It's really big and has massive sections devoted to music, games and dvds. Split over a couple of floors, there's bound to be something that interests you. In addition to the normal categories they have a good range of accessories, band t shirts, music books and biographies and so forth. The staff are pretty knowledgeable and usually quite eager to help. I've always found the most useful staff are in the computer games section, they seem to know what they're talking about the most. Catch the sale and you can get some real bargains - CDs at £2.99 and so forth. Either way this is a great shop to browse, you're bound to pick up a CD of a new band or a DVD you've always fancied watching at a reasonable price. This is the only HMV 'superstore' in Leicester, though there are a couple of smaller shops within the city. It has three floors, with each one being dedicated to either music, dvd/blu-ray and compuer games. The layout is excellent and it is easy to navigate between titles and genres which are categorised well. The main sticking point I have with this HMV and HMV in genera is the prices. Sometimes they offer excellent deals on certain albums or dvd's, but on other items they are incredibly expensive, compared to alternative online retailers, such as Play or Blah DVD. As other reviewers have commented, its also a little irritating that HMV's website will sometimes sell the same items you buy in store at a cheaper rate! That said, you can pick up some bargains in store that you can't on the website, if you are prepared to do a bit of searching, also look out for any sales they have on and you can grab yourself some excellent bargains. I tend to use the internet for a lot of my music/movie purchases these days, but I do still like to spend time physically browsing the cd and dvd racks at the store and make some impulse purchases and for that, you can't go wrong at this HMV with the choice available. read more

This is an impressive HMV slap bang in the middle of the town - not far from what was the shires and is now high cross - or from a local McDonalds. Its split level - upstairs is a huge range of CDs and downstairs DVDs and crucially if you are like me - GAMES - WII / PLAYSTATION ETC ETC The range is excellent. The prices arent bad, although I find somethings very expensive in HMV and others the cheapestin other words with this kind of stuff it pays to look around The AZ layout of CDs is really good, and I have looked for some failry obscure albums previously and found what I want. HMV Leicester has a great layout. Two floors dedicated to all your CD/DVD/Gaming needs. The places are sometimes a little steep though its worth going in when they have sales on to snatch up things cheaply. They stock a huge collcetion of music spanning a variety of different genres like Pop, Rock, Dance, Classical and Metal and the staff are always on hand to offer advice and are polite and helpful. The DVD department doesn't really have as much of a selection as the music one does. It'd be much easier to buy DVDs online from the HMV website or another place though you can occasionally manage to dig out a rare gem. read more

HMV has three branchs in Leicester, this is my favorite. There is a large selection of Rock/Indie which is my favorite type of music. I could browse all day long. I go onto HMV's website and find it crazy that its cheaper on there most of the time, so I tend to just browse instore and buy online. I have found HMV leicester good for CD singles, much cheaper than on the interent, strange really. read more

Great place to pre order tv box sets and films and music and music DVDs and I like the whole shop as it's better then ever now and I would recommend this store to anyone who collects tv series box sets and they may have older box sets as well as they get lots in all the time and I would advise to ask at the DVD basement for what you are looking for and music is top floor to pre order music and they do autograph signings as well and so your in for a treat guys read more

Really nice spacious store, with CDs and Music upstairs along with games, and downstairs a 1st class choice of DVDs HMV can be a bit pricey is you want soemthing niche although they have lots of stock and capability to order very quickly. Sometimes the box sets are on special and worth checking out. Good store, good staff and a really good location too read more

Staff are friendly and the music is the same as most HMV stores, I think its a bit small and could do with some other sections like gospal music or 70's, 80's and 90's in one of the sections too. read more

the store does have a great layout and so much choice it is just huge, you get different displays like top of the charts, new relese and cds are in alpherbetical order so you can usually find what your after. the staff are always helpfull and will happly guide you to what your looking for. the store is just great with so muh choice in dvds, gaming and cds. read more

HMV is one of the biggest stores of its kind in Leicester. They have lots of different genres and the choice is unbelievable. Spread over three floors, there is enough choice to spoil you. The prices are not to bad and the good thing is that they accept student discount too. Once you walk in, you will definately walk out with something. read more
