I truly have mixed emotions about our stay here. There's a lot of potential here but the rooms definitely need some attention and apparently so do their reservation systems. I booked two rooms on the same reservation and when we arrived the young lady said she only saw one room. I told her one was booked with points but they were the same reservation. Nope. She asked for a confirmation number. I gave it to her and she said that's the one she already has. Well there was only one confirmation number because the two rooms were booked under the same reservation. I ended up having to check in using the app, which clearly showed two rooms had been booked. I asked for the rooms to be as close together as possible and she literally put us as far from one another as possible. So that wasn't a great start and then the rooms needing some TLC didn't help this review. For example, the shower in one of the rooms drained at a snail's pace. Like seriously ... it took nearly an hour. The toilet ran constantly in the other room. The rooms were quiet though and had all that one would want / need in a hotel room. read more

The Hilton Santa Fe Buffalo Thunder was easily our favorite hotel stay during our summer road trip. This place went above and beyond our expectations! With multiple on-site restaurants, a casino, gym, pool, candy shops--you name it, everything was extremely accommodating and made for a relaxing, fun experience. One downside: there weren't enough luggage carts. We had one upon check in, not at check out. Not the end of the world, but something to be aware of. The bigger issue was the state of the balcony. Right outside our sliding glass door was what I can only describe as a "door mat" of bird poop. When we looked up, we saw several swallows' nests above the balcony. While we weren't attacked or anything, it was pretty gross and made it impossible to enjoy the balcony during our stay. Despite that, the overall experience was still fantastic. If management addressed the bird situation and increased the number of luggage carts, this place would be close to perfect. Still highly recommend it for anyone visiting Santa Fe! read more

Amazing what 10 years between visits can do. This place is now a dump. Hilton should not keep their name on it. The rooms are not as pictured online. I booked and stayed in a suite and it was in bad shape. The hotel and its restaurants are understaffed. The Turquoise Trail Cafe informed us of a 45 min wait for a table, it ended up being 90 minutes. The hostess informed us they only had two servers working that night. The food was mediocre. The hotel staff seem miserable and security is nonexistent, even when requested due to shady characters following individuals. I won't ever stay here again. Save your money and go to any one of the other resorts around Santa Fe. read more

I used points and booked this nicer location for our final leg of our New Mexico road trip. It was the perfect location to day trip over to Taos, Bandelier, and the hot springs because it's actually about 20 minutes north of Santa Fe. I would definitely not pick this hotel if you don't have a car. We never even stepped foot in the casino. And the staff at the restaurants seemed like they hated their jobs. I also had a minor problem with trying to check out early. I was told I had to call Hilton then told on the phone that a front desk manager would have to help. I got the runaround for sure. Our room was very big and nice, so that service requested was delivered. But I wouldn't stay here again. read more

Stayed at this hotel for two nights and it wasn't too bad of a stay. This hotel is connected to the buffalo thunder casino so if you are in to gambling, this might be your spot. The hotel does need updates, the hallways run long, the rooms including the suites are a little dated. There are two sides (the casino side rooms and then the rooms on the other side of the building.) They also need to get the food options together. They have one nice restaurant open majority of the time but it's only evenings. Most of the lunch spots were down during my visit. But the bar was up and going. It doesn't help that there is not a lot of food options near the hotel so if you don't have a car you may struggle. Again not much to do without a car so wouldnt recommend if you don't plan on having a rental or your own car. read more

And don't even get me started with my room. We personally had a fireplace and it was breath taking. We went to get breakfast at the iguana and it was a lovely morning. I had my 88 yr old mother with me on this trip. And my sister who is 61. When we got to the room, mom used the bathroom. The toilet was not fully flushing. I called the front desk and asked for someone to bring a plunger. We left the room for dinner, came back, the toilet seat was up, we assumed the toilet was fixed. We changed into swimsuits and went to the hot tub. Upon our return, showering, getting ready for bed, we all needed to use the toilet before bed. Again, it was very sluggish. It took several tries to flush. It was late and we decided to call the front desk again in the morning, which we did. We went to breakfast, when we came back, there was no sign that anyone had come by. I called the desk again, they said there were several maintenance calls ahead of us. I asked if we could move to another room, which was agreed. This hotel is running on a skeleton crew in every aspect. The restaurants, the front desk, the maintenance. Starbucks has a satellite location here, off the lobby. They closed before noon each day we were here. I'm guessing it's difficult to get more help, as this hotel/casino is about 15 miles from Santa Fe, but keep that in mind if you're going to book here. The lines for the restaurants are long, and you'll also wait for your food. They're not functioning at more than maybe 75% staff, and that's probably generous. read more

