...and it is NOT appetizing. I have much more to complain about but to get my point across, nobody should spend their hard earned money at this place. It is so poorly managed. When I attempted to speak with the manager about the issues we were having he kept cutting me off saying "that was a decision I made". The staff is rude all the way up the management chain, and the plebes that work there are absolutely clueless. I have so many things I could say, but I'm just going to list the top ones. First, they DO NOT have an Olympic size pool as advertised on their website and by the staff. Second, the hotel is dark and dilapidated. The cleanliness is questionable. Just an overall bad experience and huge disappointment; the hotel seemed so nice from the website! Because of my time here, I will never stay at a Holiday Inn again! Ok, it's been at least 10 years since I've been here. So my review may be a little off. BUT... I had to review this place because I have so many cherished childhood memories here! My extended family is mostly from Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, so when we'd go to visit them, we'd stay in this hotel on the way through. It's a little kid's dream! The Holidome was sweet. It's huge with the Olympic swimming, steamrooms, sauna, and arcade. This is a great holdover from the days when the fam' would jump in the woody-wagon and see the great country. Near the old Route 66 (Ogden Avenue), this hotel was built when the burbs were new. This place is great for me for nostalgia's sake. Funny the things you remember from when you were a wee lad. But it's also a great hotel with lots of nice amenities if you have kids. I've planned multiple weddings in the past and I'm currently planning my own. I am calm under pressure. I am generally a super friendly, chipper person. But dealing with the incompetent employees at this place will turn even the calmest brides into INSTANT bridezillas! The lack of communication is atrocious, the ability to resolve conflicts is non-existent, and calling a General Manager leads to unanswered phone calls, so don't bother. Infuriating!!!! I spoke with at least four different people who were referred to as my "primary contact". Every time I called, I was transferred at least 3 times and put on hold for at least 10 mins while someone looked for my wedding block. Every time my guests called, they experienced the same thing. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. We booked this hotel because we were told they had multiple shuttles to bring our guests to and from the reception hall. We are currently 15 days away from the wedding and I'm now being told that there is only ONE shuttle and that shuttle needs to go to Midway during the time our guests were scheduled to be shuttled to our reception. (Imma slap someone...) If I had the choice between dealing with these idiots again or stabbing myself in the face with a sharp lead pencil..... I'd stab myself in a heatbeat. read more

Pool is beautiful, banquet halls nice... Get to the rooms and BAM throwback to 1970's. Seriously, I was wondering if Alice from the Brady Bunch was going to offer breakfast in the morning. Brick wall in our room, white tiled shower, white and gold swirled tile on the bathroom walls, cream colored tile floor, old dresser in room, old metal wall furnace/AC unit- either hot or cold, no in between. That is my only complaint- the rooms need a serious overhaul! read more

PLEASANTLY Surprised!!! I have to honestly Say..the experience was pleasant! .. The rooms were nice. They weren't like some Super 8 Hotel. the rooms were actually Decent. There were Hot Sandwiches/fries and Drinks waiting for us when we arrived even though it was 10pm at night. The next day we went to this Fabulous Restaurant with a pretty decor.. and the food was fantastic! This is a place that I would certainly take my family for a buffet breakfast or maybe lunch. The little Cubby booths are kinda cute and romantic looking. I would certainly go again just to go (for the food of course) ... Oh and it was nice to see my tax dollars at work! This place is mediocre on a good day. So far in my room I have found hair bobbi pins on the floor, a purple hair tie on the towel hook in my bathroom and a shower that makes me take a bath to my ankles since the water doesn't drain. if i wanted to take a tubby then I would have done the full on sit down and rub a dub dub. Since I am a 32 year old man I opted for the shower with the bonus ankle bath. i can understand the drains not working 100% but seriously... clean the room before a new guest checks in. Im afraid to use the coffee machine. Not making points. On a positive note the complimentary breakfast is above average read more
