This location is conveniently located to downtown. There are water front units that have balconies. All you need is within walking distance. There is no other parking than valet which is $28.00 but you have nothing to worry about. The room was nice and quiet. Perfect location! Everything is in walking distance! We only stayed for one night. Our room was on the first floor in the building across from the reception. So, we had a view of the valet guys lol. But, we spent our days exploring St Augustine, so only really used the room to shower and sleep. While walking around, if we needed a break and A/C, we'd stop back at the hotel and sit in the lobby for a few minutes. That's how close this hotel is to everything. They do not have luggage storage, but will let you put your luggage in your car. Just have to remove your car by 3pm. The employees were really nice. Would definitely recommend this place. read more

Our first stay here; and, I can guarantee it will not be our last. What a terrific property, right across from the bay; and, just steps away from the historic quarter of St. Augustine. We arrived early; and, our room wasn't ready, so we left our car with the valet and bags with the bellman. We went shopping and had lunch; and, were called immediately when the room was ready. The room was comfortable and clean; and, everything was in working order. We are Gold level members of Hilton, so we received two bottles of water at check-in, as well as on departure. We also received coupons that basically provided me and my wife with free breakfast and coffee each morning in the Starbucks downstairs. Maintenance is continuous and the crew keeps the place in tip-top shape, with some carpet repairs being made in the hallway that our room was on. Overall, it was very quiet; but, one night we had some disturbing music from another room - almost like a baby lullaby; but, loud! I booked with points, so all we had to pay for was valet parking and food for our daughter. Valet parking is mandatory; and, you will get no complaint from me. The valets were consummate professionals, as were the bell staff and reception counter personnel. Check-in and check-out was a breeze. read more

We had been to this beautiful hotel before and was initially very happy when we received a location by the pool. We weren't in the room long before we left for a family wedding but did notice that room was freezing cold. We turned the air temp up in the room from ~72 to 75 and left. We returned to the room around midnight and the room still felt like 40 or 50 degrees. We turned air temp up again to ~78 and went to bed. We froze all night and got up a few times to raise the temperature higher. We finally turned off the air conditioning since it remained feeling ~50 degrees even when set to 85. We woke up to a very bad "outhouse like" smell (like someone had gone #2 in the room) and this odor remained in the room until we turned the air back on. We later learned that they had been working in our room all day the day before, so I now assume this was a known issue. We also later leaned that the room next to us had broken air conditioning but the hotel put a window unit in to try to keep that room cool. Water dripped non stop from the ceiling vent in the room which left black (we assume mold) spots on a towel which our family put under the drip to catch the water. Adding insult to injury: 1) We saw larger cockroaches in the room twice. We don't know if it was the same one each time or different ones. We were not able to catch them. 2) We saw a rather noticeable light gap in the morning below the door leading to outside pool area, showing an implied gap, but we were not able to see an actual gap. 3) The bathroom sink faucet was installed far too close to the mirror so we were not able to get cold or hot water from it due to the design of the faucet which had to be pulled back & turned to get cold or hot water. The cold water was most important to us for both our coffee water and to brush our teeth (water from a hot water heater isn't as clean). 4) The plastic Kleenex box had a flower made out of tissue on top, but the box was completely empty. Not even an empty paper box was inside. This is not a big problem, but it was very odd. We spoke to the front desk clerk twice about these many problems and was assured that the hotel manager would contact us on Monday. They did not read more

TV did not work. Front desk was not concerned, said I could speak with the Manager (Sharon Howell) the next day on a one night stay. Had to hold shower curtain while taking a shower to keep water off of the floor because the frame was broken. Requested and PAID for adjoining rooms but the door jammed because of a loose screw and the door could not be opened or secured. The manager came in while checking out but could not help me because she did not clock-in for another 10 minutes. She called later and I tried explaining all the problems to her and she ended up hanging up on me after trying to interrupt me before I could get past the first problem. In the end, they billed me $53.25 for the broken items I tried to report. (I believe the manager is psycho and this was a way of getting back at me when I said I was going to take my issues Hilton Honors because she would not listen). Her staff seemed to be afraid to get her attention. One was new. I was still billed for having an adjoining room which I was not able to utilize. They admitted the cable was loose behind the furniture which I tried to tighten but could not move the furniture by myself. There was no explanation of how the $53.25 was broken out but I probably paid for that repair. Sending the picture below to the email I was given for the manager received no response from the manager. Do not expect problem resolutions if you stay here. The staff is new and intimidated and the manager thinks your stay is all about her. read more