So we booked the hotel about a week in advance and got confirmation that there were several rooms available the day before. When we got there, the front staff by the name of Carla told us that our room was next to an elevator and as a diamond member that was the only room that they had left. After we asked to speak with the manager, carla came back and told us that she had to downgrade our room and that she could get us a suite that would be away from an elevator. On our way to our anniversary dinner, we found the manager, a lady by the name of Anayeli and she helped us find a room that wasn't a handicapped downgraded room. The next morning when we went to go to the Iguana Café to eat breakfast, there was a line for about half an hour of people waiting to be seated at an empty café. We later found out that they are short staffed and consequently, looking for help/waiters. Throughout the time that we were there, we heard people complain about the service in different locations of the resort. The gift shop was pretty amazing. The pool looked nice, but we never got in because it was pretty crowded. The service was OK if you are persistent about getting help. I almost forgot to tell you that we tried to get bottled water on our floor, but the machine took our money and we had to walk all the way downstairs to Ask for the complementary waters on our first night. Many of these reviews talk about the resort being enormous and having to walk a lot. This is no joke, bring comfortable shoes if you're going to come here because there's a lot of walking just to get to your room. read more

We just stayed for several nights and this place is amazing. It's huge and such beautiful art work all over. Just sp much to see. The pool is so nice and over looking the golf course. I highly recommend anybody to stay here. Especially if you have kids, they have a nice little place to play games at pool table, it's a little out of shape but it's still good. *visited from Houston* This resort is beautiful! The design was very nice! It is somewhat secluded, you would definitely need a car or use a transportation service to get to downtown and/or airport. There is PLENTY of parking. It is a very walkable resort-views of the mountains were endless. I had a room with a balcony, near the Spa. Room was SPOTLESS. It was very clean and well-kept. Kudos to the housekeeping team and their exceptional cleaning!!! I wish the tv had the Capability for Bluetooth or mirroring from the iPhone. Or I wish the tv had apps like Amazon, Netflix or something; however, the channels were decent (HBO, Food Network, HGTV). The staff wasn't really helpful. There are two shuttles that don't run-I wish shuttles were available for transport to the airport and/or downtown. Instead, they give you information on transportation services, ok. For this hotel to be about 20-25 minutes from the airport; shuttling services would be nice. I utilized the Spa which was pretty pricey, the casino is ok. Restaurants were decent. The grounds could have been kept a little better. The patio area for the Red Sake had ton of trash and bird poop on the chairs and tables. Overall-a nice resort. I would stay here again. read more

Poor excuse for customer service. The building is not too bad, could use an update in the halls and rooms. Maybe several more elevators or even stairways. Kinda surprised it passes fire code as it is a half mile hall to the elevators and another mile to your room. They let DOGS in and do nothing if the dogs are barking in the halls or rooms. They charge you an additional $10 for the wifi, but only in some parts of the building. The kids running the front desk are assholes. They even lied to me about transferring me to the manager. Would NOT stay here again if it was free. Disappointed to say the least . Makes you wonder if they even have a manager. It is a $$$ pit. Everything is an up charge. Food is at a 2 on a 1-5 scale. Old run down rooms. Even the Governor's Suite is worn and out dated. There was no bell service to help with luggage. The hotel registration attendant hid in the back room as soon as he saw me approaching the counter and I waited before I said, "excuse me, could you help me?" The resort isn't making much money obviously- to employ other helpers, so customer expectations should be low for this place. The furniture in rooms are well used and it shows. The rug leading to the pools are damaged and often dampened with a moldly smell. Renovation could help, but not with the current revenue, I'm sure. We LOVED it here! Clean, spacious rooms with beautiful balconies and views of the mountains. Friendly and attentive staff. We're not big into gambling- unless you count taking an 11-year-old on vacation! The pools were superb. There is an outdoor pool with a hot tub- plus an indoor pool and hot tub in case of rain. Delicious food at the Iguana cafe- with a delightful server. Tons to see and do right in the hotel and a short drive to Santa Fe. We will definitely be returning! read more

Early Monday morning got some emails that I had purchased 7 tickets for Orlando Universal Theme parks at a cost of $1200 with my credit card. So wasn't what we expected, I've always associated the name Hilton with a higher standard of service. But this wasn't the case here. As far as service anyway. We decided to drive for our vacation instead of fly so we could do things at our own pace, ended up in Sante Fe a couple hours early because the Pueblo in Taos was closed due the the eclipse observance 2023. Called ahead to try and check in a couple hours early that was a hard 'no' stated our room would be ready by 4, got there said give us another 30, not happy. Upon making the reservation 2 months in advance requested a room close to the elevator, our room winded up being 1 room from the end of the hallway not happy but heard it could have been even farther upon talking to other guests, lol. As far as the room went bed slept nice, King size even better without the 2 dogs that usually sleep with us!! Not much for pressure as far as the shower goes but it gets you wet. When we left for a day of shopping at the Plaza asked for our room to be serviced was told that wasn't happening, asked for fresh towels at least and that's what they did give us fresh towels and restocked the mini coffee machine. Maybe that's the norm now? There was on on-site Starbucks which I guess was a Starbucks express as the selections were limited and they were out of half the items that they offered. So anyway the casino is accessible from the hotel, a couple of gift shops, a candy store, a couple restaurants that have limited hours, 1 we never saw open and a golf course. In my opinion I expected a better experience for $300 a night but maybe I shouldn't have. Not sure yet. Oh well on to Las Vegas Baby!! read more

