This was our first dinner at the resort. We had a big happy hour party out in the courtyard by the pool with some nice sushi and other appetizers so I wasn't really that hungry when we got there.
After a very lackluster lunch at the buffet downstairs, I was looking for some really good food for dinner.
Travel companions (three other couples) that had been here before raved about this place and were hell bent on dining here. In fact, one couple that arrived the day before us had eaten here the night before and were still wanting to come back.
It's nice on the inside. Not fancy at all. You had to reserve the hibachi tables. We missed that tid bit of information so we did not get to partake in the live hibachi experience.
Service was strange. Kind of turned me off from the start.
The push to buy bottles of wine is a strange play for the resort in my opinion. You can drink certain wines by the glass for free, but it seemed that anything at my table we wanted could only be bought by the bottle and charged to the room. If it were a reasonable price for a known brand, I would be totally down. These folks are trying to sell a blended bottle of three different wines for $80. Come on man. Who falls for this??
The guy kept pushing things on us we didn't want. I understand that it's all inclusive, but if we don't want it, don't freaking bring it.
We ended up with enough food for thirteen people at least. I feel bad wasting food like that but no way we could eat it all.
We had a bunch of sushi, which was probably the best thing we had. We had some tempura shrimp, three orders in fact. That was number two. Miso soup was ok. Edamame was good I suppose. Gyoza was not good to me at all.
My entree arrived and I was so full I could barely touch it. I guess the fact that it wasn't that good was a positive.
I had the Schezuan Shrimp for my meal and it sucked. The rice was mushy and clumped together. The shrimp tasted really fishy. I just nudged it out from in front of me.
Then he tried to shove desserts down our throats as well. Go away dude!!!
Two lackluster meals in a row had me pretty worried at this point. We had several more days to go and I had only had a couple good bites out of all of the food we had.
I think my dining companions enjoyed it much more than I did.
Three stars would be what I feel it deserves, but others seemed to enjoy it so I will edge it up to four.
I'd skip it on the next trip here and go to the other three restaurants that serve nice dinners.
