The elegant reception and the friendly staff were a good start. Our room was a bit smaller than we'd imagined, but the bathroom had neat space-saving sliding doors and the mattress was very comfortable. Breakfast was served in a nicely decorated open space where you could see the chefs preparing what was no doubt not only breakfast but also lunch items to enjoy in the fine looking restaurant. While the fish and weisswurst (the special sausage reminding us that we were in Bavaria) made for a very good breakfast selection, the coffee was undrinkable - perhaps also reminding us that we should've been drinking beer. One of the nice reception staff tried to answer our question about the name of the hotel with a reference to three Moors that was somewhat contradicted by what we later overheard in a tour in the Cathedral. While I still don't quite understand the connection between three monks and a hotel in Augsburg, the current hotel evidently wishes to make some historical connections to a place that was once located here but destroyed several times - and uses the leitmotif of the three Moors present in the hotel's design to this effect.

We booked this pricey hotel online and splurged for two suites. The rooms were both beautiful;…read morehowever, when you pay more, your expectations are higher and I was frustrated! 1- the AC tries, but doesn't always succeed. In the older building, our room was always hot. My parents were in the honeymoon suite. There AC was set to shut off at night no matter what the guest wanted. My parents woke up sweating and couldn't figure out why the AC wouldn't turn on! 2- My room wasn't cleaned until 4pm when I called the front desk for a second time. 3- The elevator broke and we had to walk regularly up and down four flights of stairs, six if we went to the car. For 280+ a night, skip it!

Wonderful hotel in the heart of the city…read more Underground parking, helpful staff, and an amazing breakfast!! Wow--pastries, fruit, eggs, bacon and of course sausages! In fact the restaurant is also fantastic for dinner. Our room was very quiet even though we faced the Main Street. The bathroom finishes are modern --hot water delivers immediately out of the rain shower head. The toilet area is totally separate from the tub/ shower/ sink area. The bedroom has main lighting then reading lights above each side of the bed. There is also a mini fridge, safe and large closet/ drawer area. We didn't have time to visit the spa...next trip!

Let me preface this review by stating that I am not the biggest fan of Bavarian food, but felt…read moreobligated to have at least one traditional local meal while traveling through Bavaria. We had the beer-fried cheese as an appetizer; it was a good comfort food. I had the veal schnitzel which came with a cornmeal coating. I am not sure the cornmeal coating worked as it was more crunchy than crispy (1 star off), but the veal was tender and seasoned well. My husband got the bratwurst with sauerkraut. The ground meat to make bratwurst in Bavaria is more homogeneous and smooth than that in the U.S.; I liked the texture and flavor. I left still feeling the same about Bavarian food unfortunately, but this place gave me a bit more optimism.

The waitstaff is really friendly and accommodating to foreigners who don't speak German. They have an English menu too which is great. Everything my party ordered was amazing! There was no food left on the table once we were through. I ordered the roasted salmon and it was amazing. So flavorful and fresh tasting. My husband ordered the salmon pasta and that was really delicious as well. They have plenty of seating indoors and even have a kids seat. I highly recommend if you're in the area. I'll definitely be returning again if I'm ever in town.
