I am giving one star because I can't write a review without giving it a star. Sooooo. Me and my fiancee stayed there this weekend two years ago for her 28th birthday. She was my girlfriend then. Soooooo after two years of saying what a nice time we had and the lovely view we had , I decided that for her 30th we would go back but this time bring our 11 month old son. I booked a lovely double room which according to the pictures was something similar to what we stayed in last time around. I rang the day before our departure on wed the 21st to confirm if it would be OK to get a travel cot into the room as our son was coming Ohhhh the girl said on the phone, the room you booked is in the new part of the hotel which has a child free policy so we will have to put you in our other part of the hotel if your coming with your baby. Now for the same price I was thinking alright it still should be nice. So we made our way all the way from drogheda and were delighted with ourselves. We got their and checked in and we got put in to a room I can only describe as the night you go back and stay in your granny's after 10 years. It was awful and nothing like what we wanted as you can imagine. I rang reception and told the nice girl this will not do so she got a porter to come up to me to show me two other rooms. After looking at the two rooms I was beginning to wonder if they wanted us in the hotel at all. I told the girl in reception that I still was not happy and she told me that a manager was on the way up to me. A lovely man appeared at our door and could not be nicer. He told us we were not the first to complain about this and won't be the last as people who come alone as s couple often come back as a family and are disappointed and he offered us a comp dinner. We declined as I could not stay in such a dated room and for the first time in my life took me and my family out of the hotel and asked for my money back. The hotel though the staff are nice does not cater adequately for family's compared to couples alone. Having a pool for the kids does not mean you can take the same money for sub standard dated appalling rooms really poor rooms. We felt like we could not get the same level of hospitality because we had our baby with us. Folks when you pay 270 euro for two nights B&B with your son or daughter you can get a better level of care if you leave your children at home because you get punished if you bring them and discriminated against. This is not a child friendly hotel and the gulf in quality to when you do and don't have them is frightening. We are now in the Sheraton hotel in a modern room and we feel like we are wanted. Go alone to the hodson. We will never be in it again. Thank you. read more
