This hotel looks fairly decent walking in. Nice front desk/seating area. Once you get off the elevator it feels like you stepped out a Time Machine lbs. The hallways are dated. The room was standard. Ok size. Came with a TV (not many channels). Bed sheets seemed clean. But the restroom was gross. It had someone's poop that splashed on the toilet lid. There were also some pubic hairs and booty dust on the seat. And the shower had hair in it as well. I honestly debated about writing this review because once I looked there were so many other negative reviews about the cleanliness of the restrooms. I really feel like they don't care and it's not going to change. So I wouldn't recommend this hotel. read more

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. Save yourself the stress, frustration, and financial loss. Do not book this hote My room was absolutely filthy. I took photos and videos immediately and showed them to the front desk. Honestly, I should have canceled on the spot, but the front desk clerk, Ms. Kristina, was kind and asked me to try another room. That second room was somehow even worse than the first. At that point, I canceled my stay entirely. I was specifically told that once the manager, Jennifer Jacobs (who has been avoiding my calls since), returned the next day, my refund would be approved because I booked through Booking.com and manager authorization was needed. That approval never came. Instead, after 11 days of calls, messages, follow-ups, and being given the runaround, I learned the General Manager denied my refund request. Let me be clear...I never stayed in either room. I was presented with two unacceptable, dirty rooms, forced to scramble and find another hotel, wasted time dealing with staff and customer service, and still ended up out $500. So the hotel's position is apparently ... they can offer unsanitary accommodations, fail to remedy the issue after a second attempt, inconvenience the guest, and then keep the guest's money anyway. I literally feel violated. Again, don't book this hotel, and think twice before booking through Booking.com as well. Check-in was easy and effortless. Staff was pleasant. Two downfalls though: the bed was worn and hard in room 436. We could feel every bump in the bed. We went out to the pool once and found no clean towels in the clean towel bin. We asked the front desk to get two towels. She said she only had one but would bring more out. That never happened. We stayed in the pool for an hour and no one brought any towels out. read more

They have a full bar and restaurant next to the lobby, which means there are no microwaves in your rooms, and breakfast cost you 10$. Breakfast looked absolutely abysmal, for 10$, there were very limited options. Room was fine. Beds are hard and flimsy. Tv is tiny in your room, and there is limited channel options. The gym... wow. Missing dumbbells, the air conditioner in the cardio room is broken, the equipment is old. The lightest dumbbell they had was 15 lbs. Do not stay here. The HI should stand for holiday incompetence rather than holiday inn. On our recent stay, while checking in, the lady next to me said when she got to her room someone else was already in that room. I should have known this hotel staff had no idea what they were doing. We got to our room and the keys didn't work. We go back downstairs, wait in line, and get new keys. They didn't work. Back down stairs. At this point they let us in and said maintenance would fix the door while we were gone. We came back a few hours later and door still wouldn't open. The front desk person explained to another hotel employee that they knew the door had issues! They let us in. The next morning they made us move rooms. We came back a few hours later and the keys didn't work on the new room. Housekeeping was nearby and said someone else was given this room and when they went in saw our things they went downstairs to complain. We go back downstairs, wait in line, and the person behind the counter said their system showed we only had the room for 1 night. I showed her our reservation confirmation and she said the IHG app doesn't work and we should have booked through the hotel. Finally got to a manager who started to help me as I still couldn't get in to my second room. The phone rang, she answered and started helping the person on the phone while I stood there without a room. Eventually the general manager came out and said we did have a 2 night reservation and made us our 7th set of keys. We finally were able to get in to the room with out a hotel person letting us in. Besides no one knowing what they are doing, the place is a dump and in an unsafe area. Looking out our window, the liquor store across the parking lot had 3 police cars handcuffing someone. Not what I expected from a Holiday Inn. Immediately as I walked in the entrance, the lobby windows were dirty, furniture was extremely worn, torn and dirty. Getting to our room...There is 1 central microwave for the entire floor and room numbers missing in the hallway. The room was underwhelming. The bathroom door is a sliding frosted glass door (see through and hear through, the bathroom door was dirty and had some unidentified crusty smears, the shower had signs of mold, the shower door runner looked liked it was not cleaned regularly and gunk on the edges, hair was left on the shower walls and toilet. There were stains on the lounge chair, the desk chair had rips, and a nail sticking out ripped my shirt. The curtains were dirty and had black spots all over them. Breakfast on Saturday was greasy hash browns, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and other assorted cereal and breads. Breakfast on Sunday was only cereal. read more

