Hines Pool and Spa has serviced our pool for years. The entire team is knowledgeable and does a good job overall with repairs and cleaning. About a year ago we had some problems after the Oak pollen fell in the Spring and our pool looked horrible. We were assigned a new service tech, Melissa and she was able to completely turn everything around and keep our pool sparkling clean ever since. She is a wonderful communicator, positive, hard working and lets us know what she has done every week in a quick text. Our pool has some cracks that I previously filled myself. My work wasn't pretty and it held up for about a year. It's very difficult to do this under water. So I called Hines and found out that they do provide a scuba service. The repairman, Jessie, called me ahead of the visit to get a sense of what's going on. Our schedules had some challenges as I was traveling and wanted to be there when he arrived. He stayed in good communication for us to work things out. The work turned out excellent. Jesse also took care of servicing our filter and when he saw that the Polaris wasn't working too well - he suggested he takes it back to the shop for service. When he came back to reinstall the Polaris he called me to see how well the pool is holding water and seemed very interested in checking the results of his work - which were excellent. I have his cell and he confirmed I'm welcome to call him if anything comes up! Really excellent service. Highly recommended! read more

We are renting our house in Austin and cannot take care of our pool since we live in another city, so we contracted with Hines Pool and Spa to do it for us. Our pool has a small leak in the line somewhere and in order to get it diagnosed, it has to be in pristine condition. We spent a week in Austin getting the pool cleaned and ready for regular maintenance. After that week, Hines was supposed to take over cleaning. We trusted them to take care of it. One of their cleaning technicians was on vacation, and they did not send someone else out to clean it. As a result, the pool fell out of balance, and since there was still a leak, the water level fell below the skimmer. Sandra D., from the Cleaning Department, assured us that they would cover the costs associated with getting the pool back to normal, since they did not begin work when they said they would. As a result, we had to reschedule with the leak detection company (there was a huge backlog due to the winter storm). The technician went out and was unable to clean due to the water level being too low.... because there is still a leak that we cannot get fixed because the pool is out of balance! Sandra sent an email saying that Hines Pool & Spa is unable to move forward doing business with us, and that we should feel free to explore other pool servicing options. I was very respectful with my correspondence with everyone at this company and sincerely do not understand this very unprofessional reaction. It seems that fixing their mistake has become too costly for them and now they simply refuse to honor their word. read more

I do not recommend this company for remodeling. Excuses, delays and little or no communication. If you want your pool remodel to take a year and you want to sit with an empty pool and a pile of Trash in your yard - then choose Hines and pay top dollar for this treatment. read more

After the recent winter storms our pool equipment was damaged and inoperable. Chris from Hines was scheduled to replace a pump and install a heater for us prior to the storm. He was very thorough in planning the upgrades and coordinating with our plumber to run the new gas line. The results were top notch! We had a pool pump motor fail after only 13 months in service. Mike came out from Hines to check it out and, as it turned out, replace it. Mike did a great job and is a real pleasure to deal with. Not only was his service outstanding, but Hines treated the job as covered by the warranty. They didn't have to do that, but they did and it is very much appreciated. Hines is an outstanding company to deal with and they have some great employees, including Mike. We've been with them for several years now and plan to stay with them. I understand that pool lights can be very tricky. Chris came right out, immediately fixed the one he could, and then ordered the one he couldn't fix. I needed a part for my pool so I called Hines to have a technician come out and diagnose and fix it. The tech showed up said he thought he had the part and he would go to his shop and let me know if he had it or if he had to order it. I waited a month and heard nothing from this tech. No call no messages left, absolutely nothing. I get a bill for a $170 service call and all the tech did was come out look at my pool and say he can fix it and left, THATS IT! So I called Hines to tell them I would not be paying for a service call that their technician did not follow up on or complete a repair. The supervisor I was talking to noticed I was a bit upset because I could tell he wasn't going to do anything to help me. Long story short, he hung up on me, in his defense I did raise my voice, and in my defense I never used profanity, I lowered my voice when he called me out on it and then he hung up on me. I called back and I told him I was not paying the invoice and if my credit suffered because of it I would have a talk to my attorneys. He then said I threatened him with a lawsuit, which is not accurate and again he hung up on me. I simply told him if he felt the need to penalize my credit I would defend my self with an attorney. Not for nothing, but I feel a grown man should have enough intestinal fortitude to be able to handle a few non profane words of dissatisfaction over the telephone without feeling the need to hang up on a customer. And by the way, Patriot Pool and Spa came out after i heard nothing from Hines and knocked out the job. Too bad Hines, it was a $2000 job. Perhaps Mr. supervisor you should listen to your customers instead of hanging up on them. But not to worry, ill never be a customer of yours again. read more