We came to St. Augustine to explore it quickly and had no hotel reservations for the evening! We decided to try our luck and see what we could get. Well we got very lucky as we scored a great rate at this Hilton right in the heart of the city! Everything is walking distance from the hotel! You won't need your car to explore the core of the city, and that was exactly what we did. We walked all around town, we had a blast during our trip. The hotel carries the Spanish flavor of the city in its colorful tiles through out the reception area and waiting area. The room was modern, comfy, and welcoming. The staff was extremely helpful, attentive and pleasant. I highly believe that they have the best location in town for lodging! I will definitely come back and stay over to explore this city that I love so much! read more

What a great place. Billing itself as the smallest proper Hilton in the Americas, it has been designed to fit nicely into St. Augustine's historic district. We opted for a room with a private balcony overlooking the water. We had a beautiful view of the Bridge of Lions and the island on the other side. Inside, the room was clean and nicely appointed. The fact that the hotel's 72 rooms are split amongst several small buildings add to the sense of privacy. Parking is valet only and costs $21 per day. Here is where we lose a star. To me, valet parking should be a convenience, not a requirement. And if you're staying at the hotel you don't really have any other parking options anyway. To me it's like renting a jet ski for the day, only to find that they're charging an extra $21 for getting it wet -- it's an unnecessary extra fee that you HAVE to pay if you want to stay there, not a convenience charge like they try to make it sound. I'm angry about it, and I even knew about it ahead of time. I'm sure some people don't notice it when they book, I feel bad for them finding out at the front desk. Alongside the front lobby of the hotel is the Aviles restaurant. Like most other proper Hiltons, as well as most Doubletrees and HGI's, this hotel offers free breakfast for 2 people for each night you are staying if you are a Gold tier or higher HHonors member. The breakfast at Aviles is as much as $17 per person, so that can be a significant savings. Too bad more than half of those savings are eaten up by the ridiculous parking fee. If you're going to stay in downtown St. Augustine, you might as well have waterfront, right? And the Hilton is a terrific place to spend a few days while visiting this historic town. We asked for one of the rooms right on the street with a balcony and enjoyed our entire stay. Highly recommend this upgrade if it's in your budget. You can have your own outside patio facing the water for those evenings sipping on wine and watching the sun go down after all the daytime tourists have gone home. So relaxing (and romantic) watching the lights downtown, bayfront bridges and the gorgeous boats go by against the backdrop of the night's sky. Very special and worth the money. Easy and friendly valet parking available with excellent customer service. Perfect location and walking distance to where you want to be in St. Augustine. Adorable hotel. Spectacular. I arrived after sunset on a long drive from New Orleans. (I couldn't appreciate the full beauty until the following morning.) The valet attendant was inside but immediately helpful. The front entry is small but the Spanish-style charm is welcoming, as was the gal at the front desk. I took my belongings to my room and came back down to find a place for dinner. I found a spot in the block just behind the property, and the same gal from the front helped direct me there. I walked there and back by myself alone at around 9pm and felt safe. My room was nothing shy of lovely. I'd forgotten I booked a room with a whirlpool tub. And there was a quaint balcony with a decent view. I imagine it's a great spot for breakfast or an evening cocktail. The cleanliness was top notch. You forget how important that is until you don't have it, so it's worth acknowledging that this place is kept in prime condition. When I left the next morning, I was able to appreciate more of the beauty in day time. And, again, everyone was helpful and friendly: the gentleman at the front desk and the two valet attendants, one of whom remembered me from the night before. The hotel is only two stories high, to be expected from a beach front property. I had problems with a different three story property feeling (and smelling) like an old motel. This didn't at all. It truly lived up to the Hilton name. I wish I'd have been there longer to enjoy it. read more

After much research I decided on this wonderful property for our first visit to St Augustine and very glad I did. It is the second smallest Hilton in the world with only 78 rooms but the very first in customer service. The room we stayed in 109 had a huge balcony overlooking the bay and we were able to watch all of the people walking by as well. The food in the restaurant for breakfast was perfectly cooked and we enjoyed it all. The whole staff as extremely helpful from the front desk to the wait staff to the valet. If you are going to visit in Dec you must vote for them for the contest of lights as they won last year! read more

