Portions are generous. Flavors are big and balanced. Just delicious, whether seafood or meat or vegetables. We had scallops in a deep seafood stock, grilled hake with Thai infused coconut milk and lobster oil, and classic Indian butter chicken. Each dish outstanding on its own, all from one kitchen is wow. Presentation is thoughtful and beautiful. Vibe is cool without trying to be cool. Feels relaxed. Fun music playing without being loud or intrusive. Staff are fun and friendly and precise in their care. And to take it all to the next level was our host, Cesar. Not just thoughtful and welcoming but his passion for each dish and the care and thought that goes into them was obvious. His joy is genuine and we appreciated him sharing details with us so we could be part of the fun. In a city with so much wonderful food, La Madame stands out because it is a sit down restaurant, serving fresh and inspired and delicious food, with care and creativity and obsessive detail and pure happiness. Make a reservation, it's worth it. And take in the joy Cesar shares with you through every dish.

Good Many people had…read moresaid this place was amazing. The service was really good. The Scallops and Hamburger were really good from what the people in our group ordered. The scallops were a main course but only had 5 scallops not starch or vegetables, great flavor. So both that ordered the scallops thought they should be more to the dish. The large prawns from Ecuador influence was delicious with basil and peanut sauce. Everyone said the Indian influenced butter chicken was best dish of the night. The pork potsticker from Vietnam Was really nice. The waiter we had took us on a great food journey during the description. The cocktails were great with a nice variety. The Bad: My group had a 4 star experience I had a 3 star experience. To start we were a party of 6 and they only brought 3 menus and they asked me for my order before I was even able to look at the menu. So having to wait on looking at the menu was rather rude in my opinion each customer should get a menu. So started off with a negative. Especially since they were asking us to order when 2-3 people hadn't even looked at the menu. The waiter should let everyone know to share the menus when they only bring three menus for a party of 6. I ordered the Wellington 2.0 It should be called .5 For me it wasn't an improvement on a beef Wellington it was not even half a beef Wellington. It was a take on Beef Wellington. But the puff pastry was an after thought that didn't even cover the top of my steak. They said the steak would be medium and recommended that. It was just below medium rare very blood. The broccoli was cooked okay but not really seasoned. I had never had parsnips but figured I would try something new it had foie Gras, also so I now know this combination is not for me. See photos So I don't recommend Wellington 2.0 Unless you just very rare medium rare, with parsnip purées and foie Gras.

Such a wonderful chocolate shop to visit if you are in San Sebastian for the day!…read more I will be the first to say that I am not the biggest chocolate fan, yes bring out the pitchforks to hunt me down. With that said though, I do enjoy various types of homemade style chocolate and that is really what Casa Aramendia brings to the table. Located within the tight alleyways of old town San Sebastian, most may pass it by, but do yourself a favor and bookmark this if you are a chocolate fan as it is worthwhile. The staff is very friendly, speak good English, and more than willing to help you choose some delectable chocolate. While browsing around I'd suggest watching the back room where they are making the chocolate you are eating at the moment or in the process of buying. Like most chocolate stores, they are willing to let you nibble on a few samples to help you decide which bunch you will be devouring. One downside, which is a bad word to use in this case, is the chocolate is not cheap, but trust me it is worth it as the flavors are intense and insanely tasty!

What a delightful chocolate shop. Perfect place to grab a tasty souvenir of San Sebastian (you…read moreknow, one that will pair well with the local cider, txakoli, or Rioja you've already packed into your bag). We stopped in to purchase the ever popular chocolate iphone. All of the delights of the regular iphone, but with no bugs or new operating systems to make you mad. Super convenient location in old town by all the pinxto bars!

Items Selected: Mille Feuille…read moreParis Brest Butter Croissant Mini Chocolate Croissant Apricot Cake Cream Donut Part of a group of independently owned Basque bakeries collectively flying under the Ogi Berri Bread Company banner, Pasteleria Okindegia on Kalea Usandizaga was selected for road snacks en route to Bordeaux, and with some of the friendliest service encountered in all of San Sebastian the compilation of six French and Spanish pastries was not only a bargain at just €8.65, but for the most part also quite good. Small like most bakeries of Europe, the standing space flanked on three sides by cases, tables, and racks with no less than fifty items up for offer, it was to Spanish-only service from a duo of older women that inquiries were directed and doing my best to interpret gestures and descriptions the eventual order was boxed and wrapped with a great deal of attention, each item easily withstanding the subsequent three hour drive and a wait in the car during lunch, only the Brest suffering from any sog, though the whipped cream filling really did it no favors to begin with. Faring far better with options including an American style donut, the same cream here not having as notable an effect on brioche as it did on choux, it was admittedly slightly disappointing the same exact filling was used within puff pastry layers of the Mille Feuille, but with a crisp shatter to fork as well as tooth any complaints were quickly set aside considering the quality of each bite, the large slab ringing in just shy of $2 US. Happy to see some smaller options offered, both the butter croissant and two-bite chocolate version well-crafted though not quite on par with Galparsoro, the sampling ended with a sugar slicked roll flavored with fruit, and with a soft crumb something like coffee cake with a bit more moisture the flavor was indeed quite sweet, the jammy apricot center not dissimilar to the texture of pate de fruit.
