It was a challenge finding parking but when we did, we excitedly walked to the park anticipating the enjoyment we would all have. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were greeted with multiple signs advising that the park does not allow dogs and encouraging people to walk their dogs around outside the park. We did that, as well as attempting one of the trail options but we have better options for that without driving here, hence the two stars. We also understand the necessity of not allowing dogs is specific locations so this review is for anyone researching because the Internet has told them this is a dog friendly place. It is not.

The baseball park was in use and a few people were wandering the park. Not too busy on a Saturday but there was a lot of nature to see. They have a lot of displays set up so you can see how various animals make their homes. For example black bears and some varieties of birds. Lots of time and money (there are many interpretive signs) has went into this location. It's worth a walk through. The office is open M-F but you can check out the nature outside anytime. There's camp sites and washrooms - a playground for the children too. And, of course, there's the water sports - boating, water skiing, jet skiing, canoeing, fishing. The crew of 5 (Mason, Noelle, Reya, Will and Sako) were amazing and really worked hard with a smile to make sure we were safe and taken care of. Every meal they made was gourmet. Isn't there a trail where you can see the darn views from the trail? Also WATCH OUT for a nasty, well hidden, big rock in the parking area. If you don't see it, you will drive over it and get stuck!!! That just happened to me. I had to have a towing company come rescue me, at my own expense. (AAA doesn't service unpaved roads!). A few passers-by told me they've seen others stuck on this damn rock!

It's…read morelocated above Ashland and can be reached by driving through Lithia Park, continuing up on Granite Drive until it dead ends, then driving on dirt for another mile. It can also be accessed through Park Street, a fairly uphill residential road east of downtown. It's a multiuse trail, which means you'll share it with bikers, hikers and possibly horses. The trail offers lovely views of the area, but at times traffic from below can be heard, which makes for a little less quiet. The western side of the trail tends to be quieter; the eastern more populated with neighbors walking dogs. Overall, a lovely trail.