This Hilton is best for a tourist because of all of the sights, places to eat and activities. For me, a business traveler it definitely didn't suit my stay. Regardless that's not why the low rating, there were situations that were irritating. A major issue was that I paid extra for the bay front view and when I showed up, I was given the bay front but the balconies are openly connected. It was also next to a very busy road and where tourists/tours walk by nonstop. I really couldn't leave my blinds open since it was the 1st floor and open view. Consider that it's not a peaceful bay front view, it's actually of a road and interrupted by people ALL the time and THEN the bay. My balcony was also the corner walkway for hotel guests to get to the sidewalk so I had twice as much foot traffic right next to my room. I really am not exaggerating, the tourists were a 24 hour pain in the a$$. People were able to smoke cigarettes, hang out in front and stay on the sidewalk to stop and talk or take photo ops of the area. I sat on my porch for awhile when I decided I was over sharing my stay with strangers...definitely not okay. Next stop: the pool. That was a total joke. It was so small that 2 kids were enough to take over the pool. Maybe I could sit on the edge to enjoy their splashing. No thanks! Next? The gym! Okay, it wasn't bad! The machines were pretty good but definitely a small gym. It was clean and empty during my workout. The Tvs on the machines didn't have a signal but there was a giant hd tv. Room service and food was okay....no complaints. The front desk was super friendly and so was the rest of the staff. The valet was a forced fee and there wasn't a number to call on my card so you're forced to go ask for your car and waste time waiting for someone to get it. I'm not even sure how that's considered valet?! Isn't the point to have my car ready so I can grab it and go. When I told the valet guy I forgot something about an hour after he parked it he asked if I'd go get it, handed me my keys and told me my space number. He was nice but dude, your job is to handle my car. I just shrugged it off and grabbed it. Strange 'valet' though and I saved the tip for myself. Shoot, I'd hire me. I was quick for a first timer. Note to self: Add valet worker to my resume tomorrow. Joking, of course :) The area is the prime reason to stay. It's not secure or peaceful and the pool is tiny so I won't be back...ever again but if you want to be the best location to the touristy places it is worth checking out. read more

I am a devout Hilton-ite. I love all things Hiltons and only stay at Hiltons. To this particular Hilton, however, I say meh. I would have honestly given it two stars if it weren't for the valet. I know that seems weird, but the gentlemen who valeted our car over the five days we stayed there were so exceptional. I wanted to take them home with me. ("I'm taking the kids to school now. Please pull up my vehicle.") There are hardly any public areas for you to hang out, play cards, wait for your kids to finally appear, etc. The lobby is super small. And for a hotel in Florida, the outdoor areas area really lacking. The staff doesn't seem to pay them much attention, so they're always a little dirty and unkempt. Our room WREAKED of mold and must. So much so that the car now smells like it from putting our suitcases inside for the ride home. The room was super small. We had a little bit of an outdoor patio, but the chairs were dirty and it was concrete and super unenticing. (Did they not realize they were building this hotel in Florida?) The restaurant is what you would expect for a hotel restaurant. Just okay. The staff seemed friendly enough, but didn't really go above and beyond to make sure your stay was exceptional. The location is excellent if you're looking to wander the historic areas of St. Augustine. If you're wanting to go to the beach, it's about a ten minute drive. (And then you get to talk to the valet guys.) We asked for dinner recommendations, and they honestly didn't get it right , recommending old stand bys. (Search here on Yelp instead.) Would I stay again? I would. But I would make sure our room wasn't moldy. (Other rooms didn't seem to have that problem. If there was a room with a door open, I would creepily stick my face in to smell it. If someone posts a review saying a weird lady kept sticking her nose in the room, that was me.) Overall, set the bar lower than you would for other Hilton hotels, and you'll be a lot more satisfied. read more