We contacted Hines because they are listed as a warranty provider for Jandy/Zodiac. I was pretty disappointed that our regular pool company couldn't replace a faulty cell that was under warranty. Chris helped us through the whole process and was great to work with. Do not use these guys for pool plaster! My pool was built in 2008. After 11 years it needed new plaster which is fairly typical. Hines Pool company did a full replacement in 2019. After less than 12 months it was showing multiple cracks and holes. This has only accelerated and now after 3 years the bottom is a mess I need a new plaster job. I called Hines pool 2 years ago and they sent someone to look who just said it was algae while completely ignoring the fact that the algae was uncleanable because of the numerous pits and holes. Don't use these guys for pool resurface. They don't know what they're doing. read more

Family owned, treats their employees like family and they are completely honest, reliable and they haven't billed for extra items or services not needed. Most companies that have serviced our pool have said "I don't carry that part in my truck (a fuse for gosh sakes!) and I'm billed for their travel time to go buy one not knowing this was going to happen! I've had these guys out to my house 4 times now for different reasons and I'm completely impressed with their professionalism and customer care. Jethro was out this last time to fix our spa pump. I can speculate all day on why they are like they are but the facts are all i can tell you about. They quoted me for a pool repair which didnt include actually finishing the job. I suspect they underbid the work. As it stands now I have an unfinished project and have to go to another source to get it completed. They were not very communicative, hard to reach anyone or get a response when I needed to extend my work. We knew going into this that we may have more work needed to get the pool done right. I called several times to get a written update on the work and got no response. Seems tough to find anyone to get the job done in a timely manner and communicate properly. I do not recommend this company, the price was right but you get what you pay for. read more

Hines pool and spa service 1)Used their own chemicals when I specifically asked Travis of Hines pools to use what I bought from Home Depot 2)Overcharged on chemicals 3)Inserted "universal" part on Polaris that caused Polaris to get stuck4)addressed "fake part with Travis which never got resolved4) Erratic and unresponsive service. As a physician the issue here is not that I didn't want to pay but an unethical company that wouldn't hear me as a customer. I called and explained the situation to some one at Hines whom I assume is the owner. I explained my problems with Hines Pool and Spa. Amongst my issues is that Hines service was extremely erratic but I tolerated that because Travis was a reasonable chap. When he inserted the fake non Polaris but "UNIVERSAL" part and charged extravagant money (I later discovered), it caused the Polaris to repeatedly get stuck. In addition the hose kept coming undone resulting in significant loss of water from the pool. When I asked to have it fixed nothing was done. I then went to Leslie pool store and was sold the correct Polaris part and inserted it myself which fixed the problem. I called Hines and asked that before I pay my bill I want to see what I was charged for the fake part called Letro. I eventually got the bill for $600. The service charge I was happy to pay but the use of chemicals (significant surcharge) I disputed as did I dispute the fake "universal" part. The company representative said he would take off the charge for the Letro but under no circumstances was he prepared to discuss the charge by Hines for using their chemicals rather than mine. The chemicals that I bought at Home Depot stored in the pool room and asked Travis to use. I have subsequently hired West Lake Pool Service (Mark+1 (512) 241-9891) . They have been amazing, not charged me for chemicals and even came in on a weekend to repair a cracked pipe. They have NEVER missed their day for cleaning. And they're less expensive than Hines. When I told the Hines representative I would write a report on the internet about my experience, it was brushed off as no one would read or believe me as its all about the bill. Well, I called back immediately, payed the full bill minus the Letro. This is not about the money but about an unethical company that charged me for chemicals when I asked them not to. It's about using a "universal" part that caused the pool cleaner to get stuck and was never fixed. It's about erratic and unpredictable service. PS I'm a neurosurgeon so feel free to choose whom you wish to believe. read more

