I know I keep saying this, but this was a top highlight of our trip to NZ. I didn't even have it on my (extensive) itinerary, but at the recommendation of the hotel receptionist we took the short drive from Hokitika town to here! After an easy, short hike and a suspension bridge (also very fun to cross) you reach the gorge with insane views of this teal blue water - I nicknamed it the Gatorade Blue Frost water. The color was shockingly beautiful! There are multiple photo op spots around the area and great views to take in. A must if you're making your way down the west coast! read more

Great 30 min round trip hike with a spectacular and rewarding view at the end. Worth the 30 min detour from the downtown Hokitika to stop by. Just follow the signs as well as the caravan of camper vans. The parking lot has a bathroom and also a little coffee truck that takes credit card. read more

This relatively short and easy walk will not disappoint you. The views of the river and gorge are superb. Crowds were moderate and picture taking opportunities abound. A must do if you are near Greymouth. read more