As most Yelpers and reviews noted, the small pool, smaller rooms, limited HHonors Gold perks (only 2 free breakfasts) and parking score some lower points. But location, location, location. Did I say great location in historic St. A? We had a great view of the fireworks poolside. Service is great! That made up for most things that may be lacking. The GM was making the rounds at breakfast, hotel housekeeping staff were attentive, and restaurant service was great. The morning buffet was smaller than other Hilton hotels and made to order eggs and waffle maker sometimes got behind but their professional service was outstanding. Balcony rooms are a plus but expect it to be harder to get or comes with a premium. You can park in the city lot or in the trolley lots and tool around by foot or trolley as most everything is accessible with a short or minimal walk. I'd come back again without question. read more

I stopped at the Hilton Historic Bayfront for a quick visit to St. Augustine. Tiny by Hilton's standards, the hotel still provided everything that we needed for our visit. Our room was comfortable, with a balcony overlooking Matanzas Bay. It was unfortunate that the door to the balcony was broken so that only a small bolt lock kept the door closed but the room still seemed relatively secure and the door stayed shut when closed. The room itself had two comfortable queen sized beds, a writing desk, and a couple of chairs. The room also comes equipped with a good sized TV and a mini-fridge for stocking your own beverages. Room service operates only from 7am until 11pm. It would be nice if they started earlier and ended later but it was quick when we called. As others have noted, this hotel is within walking distance of just about everything in Old St. Augustine so it is a great location for anyone who likes to walk. We stayed here for one night of a romantic kid-free weekend. The location is great- waterfront (with views from some rooms, not all), but walkable to many of the best bars and restaurants, as well as historic sites. The check-in process was seamless - desk staff and valet staff were friendly, competent, and quick. They may have really been one of the best-trained hotel staffs I have ever encountered. The room was basic. The lobby is gorgeous. The main aesthetic complaint was just that there seemed to be a lot of trash and old patio furniture (or maybe they were cleaning it?) piled up right outside of our room. I was impressed by the staff's professionalism and friendliness. I felt very important. I had called ahead to ask to check in early and for a playpen and they were both ready. After checking into the room someone even came in to check in on the playpen. No other hotel has ever done that. The room was great and very clean. The cleaning lady always cleaned up after us and provided us with fresh towels. I made sure to tip everyday. She even left a kind thank you note. The only issues I have with the room were the WiFi didn't work well, the water pressure in the shower wasn't that good, and the bathroom door wouldn't stay open ajar, it kept opening all the way and banging into the front the door. Other than those minor issues, oh and the toilet overflowed and there was water all over the floor the last hour I was there right before check out; other than those issues the room was comfortable. I loved how close it was to everything and they provided cold water in the front and two complimentary bottles in the room. I took full advantage. I may stay here again. read more

This is a great spot to stay at while visiting St. Augustine! It's centrally located and a short walk to many restaurants, shops and historic attractions. Check in and out is very easy and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean, the only downfall and the reason for a star deduction was that the air conditioning didn't work for a period of time and it happened to be while getting ready to leave for a wedding. The staff sent in a maintenance person who was kind enough to reset the air and get things cooled off. We dined at the lobby restaurant and had two great breakfasts served by very kind and pleasant servers. All was good, I'll visit again next time I end up in St. Augustine. Just a tip....there's cold waters for the guests in a cooler just outside the front door by the valet. read more

I stayed at this hotel on three different occasions. The first time service and accommodations were great.That was before the pandemic. We came back twice in the thick of the pandemic and now .Things changed. The hotel is not as clean as before with areas in bathrooms, under the tables, hallways left untouched.This hotel is very old and without proper management will show it , like mold smell, soft uncomfortable mattresses and pillows that will give you a neck strain. But the reason I decided to review this hotel now is due to the unpleasant encounter I had with the general manager Scott.We paid $600 per night for what was supposed to be a bay front room , with a patio as the pic showed .We got a second floor room noisy as hell next to the pool which was fortunately not used at the time due to cold weather.When I expressed my dissatisfaction over this and tried to get info on the new Renaissance hotel that had room during a relatively busy Valentine's weekend he told me that I can go wherever I want, stating that they own that hotel also and turned his back and left.It was one of the desk attendants who actually offered to move us to the room I thought I'm getting for that price but only for 2 out of 3 nights as they just booked the room. It should have been the manager who should come up with solutions during a crisis.As a refund would have been impossible in this situation we accepted the offer but we're not planing to return to this hotel in the future.I advise other travelers to call the hotel and secure the room and remember that the 1st bldg with the nicer rooms are numbered in the 100's.And BTW I don't think patrons should be allowed to smoke pot in the rooms even if medicinal is legal in the state. A hotel is a public place and Marijuana use even for medical purpose is illegal in public places.Just a suggestion for Scott the manager!. read more