Booked a room here as I waited for a move in for a new apartment and didn't want to spend a lot of money. The front desk was extremely helpful as I got in earlier with expected with my cat. The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable, and there was a place to park my car. It was all I needed! There is a lot of food nearby, but also just extremely close to the city! I tried going to the restaurant here but couldn't find a server anywhere, so left and got food elsewhere. This was ideal for what I wanted. We came to Cincinnati for Opening Day at Great American Ballpark, and having done that once or twice (or six or seven times) before, we knew the ins and outs of how to make it as easy and no fuss as possible. If you come to a Reds game and don't want to pop for an expensive hotel or AirBNB, this is a great option. It's a Holiday Inn, so it's not big on frills. But check-in and out were easy. The rooms were spacious enough and clean and had a good TV and mini fridge. The bathroom had terrific water pressure. The ice machine on the first floor works well. It was quiet each night and morning. You don't have maid service but can request fresh towels and stuff from the front desk. So if you're there to see the Reds, take the shuttle that the Transportation Authority of Northern Kentucky (Tank) runs. Starts two hours before first pitch. Runs every 15 minutes before and for an hour after the game. Picks up at numerous stops in Covington, including near the White Castle and under the overpass just west of the hotel. Drops off a few blocks from the park. Costs $1 each way (you absolutely need cash, and they don't make change). I got a deal on the room from Expedia.com, around $125 a night. The regular room rate was about $155. Worth the money for the convenience to be so close to the park and downtown Cincinnati, not to mention things to do in Covington and Newport. read more

The front desk staff was far from friendly, the walls of the room are paper thin, they ran out of towels for my room, the soap dispenser in my room was empty, breakfast was awful, the air conditioner did not work (and yes, my stay was in the summer), the location is very poor (where's the river?!) and light shined in under the door all night. For a Holiday Inn Express, the cleanliness was not as great a most locations. Read the other Yelp reviews.. they are right. The person who checked us In was friendly. The main room and bed were both clean, and aside from the fact that the covers had looked like they been thrown on by a 2 year old, were fine. The bathroom, however, had not been cleaned well (if it had been cleaned at all). There was a bottle cap and possibly a dead bug under the sink area, a half eaten shark gummy candy stuck to the floor, and random black hairs. If I had it to do over, I could sleep in this room again, but probably wouldn't. It probably wasn't the worst in the city, but it definitely wasn't the best. read more

We spent 3 nights in this hotel and we really liked the room. It was big and comfortable and had everything we needed. My only complaint is the pool. The only reason we chose this hotel was for the indoor pool and it was so cold I couldn't stay in the water. I talked to the front desk about it and she said it was a health department rule that the water couldn't be any warmer than it was, which felt slightly above freezing. (Update) So I googled it up and confirmed that this holiday inn hotel has a fire accident last week, which explains why the entire wing has multiple blowers on every floor and rooms blocked for repair. Decent value for the area. There are some rough parts within a couple blocks of the hotel. Not all that walkable in my opinion. The shining star was the chef at the restaurant, Mr. Charles. The assistant chef, Shannon was great as well. The food was exceptional and Charles is truly one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. The food and service were so great that we ate here each morning of our stay, even with a handful of other options around. It's not often that you receive the type of service we received while dining here. Unfortunately the front desk staff is not quite as friendly or professional but the staff at the restaurant boosts my score from a 2 to a 5! read more

