He lives at 89 St Benedict Street and comes out of his house to scream at people who are peacefully sitting in the shade on the steps not doing anything but just enjoying not being in the heat of the summer sun for a few moments. There are signs posted about parking and towing away cars, but in front of the church there are no "No Trespassing Signs" in front of the church steps, or even on the corner of St Benedict and St Francis Street. Perhaps there should be which would make it very clear to all the lack of humanity, compassion, and community of this particular neighborhood church. And truth be told it further annoys me as someone who lives in the Lincolnville neighborhood and whose taxes helped pay for the new elevator, the complete refurbishment of the exterior and interior of your church to the tune of over $600,000. But hey if you had a sign right in front of the building that stated emphatically "No Tresspassing by Order of the Police Chief" it would be very clear. Unlike the St Cyprian's Church down the street that has a lovely garden with benches and invites the public in for a respite. Or St Benedict who holds a biweekly food bank and invites all people from everywhere to participate and allows for people to play in their field. What a sorry excuse for the neighborhood.

Rich has recently transitioned home to His Heavenly Father. Our time here over the last month has been meaningful. The Father and Son who shepherd Family Church are rooted in the Word of God! The praise team usher the congregation into the spirit week after week. The entire church is engaged and singing along with each song. My grandsons actually look forward to attending services on Sunday. This is what any parent or grandparent looks forward to hearing from their kids. They're learning about the Bible and Jesus. When I asked them, what they learned today, they can explain and express themselves. Hallelujah The alter call is genuine and a sincere pull on the heart to get it right for yourself with the Lord. We are not members of Family Church. We're still seeking a spiritual home. I felt lead to share that attending Family Church over the last month has been a welcoming experience for me and my family.

The intricate workmanship from the church's interior, to the exterior, to the ceiling, to the windows, the mausoleum, and to the fixtures, are so epic. You can see by the many photographs that I posted the beauty of this interior space. My wife and I attended Mass one Sunday morning, and it was a beautiful Mass, friendly priests and friendly parishioners. When in St. Augustine, my wife and I attend Mass at the Cathedral Basilica in the old city. But it is closed for renovations. we stumbled upon send Sebastian, and now this will be our church when we go to St. Augustine on future trips. One of the local touches that I noticed on the interior was, they used coquina in the construction of the altar and in the Construction of the lectern. I recommend this church to anyone that is visiting St. Augustine.

It's a pretty cathedral with lots of history. I especially loved the wooden beams on the ceiling, it reminded me more of Dutch architecture than Spanish. One of the odd quirks of this particular cathedral is that you exit through a gift shop, which kind of threw me off and didn't feel genuine. Overall, if you're interested in architecture and history, this is an okay stop while exploring that city but definitely not a must.

On Palm Sunday I'm struggling with American Churches! Russell and me and Amelia got up this morning…read moreto try out a new church for Palm Sunday. We heard good things about it from other locals. We are running kinda late because we had trouble finding it. We go in and no one is overly excited or friendly. In fact we had to find our own way to the sanctuary! We were treated better at the Greek Orthodox Church! We find some seats. I'm immediately turned off by this church because there was a lead pastor and some woman(maybe his wife) talking about their mission trip to 1st world countries! This is my problem with the American church today! These pastors claim to be called by the scripture to go out and spread the message of God throughout the world, while Rome burns around them. They all are arrogant in this interpretation of Mark 16:15-18. It sickens me that this church literally used the phrase "don't be Americanized" of the church when they never mentioned anything they are doing for their own community, their own congregation, or their own country. Imagine what America would look like today if these American churches put even a third of what they put into South America, Europe, Asia into American cities, speaking the gospel to the lost, and the hopeless here at home. Would we have this invasion going on at our southern border? Would we have the LGBTQ+ taking over as the new American religion? Here we have in Saint Augustine a homeless and drug problem that you can see if you ever venture into the historic district once and there they stood on stage today for nearly 40 minutes talking about how they change the lives of these first world country people when in their own backyard, there is lost and broken people. I'm so tired of hearing how wealthy America is and how we're the bread basket of the world. Well, Americans are struggling to pay rent, pay mortgages, to buy groceries and get gas. Russell and I had to get an AC guy out here last night cost us $225 and you know what? He said it was his second job. And here Russell and I sit with Amelia in a church for two hours with no message of Palm Sunday or Holy Week, but briefly mentioning Easter next weekend to say that they'll be super busy next week, so "be prepared." At the end, Russell and I felt like we just wasted two hours of our day not being fulfilled with any message. In fact, we think the church resembles closely to the one that is portrayed in the movie Four Christmases! It wasn't a good impression for newcomers which I found hilarious because they said if you're new, give us five tries before you make your decision. Ridiculous! America is dying! She needs Christians to stop being arrogant to come together and save her! Before you can go throughout the world and preach the wonders of the Lord, you must take care of your own people. Americans have become the forgotten!
