Not a lot to do in this city this is one of those things that if u are there why not check it out. After our meal it was perfect to take a walk here to check out the bridge & the views. There are no cars on the bridge just the train, nice big bridge with locks upon locks upon locks dammm ... if they ever decide to remove this like they did in Paris it's gonna be B**tch !! Nothing special as far as checking out the locks personally I believe the adding of the locks is so overrated people need to realize this isn't a good thing for the bridge does more harm than good but oh well to each is own. U can hang around for a few, enjoy the views & take some nice pics of the scenery.

Very cute love lock bridge in Cologne near the Cathedral. I bought a lock at a souvenir store and the cashier was kind enough to let me borrow a marker. Just walking across the bridge is an experience especially trying to estimate how many locks are on the bridge. It's beautiful to think how many people have left their mark behind and have been in the same place you're in. Definitely check this place out even if you don't plan on adding a lock.

This railway bridge over the Rhein in Cologne also has pedestrian walkways on either side of the train tracks While perhaps not the first bridge to do this, there are love locks attached to the railings. Lovers obviously have special locks made with their names on it specially to attach The display makes it a colourful bridge to cross and I found it a heart-warming walk on my way to Rheinpark on the east bank of the river

Firstly it's a much bigger bridge than I expected. It's huge! Considering I knew this was a love lock bridge and had been to the Paris one I expected something similar. But to hold the amount of love locks either side of bridge is quite something. Reminded me of a Brooklyn style bridge actually. It also has a fanastic view from here onto the Dome side. If you go right across you'll get the best view at the Golden Hour too. Then you can walk along the water and around to the other bridge to walk back to that side. Really loved going along that route on a nice day.

Hohenzollern Bridge is quite an interesting bridge. Instead of the cars, actually trains are the taking over the bridge. It links directly to the the Hauptbahnhof (main station). So it became quite a sight to see as well. It's a very busy bridge. Everyday have many different kind of train from different cities pass by. It's kinda cool. The best part is, they allow people use it as well. Bikes as well, so be careful. We walked on the bridge from one side to the other. it didn't really take that long to finish it. But the view was simply amazing, one side of the view directly to the river Rhein, really calm and beautiful. We stood there for awhile, couple boats went through the bridge. It was quite a nice view as well. The other side different trains were passing by, it was like dancing with the city. Along the side of the bridge, it was cover by love locks, it surely made the bridge more interesting. I personal did not really find the architecture of bridge itself special, but when you put it along with the city together, it becomes the image of the city.

Okay, I admit it, I came to Colgone simply to see the bridge. Well, people go to Sydney to see the bridge so I might as well travel to Cologne to see a bridge which is, well, not different to the bridge that happens to be in Sydney. It is just that the Hollernzollern Bridge really jumps up on people's radars. Well, it jumped up on mine because I my impressions of Cologne where crossing this bridge to go to the railway station, but then again the Amsterdam to Frankfurt train crosses this bridge to go into the station and then to leave the station. To me it is the four statues on each corner of the bridge, the Hollernzollerns that the bridge is named after, that get my attention, though if you walk over it you will discovered that it is covered in padlocks. In fact I have never seen so many padlocks on a bridge in my life. While I doubt that this bridge started the fad, people certainly have come here to continue it.

When exploring a city for the first time, it's nice to see the city from a helicopter level. That way, you start out big before diving into the city in a deeper way. KolnTrianglePanorama is an awesome way to do so. It offers panoramic views of the city from the top of a skyscraper. First off, I will say that it's not easy to find. Even with Google Maps, the directions weren't spot on. There are several skyscrapers in the general vicinity that look very similar, so it took us a while to find both the correct building, and the correct entrance. However, once you're in, for a small fee, you'll take an elevator to the observation deck. You'll have the opportunity to see the city from high above and take some nice pictures. A quick but fun attraction. And one that's listed on TripAdvisor as one of the top attractions in Cologne. Overall, Cologne was an awesome city! Enjoy it to the fullest if you're visiting just like I did.

Rather than with signs, landmarks are noted by delicate line drawings on the Plexiglas. A very nice touch. Admission was 3 Euros, well worth it. Visit this place !

I walked into the cathedral with the flow of crowds to stand in the perimeter while listening to parts of the Christmas Day church service. Later in the day, I returned to walk through the church. Came back on June 22, 2025 during our Grand European Viking River Cruise. Wife and I went in briefly, wearing long pants, to meet the dress code requirements. This despite temperatures in the 90s during the great heat wave of 2025. In my younger days I would have tried taking the 533 steps to the top of the Cathedral tower, but wife was in no shape to do that. Our boat docked about 1.5 miles north of the Cathedral. We got a new vantage point to view the Cathedral at night from the river. Sailed past the lighted Hohenzollern bridge at 10:20pm with the Cathedral in the background. The new lighting done to save energy barely could be seen, compared to the old lighting which lit up the sky. Undoubtably I was the only person wearing a Hawaii hat visiting the cathedral that day.
