The location is perfect, very close to Schloss Trauttmansdorff and an easy walk to downtown Merano. This is a family owned hotel with the most amazing staff. Also, the woman who runs the hotel has a brother who's winery is next door and Georg Mumelter makes some of the greatest wines in the Alto Adige.

The hotel picked us up from the train station at no additional cost. The driver spoke broken English but showed up on time in a marked car and made us feel welcomed. It was around a twenty to thirty minute ride up the mountains to the lodge/hotel/resort...lol. Check-in was quick and easy and we were on our way to ski (which was half off since we arrive after noon). The local ski rental place was just a short walk from our room. Our hotel was directly off the slopes so if at anytime we wanted to go in from skiing we could...and the hotel arranged for pick-up our rented ski gear at no charge! Lastly our stay came with dinner. This was my only disappointment. The meal was mediocre at best. It started with a buffet style first course or "hors d'oeuvres". We had a choice of three second corse options and two entree options. Finished by a standard desert. It was not bad. I did not come with a drink so they had a menu of overpriced wine options available. All in all I would definitely come here again. Oh I almost forgot about the spa/pool area. They have one of those outdoor hot pools!!! I just can't say enough good things.

The owners, the Willeit family are good hosts and are friendly and welcoming. All the rooms are warmly decorated and have carpets and most have a balcony, some of which provide amazing views over the area. The bar downstairs is reputed to do the best Spritz (Italian aperitif) in the valley and judging by the number of locals that are always in there it can't be bad. There is also a nice terrace outside that soaks up the sun for most of the day and into the early evening.

We spend a week there in Feb 2023 and had a great time skiing and enjoy the amenities in the resort. There are many spas on the premise. The heated outdoor pool was my favorite. Very easy to get an appointment at the spa and the services are reasonable prices. If I remember correctly massages are $60-70 or so for 50min. They have many classes such and yoga and some that runs in the spa. There is an adult only spa section which was nice and there is a beautiful natural cold plunge. As for the food. The breakfast was great. Dinner was a bit disappointing. We ended up only eating in twice and went out the rest of the nights even though dinner was included in our package. The rooms and the beds are comfy and the gym is well equipped.

There is a large percentage of guests who travel from Munich which is a 3 hour drive. The resort is located in Oritsei which is a quaint mountain town that looks like it served as the original model for many North American ski towns. Nearby is Selva do Val Gardena, another popular spot for skiing and experiencing this World Heritage site.

We booked four nights based on a personal recommendation - plus the consistently courteous and helpful replies to my numerous emails - with the result that our stay at Rosa Eco EASILY exceeded our expectations. This oasis/enclave, set in the shadows of the breathtaking Dolomites, has the feel of a bigger resort yet maintains a certain ambiance, an intimacy, a personality that epitomizes genuine, understated hospitality. I realize that is quite a description; I can vouch for every word. This is "family-run" at its most accomplished. Our room (#9) was spacious and had a spectacular view. We took all of our dinners at the hotel and each evening revealed another adventure into the world of Tyrolean cuisine. The breakfasts were hearty and just what you need for the hiking trails that course through Alpe di Siusi. Spa...indoor and outdoor pools...exercise room...sauna...total R&R. A special note of recognition to Michela and Karolina, who survived all of my questions and delivered a visit almost, but not quite beyond words. Quaint little place located in Santa Maddalena, Italy. I booked this place a few months in advance…read morefor the picturesque views located online of the Odle Dolomites. This place is rural and I needed to travel one lane highways to get here. I arrived shortly before dusk and was a bit disoriented. Fortunately, I wasn't too far away from where I should have been and found it quickly enough. The family is the Fischnaller's, a German-speaking family with little English knowledge but very nice people. The apartment has two bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen with a bench space and a small TV. The balcony is covered and has a picnic table. The apartments has four radiators that provide heat and simply open the windows for cold air. The payment for rent is cash only. This area was once a part of Austria and became part of Italy after World War I. I used this time mostly to relax and decompress. Vacation is supposed to be fun but there are also much pressures in seeing everything on the list. My list in this area included two churches that had amazing views to the Odle Dolomites. I saw them both and was very pleased. This area has roads that are only big enough for one car only. There are a few restaurants in the area but most were closed when I visited. Fortunately Hotel Tyrol was serving food nearby and there was a local market called Neiderstatter that sold beer, wine, and some food items. Four stars!
