So we called in to place an order and asked for what they reccomended us to try. I grew up eating Hong Kong styled foods and can say that this place is pretty decent. We ordered the braised oxtail, sliced pork neck with green horn pepper and the pork chop with salt pepper and it was delicious. However, the braised pork belly with pickled vegetable was not it for me. It was way too mushy/jelly like for my taste. The price for the dishes are pretty high up there as 4 dishes costed us $96 which is ridiculously high. I also think it would've been better if we ate inside the restuarant rather than ordering takeout. I will be coming next time to try more of the "over rice style" dishes and the infamous Hong Kong Style Tea. read more

This is my second visit to the restaurant and it is nice to have a go to HK style restaurant in Staten Island. I really enjoy their HK style milk tea and the fish with corn sauce was really delicious. Fish pieces were crunchy and sauce was flavorful. The salt and pepper items were great too. My toddler love eating both the salted egg yolk wings and the salt pepper wings. Staff is welcoming and is always open to your honest opinion of the food. They been open for about a month now. Finally a Hk style cafe opened up in this lonely island !! It was a former sushi place but now transformed into an eatery with authentic hk milk tea, baked rice dish, fluffy egg sandwich and Cantonese dishes. My all time favorite are their baked pork chop rice with cheese and tomato sauce, Hk milk tea (top 5 in nyc) and their salted chicken. I came to this new restaurant on the 3rd night it's been opened and this place is PACKED! Constantly people in and out for take out or delivery. My mom and I went in hoping for a table but we ended up ordering to go, which took 40 minutes. Flavor is phenomenal and definitely worth the wait in my opinion. The restaurant is small so there's limited amount of seating. We were lucky enough to get a booth and it was comfortable. The service was good. The staff is very courteous. Unfortunately, upon arrival, the restaurant was still gated and seemed to be closed (even though their hours state they open at 11am). This isn't replacing precious island but rather if you're in the mood for a different sort of Chinese cuisine, then I'd definitely recommend this place. This also doesn't replace jade island and it doesn't try to be one or the other but it does separate itself as distinct from the Asian cuisine. Basically with all the different pizza places on the island, there are places where it's not your typical neighborhood pizza like deninos or Joe and Pats. That's probably the best way to explain HKS Kitchen. The only thing right now I wouldn't get again is the "oyster cookie" because it's just an omelet - also fyi, I prefer this, but you may not like the Kyoto pork chops as much because they're a little fatty than normal - I like that though! read more

Their Hong Kong style milk tea and lemon ice tea are superb and very authentic, pretty much the same as the ones in Hong Kong. Salty egg yolk wing is very good as well. We also tried their baked curry rice and baked black pepper spaghetti. Both were excellent with tons of flavors, definitely in the top 5 around NYC. One of the first Hong Kong cafe in Staten Island, had it a few times already, the prices are a few dollars more compared to Hong Kong cafes in Bensonhurst and sunset park, but the food is pretty good and the service is wonderful. The place is not big and does not have parking besides street parking, but we were greeted with friendly staff and the food comes out rather quick. We had tried their shiitake mushroom yi mein, curry chicken over rice, fish filet with cream corn sauce, and their HK milk tea hot and iced. Forgot to take pictures but the food is always good and tasty. The curry chicken may be a bit spicy for some people but for me I think it has just the right amount of flavor and spice. They also offer ramen, baked spaghetti and rice, and appetizers. I ordered their spam and egg sandwich for $4 which isn't too bad for the simple sandwich, it was your typical spam and egg, they don't cheap out on the spam like other places so. I have been ordering from HKS since they open and the food was delicious and HOng Kong style. Love it so much!! Unfortunately, recently these two times I order and got disappointed. The food was not like before. The Buddha delight and seafood egg noodle was not like before. The sauce doesn't taste as good (like less flavor). The vegetables is overcooked and not much variety inside(same vegetables). I don't know if they changed the chef, if so, can you get the old one back. I grew up in Hong Kong and missed HK food so much after moving far away from Manhattan. Great to come across this restaurant, and went there on a trip to Staten Island today. The service was excellent and friendly, just like going to a neighborhood restaurant in Hong Kong. We ordered a fried noodle with sliced pork, salty egg yolk chicken wings (deep-fried), and baked pork chop over fried rice with tomato sauce (so HK deli style). The sliced pork of the fried noodle dish was a bit too salty for me, but the noodle was spot-on crispy. The chicken wings were crispy however were a bit bland, may need a sauce or stronger marinate. The nostalgic baked pork chop was tasty and brought back all the good old childhood memories. Forget to mention I also ordered a "Yun Yang" (HK coffee and tea mix) which was authentic and delicious. Overall, the service was excellent, and the food was good but has room to be improved. I definitely will go back every time when I pass by or on Staten Island.
