They were selling Sambo/Golliwog dolls at Womad, on the same day of the recent massacre. Sonya Renee Taylor, a black queer woman who was performing at the festival, politely told them that the dolls are racist and offensive, and that is was especially upsetting to see them on the day that so many black and brown people had been senselessly killed. She was dismissed and told that she was wrong. Since then, they have silenced all criticism on the matter, simply deleting and blocking any negative reviews. Taylor is a celebrated author and speaker with a large platform, which should not matter. She deserved to be heard and respected.