Ive used Hines whenever my jacuzzi hot tub needs some attention, first time call the circuit board gave up (warranteed no charge ) one time i had a leak the 3 guys who answered the call put it in its side and found the leak within minutes fixed it and it was ready to be refilled within the hour i only paid the material used and for 3 guys labor but only for the time they were actually in the home 2 left after they as positioned on its side and returned to replace it in its original position , total bill less than the $1000 i had expected to pay from feedback received other companies.considering its a 8 year old tub they get 5 stars for satisfaction, professional ability , reasonable prices & promptness read more

Called on a rainy Monday morning to request service for my thirteen year-old Jacuzzi fiberglass hot tub. While it's been well maintained, it just 'quit' heating and any other operation other than maintenance-cycle automatic low-speed filter circulation. Was told that they would call as early as they could get to me; and was happy to receive a call on Wednesday afternoon telling me they were available if I was. The technician, Pat, arrived fifteen minutes later. He was patient in removing some of the redwood decking that blocked access to the control area. After wrestling with a stripped decking screw and the dilapidated tub skirt for quite a while, he got access. The problem was immediately obvious; at some point, field mice had taken winter residence next to the heater (there was nesting material). Out of hunger or boredom, they had chewed through every control panel connector wire multiple times. He employed his diagnostic tools and (to my relief) determined that was the only damage. He happened to have replacement parts with him, and had everything installed, thoroughly tested, and buttoned up in no time. Two lessons for everyone... Monitor your tub for similar rodent problems; it seems that the warmth and water are calling cards for this common problem. Second, the guys at Hines were friendly, competent, and thorough (and the price was decent). read more

The first 2 trips by Hines were great! They cleaned and treated the hot tub and while the sand wasn't completely removed, it was sparkly and nice. Now that we've asked for a review of why the tub is leaking and why the thermostat is flashing, no one comes when they schedule the appointment. Due on Thursday, no one showed. We come home on Friday to a not that they attempted but couldn't because the gate is locked. Yes, the gate is locked on the days no one is scheduled to service the yard or hot tub. They unexpectedly left another not on Wednesday. We'd not been advised they would try again the next week or given a day so we could unlock the gate. It's called a phone! I've heard they allow you to call and let people know your plans. We called back to get an appointment only to be told that we'd have to wait now that there are so many flooded pools from the recent storm but I'll try to swing by between 5p - 6p. Guess what happened?!?! Can you guess??!? No one showed. No one called. Please use common courtesy and let your customers know when you can't make a scheduled appointment and need to change it. That's all we ask. We're understanding people but we can't leave the gate unlocked on the off chance you might show up. Our dog, Houdini, while blind, can sniff out an insecure gate within 5 paces and will be gone in a second. read more

This place sent a very nice gent out to assess my swamp and he gave me a great quote for refinishing my pool surface. Lower than any other place in town. In about a week after payment they had some bros out to clean and prep the surface. Took them about 3 days to complete. I believe 2 or 3 days after that the plaster crew showed up and was done in less than 2 hours. Everything looks pro af. Anytime I need to I can bring a sample of water to them and they'll let me know what I need to add to it. I do have a salt wather system and was surprised reading the other reviews here with people bitching about their salt water systems. It's very apparent they have 0 clue that a salt system isn't very different from a chlorine system. The device either inline or in your pool converts the salt into chlorine and the plates in the device usually need to be replaced every other year sometimes every year. Adding chlorine to a pool with a failed salt generator makes perfect sense. Either read the manual or enjoy your algae. Other reviews said they had trouble getting in touch with the staff here. WHAT??! They have a phone number and are open Mon-Sat. I've never had the phone ring more than once on their end. TLDR The 1 star reviewers here are plebs that are either ignorant or don't follow through. I've dealt with this place several times and they've always been as reasonable as any other professional business. read more