This place blew me away! My employer put me in this hotel, so I didn't seek it out myself. When the Uber pulled up, I thought we might have gone to a wrong address - I was expecting a typical huge Hilton... no so fast! This looks like a little villa or business you see in the movies. I was put in room 114. The room was spacious, the bed was huge and super comfy. It had a jacuzzi tub in the corner of the room, a spacious bathroom with a shower. There was a cabinet with a coffee pot and pamphlets, there was a desk, and a dresser with a 42 inch flat screen TV. The room had a water AC unit that pulled air from outside. The windows to that room faced the east and you could see the Matanzas River (which leads out to the Atlantic Ocean) and the Bridge of Lions. It was such a beautiful view! The only thing I could complain about is if you were driving - it costs to park + tips. Thankfully, I was being carted around in an Uber. read more

The smallest Hilton in the Americas is not at all small in terms of quality. They have valet parking that is not included in your room charge. So please take note of this if you're going to stay here. We already knew ahead of time, and actually found it to be more convenient than we had imagined. The concierge and valet folks are extremely courteous and allowed us to take things from the car if we needed to, and even let us leave the car there while we spent the check-out day walking around town. The rooms may be smaller than most Hiltons, but they do not lack charm, quality, and most importantly, cleanliness. Our King-sized bed was comfortable, and the Bayfront view did not disappoint. Do keep in mind that the bayfront is across the busy street from the hotel. Nothing is right up along the bay except for the road and Castillo de San Marcos. But what a great view of the Bridge of Lions nonetheless. What a convenient location this hotel is in, too! We walked back and forth between destinations and nothing was too far or strenuous. I would've given this hotel 5 stars if not for a very confused and perhaps somewhat inexperienced staff member at the front desk when we were trying to check in. He seemed to be reading things wrong left and right, and even misinformed us as to where our room would be. Luckily, the clearly more experienced staff member came to his rescue and all was right again. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that's planning on staying in St. Augustine and willing to spend just a tad more than just any ol' hotel or motel. Great location with beautiful views. Room was recently updated. Really enjoyed the balcony. However, restaurant and bar was a real disappointment. Bar is tiny in thru-hallway! Dining room is small; it's like a Hampton Inn with the ambiance of a cafeteria. The menu was sparse and not very appealing. We decided to order room-service rather than suffer in the dining room. It took three calls and 30 minutes to get the kitchen staff to even take our order. Food came in paper bag served on plastic tableware. A really unexpected disappointment overall! read more

This is the best hotel in St. Augustine. It is right on the waterfront between the Fort and the Bridge of Lions. Get a balcony bay-front room if you can. We go here each year for Christmas. It is so nice. Great beds! It fits in with all of the St. Augustine historic district. The restaurant is not so great for the prices they charge, but there are a ton or great places all around it! At Christmas, the whole downtown is lit up and it is cool, not too hot. The staff treat you like gold here. I can't wait until Christmas to go back! read more

My family and I love this place! I actually live in Jacksonville, FL but my parents like to come and stay here every year for their anniversary and they refuse to stay anywhere else! The location is fantastic, the staff is friendly and they have a nice happy hour! I will say that most years my parents get a complimentary bottle of champagne and unfortunately this year they did not, which they did look forward to also their room's shower did not have good water pressure. They also asked to be upgraded to a better balcony and wound up with a view of the back of some restaurant and two queen beds...my room was 138 and I thought it was fantastic, clean and roomy. Really a great hotel right in the middle of everything in St Augustine. Service was exceptional, and they truly did all they could do make sure we felt welcomed and taken care of. I was shocked at how reasonable the prices were for food/drink - I think a Starbucks coffee here cost less than at a regular Starbucks, and anytime you can get a great drink at a hotel bar for less than $8...score. Some reviews whine about the parking, but consider this - on the street it's $2.50/hr and unsecured; here it's $25 for 24hrs and you can relax knowing your vehicle is safe & secure.