I thought the staff were very friendly and helpful at the front desk. We got checked in just fine and of course we had a pretty good rate. I thought the decor in the room was a little bit dated and perhaps old. But on the other hand it was clean. The nice person at the front desk told me that the rooms had all been redecorated. Maybe I just look dated to me. There seems to be lots of amenities in this hotel. I'm going to try the fitness room later tonight. I did indeed try the fitness center and everything work just fine. It's right outside the elevator as you come down. There is also a bar and restaurant on the first floor which is excellent. I would have hoped they would have had a Craft brewery in the basement, but I don't think they have any Brewery down there. Maybe management could build one for our next day? The free Wi-Fi worked fine. You have to put your name and room number in and then it gives you access. Seems to run well most of the time. However on several occasions that seem to be really slow. Not sure what was going on there. I saw from a prior reviewer that participants in the marathon got a free beer the night before. Well, I'm not running a marathon but can we get those free beers? I did have a great brew down in the restaurant. The young lady working there, Jolene, was extremely helpful and friendly. She helped me through all of the different kinds of beers especially the local craft brews in town. Really good service! However, I did not get a free beer like those marathon runners. A nice budget hotel in northern Kentucky. Although it's a bit of a walk to the Cincinnati side, there are two nice bridges (take the Roebling bridge for a better faster experience) to get you there in about 20 minutes. There's ample free surface parking and the staff are super friendly. We felt the hotel went over and above as a marathon sponsor hotel. There was fresh hot coffee in the lobby, along with water, juice, fruit and yogurt. So nice! The night before they also gave each of us a complimentary beer. Thank you!!! read more

Nooo do not stay here let's start out by saying the rooms are super outdated and the hall ways and rook carpets are so grubby and Gross it smells bad here. Sketchy people all around. I also had two bad experiences with house keepers. One got mad because I missed her and asked for towels so she went in the linen room and went off the coworker about how sick and tired of these do not disturb people asking for shit cuzing me out when I was standing outside the door. The next day another house keeper is outside and I ask her for toilet paper and she said they are having a toilet paper shortage whatttt how are you going to charge 120$ for a bad room and not have toilet paper. Stay away!! We travel monthly for sports tournaments, and this, by far, has unfortunately been the absolute worst experience we have had. Let me preface by saying the front desk staff is great. Very friendly. But then it goes downhill. The room we were put in was DISGUSTING. 1) Bodily fluids on the headboard 2) bathroom door had fluids/toothpaste/soap/grime on it 3) food caked on the arm of the chair 4) food of some sort on the carpet 5) dirt and hair in the shower 6) shower handle covered in soap scum 7) the wires to the ac/heater (which didn't even work properly) are taped, which is a safety hazard 8) filthy microwave that was broken. 9) drain in the sink was broken and covered with mold 10) brown stains on the comforter. 11) keurig was gross and caked in dust/coffee/mold. No free coffee is offered in the lobby, you have to purchase it and it's only available during breakfast. Best part? We didn't even get any room cleaning service during our stay! We did NOT decline room cleaning, nor did we have a do not disturb sign on the door. Housekeeping just chose not to clean or replenish anything in the room. I spoke to the front desk and was told to contact the regional manager. I sent an email with pictures and he never responded. No other remedies were offered. There is a beautiful Courtyard by Marriott literally right next door. My recommendation is to stay there and bypass this dump. read more

This is the hotel I chose for our trip. Close to many attractions in the area. Beautiful pool, outside and with many lounge chairs it is a winner. Only thing not giving a 5 star is it doesn't have a free breakfast bar. There is an in-house restaurant that is available also. Let's start with the pros. 1.The hotel is dated but looks okay. 2. It's about a mile walk to the ball diamond. Now my cons: 1. It does not have a free breakfast. 2. The rooms and halls smell musty. Maybe if they put in new carpet, it would help with the musty smell. If you have allergies, I would not pick this location. 3. Our thermostat on the wall didn't work but at least we could control the temp on the wall unit. I tried to call the front desk but no one picked up. 4. When you leave the hotel and walk to the ballpark, they need more street lights. One overpass they put red and blue lights under and you can't see. There is over grown shrubs and if I was walking alone, I would not do it. read more

