He snapped at me once for daring to put down $10.50 worth of purchases on the counter when the credit charge minimum was $12. (I was new to the neighborhood. Forgive me.) Now he just snapped at me because their credit machine couldn't read my debit chip. He sneered at me before demanding the cashier get another card from me as though I were a criminal who was obviously up to something. I absolutely wasn't. Also, was that the greatest way to treat a regular customer? (I almost shoved my bank balance on my phone into his face, then I reminded myself of my actual age.) I swore I'd never come back to this a-hole, but I know I will. I'll be back because their sandwiches are delicious, and they're 50 steps from my door. The coffee is fairly excellent, too. Best of all, the whole bodega is spotless, which speaks volumes compared to other places. So customer service sucks, but it's a bodega, not church. I'll get over it, I guess. I'll just have to. They're too good.

I do have to note the scone was one of the best scones ever. I really struggled to not buy a ton of scones to go (which is a pleasant option) The staff was delightfully friendly-though visiting the area they made us feel like regulars.