There is good and not so great here, but I would still probably recommend it based purely on the location. We arrived very late just past midnight. There was no one at the front desk for about 10 minutes. Something was going on because the front desk person finally showed up and she had a security guard with her. So totally understandable. We get to the room and it's a king and we reserved two queens. They ended up putting us into two different rooms and comped one. Not a great start, but she did what she could to get us comfortable. The rooms are dated, but clean. The staff is extremely friendly. There are little things like only having two plugs on just one side of the bed for chargers and phones. Little annoyances. The buffet breakfast was fine. It's what one comes to expect. The worst part were the noises. We stayed for two nights and the elevator was right next to our rooms. I heard it moving all night long. Thankfully, it wasn't being used much after 2am. The ac/heat unit was incredibly noisy. I have no idea if everyone experienced this, but it would wake me up from a dead sleep. I also woke up the last morning with a crazy allergy attack. But, no one else had that issue so who knows. I must have just been sensitive to something. The Main Street of Covington is a really short drive and was really nice. So location is the main attractive item here. read more

This place is a dump. It's out dated abs dirty. I stayed here for a soccer tournament. We switched rooms three times due to them not being clean. The first night some crackhead was going in and out of her room all night long, slamming the door. The hotel is located near the expressway, you can hear the traffic because the windows are not think and sound proof. Then at 7:19am hotel staff was banging on my door and woke us up. She said her records showed my room as being vacant and abruptly walked away. If I could give this 0 stars I would. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. Came to the area for short get away. We try to stay in Holiday Inns since we are IHG members. The check in was a breeze. The young man that helped us was very friendly and helpful. Told us about the shuttle to the Reds game and about the one back to Covington. Shuttle was only $1 each way. As for the rooms they were neat and clean. I thought bathroom was s little small. Asked for room with a tub and was told they have non. That was the only issue. Nice size bar and restaurant down stairs. However no comment as we used neither. Fitness room was open 24hrs and was nice but little small. Compared to other Holiday Inns I have stayed in. Pool area is outside so it is seasonal. It was nice and clean few kids playing. They offer several discount tickets to local attractions such as Sporting events "GO REDS", Newport Aquarium, and Creation Museum, and a few others but only one place per visit or so we were told. Two nice walking bridges across to river to Cincinnati. All in all would recommend for your visit to the area read more

We stayed at this hotel when my son came for summer orientation at Miami University. Although it's not much to look at from the outside, we found clean, comfortable rooms inside. I sat outside by the pool one evening. It was a nice area, although it had a parking lot view. Although we generally lean toward the Marriott family of hotels, I would say this Holiday Inn is a good choice for convenience to Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky events and sites. We booked a room here for a two-night stay from Friday-Sunday. Due to the weather our 6.5 hour drive took 10.5. So my wife and two boys aged 17 and 15 arrived to our with only two twin beds! The next morning my wife went down to the front desk to inquire about the room and the counter person, Timika, asked why we didn't say anything when we checked in and my wife stated we didn't get in until after midnight and we were exhausted. She our check on time and quickly understood! She immediately went to work looking for a solution and we couldn't be happier with her service. She actually gave us two adjoining rooms so our boys had a room with two twin beds and we had our own room with a king. She discounted the rooms to help us out and she really helped us out! All night long the smell of "skunk" was in the hall and people slamming doors, screaming, yelling. We were here to visit our grandbaby in the hospital and was exhausted. No sleep. Where to start? Stayed here for soccer tournament and before arriving, my daughter's teammates were sending videos of how gross the hotel was. Pulled into the lot and felt uncomfortable because of the run down businesses surrounding the area. Lobby not too bad but elevator smelled of smoke. Had a 2nd floor room and the halls are so outdated and dirty. Opened our door and got hit by an awful smell of stale smoke and who knows what else . So glad I brought Clorox wipes, lysol spray and Febreze. The room looked like it had been cleaned up but the bathroom was gross. Hair on the vanity and in the shower. Sliding door for the bathroom was see through and disgusting, I had to wipe it down and when I did, the cloth was brown. Refrigerator had sticky fingerprints on the handle. I went out and bought some spray bleach and cleaned the bathroom myself. Sprayed everything I could think of with Lysol. Took at least 24 hours of Febreze and Lysol to get to a point where I could walk in our room and not want to gag. We have to stay here next weekend for my son's tournament and I really want to find another hotel. I do have to say the staff was very nice read more

I must say that the lady I read all the good reviews about totally nailed it. So I arrived on 06/22/2023 and the supervisor Marge was not a friendly and nice welcoming kind of person, How ever I needed change and a wake up call late that night, So I went to the desk where I met Tasha, The reviews do not do this woman enough justice as she is probably the best thing since sliced bread. She was so helpful and did not act like I was putting her out like Marge. She helped me out and was dealing with some idiot who kept calling for non sense but she never showed even if it bothered her. The hotel was clean and cozy, as well as my room! When I checked out on 6/25/2023 I actually got the chance to see Tasha again and thank her for all she had done. As it may be she was a busy body, Cleaning the lobby, and making coffee Etc. I feel awful that I cannot recall the name of the young woman who checked me in, because she did a perfect job - and I say this as someone who has worked in the hospitality industry for 12 years. The lobby was clean, and spacious, as was my room. I was exhausted from my trip, so I didn't go to the pool, but I could see it from my window, and it seemed as though everyone was enjoying it. I also didn't make use of the lounge area, as I went out to meet friends, but they seemed to have a decent craft beer selection, and were very helpful when I asked for local information. This is a nice budget conscious hotel on the Kentucky side of the river in the Greater Cincy area. Being a Holiday Inn, it's nothing flashy, but it was clean, well kept, with decent free WiFi, comfortable beds, and a hot shower. If you're in town for a game/concert/other event, and need a place to crash at the end of the night more than anything, this will do you fine and not be too hard on your wallet. read more

It was fine. The hotel is very dated and is nothing like I'm used to when staying at the Holiday Inn Express hotel locations. My husband and I just needed somewhere close to the University of Cincinnati hospital to sleep and although this place provided just that, I would not stay there again. The cleanliness was overall lacking. There were hairs in the shower and just sporadically around the room. The key card also had a sticky substance all over it. The room was hot and humid even though it was in the 30s outside, we had to turn the AC on in order to be comfortable. The bed was ok, but again, not like what you get at Holiday Inn Express. The room was very clean and up to date, a little small for the king but the bathroom was very large. AND the hot water didn't run out after an hour shower. This is definitely a great hotel. I have to say the restaurant inside has some of the best burgers I've ever had in my life. I got the "flying pig" and it was absolutely amazing. The workers in the restaurant are so friendly and caring for the customers. I do need to say this, some of the workers for the house keeping were low key rude. On of the cleaning lady's ran into her in the hall and she didn't even smile at us when we said hi. The room was pretty clean but it did have some crusted lotion or something dripping of the door. The pool was closed the whole weekend and it just opened back up on Tuesday. The lounge is very classy and it has a nice tv. The restaurant decor was also very welcoming. Again about the cleaning ladies, my family and I were wondering why there was a sticky, nasty substance on the floor of the elevator, it also smelled, a while later, we saw a lady drag a full big bag of trash out of the elevator and it smelled. When we got to the elevator we realized that substance was from that trash. I do recommend this hotel because it was a good welcoming experience. The down sides were how the cleaning ladies did there job, and my room wasn't the cleanest (I'll pin pictures) The main reason why I'm leaving 3 stars is because the restaurant was amazing!