The good~it's a cute looking place. The Bad- I recently stayed at this Hilton and was thoroughly disappointed. The location is far from everything, with the nearest restaurants or activities about a 25-minute drive away. To make matters worse, all the restaurants within the hotel were always closed, including the pool bar. Only thing open eat the coffee stand. The rooms were dated, with old carpets that smelled like dog urine, which made the stay uncomfortable. For those traveling with pets, be aware that the designated pet relief areas are poorly maintained and full of thorns, making it unsafe for animals. For a place that charges a non refundable pet fee, they need to invest in better pet accommodation & take carpet out of the room. It's GROSS Overall, I would not recommend staying here unless major improvements are made. It's simply not worth the inconvenience or discomfort. read more

I normally stay at Hilton hotels and this one looked nice when I looked it up on the Hilton website. Normally I stay in Albuquerque but decided to drive a little further to check out Sabta Fe. The hotel room was clean as was the bathroom. Everything was great. On the first night I had dinner and the meal was good. My son thought the steak was salty but I didn't get a chance to try it since he covered it with his napkin. The hotel has a casino and a few other restaurants. There is another restaurant downstairs so make sure you look for that since it is not easy to find. I enjoyed the hotel and wonder if other guests just had a bad visit. read more

Room was nicely appointed as we remember from previous stays, but we ended up in one of the rooms with KNOWN wifi issues, and we were here for work, needing wifi. No IT tech staff on duty, and no General Mgr could be bothered with helping remedy this. We went to the desk with suggestions on how to remedy the zero wifi in room 5205, and there was no one that could or would assist us. At least we were moved to another room, which did have wifi MOST OF THE TIME. If you walk to the bathroom, wifi disappears, living area, it comes and goes. We had a difficult time working from this hotel. After researching reviews, we found that this has been a KNOWN issue at this hotel FOR YEARS. We ended up working through 3AM to complete our work when the wifi seemed more stable. Next morning, screaming kids next door to us seem to have been left alone in the room, woke us up, so there went our sleep. Seriously- these children appeared to be 4 & 5 years old, and were out on the balcony screaming, alone and unattended. We asked from the next door balcony if they were alone- one replied no, the other said "yes, our parents are working". Unbelievable. Needless to say, we checked out early. We do give a shout out to Desk staff MAX, who seemed to care about our issues and concerns. Others did not seem to care. ALWAYS CHECK THE WIFI IN YOUR ROOM BEFORE ACCEPTING IT. read more

Buffalo Thunder is back! The entire experience has changed for the better since Covid times. We now have bellmen to carry the baggage, daily housekeeping and full staffed amenities. All of the staff are cheerful and I feel they are appreciative of my return business. I am so glad that Buffalo Thunder has taken the time to begin the basic maintenance that the building needed when I last made a review. There are some minor maintenance issues still to be addressed, but all the major ones have been seen too. The indoor pool and spa are immaculate. In the guest room, the carpets are clean and the doors all close and lock securely. I feel comfortable in this desert oasis once again. A well run hotel/resort. read more

We stayed here for a conference a few days. We had a lovely spacious room & housekeeping did a fantastic job the place was spotless & the decor is gorgeous throughout. The meeting rooms we were in were clean & AV staff were good. The staff who did our catering were all super helpful. I wish there was coffee besides meh Starbucks but I brought my own coffee & tea & I'm glad they had coffee bean & tea leaf in the rooms. Indoor pool & hot tub in winter was SO nice. Fitness room is better than most hotel gyms. There was a Tesla concert but it was sadly sold out. Happy for free parking. Front desk staff were friendly & helpful. The things that weren't great: as others have said it's far from downtown so it's best to rent a car as I did or keep a taxi company number available as my friend did. Iguana cafe was very average, bar closed at midnight & the only restaurant closed by 10 so we had ramen in our room which was ok but not ideal. read more

ALL AREAS ARE REVIEWED 1-5, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. Reservations-5-as always, made mine via Concur. Parking- 5-Pretty easy, really large lot but really large hotel. Dedicated Diamond parking up front Ease of check-in- 5-Very easy, used the app but also picked up a plastic key at the desk. Staff was very friendly and answered all my questions. Room- 3-NIce Hilton room, bed was super comfortable and large bathroom. Very difficult to figure out the lights, one main switch on the wall and then one by the bed, if you turn off the hall light, I couldn't turn on the bedside reading light. Not a fan. Mattress/pillows-5- Super comfortable bed and plenty of pillows. Elevator speed/availability-5-Would give these elevators a 6-super fast. ( I stayed during the week so there were not as many folks using them, but super quick) Gym/pool-5-All of the cardio machines worked in the gym-that's a FIRST! Equipment was nice and clean, plenty of free weights and machines to get a good workout in. Didn't go to the pool/spa. Restaurant-3-Food wasn't bad but the service could use some assistance. Waitress brought out food and we had a ton of plates on our table, she said that she would come back to get them and didn't come back for a while. Menu is a little limited. Staff-5-Overall, really nice, especially in the gift shops. Available snacks-4-Since we were there during the week some of the amenities were not open/available. They do have a Starbucks on the ground floor which opened early. Price-4-Pretty average for a Hilton, not to high. Overall-Solid 4- Would have been higher if the service had been better in the restaurant. Shout out-6 STARS to Justin, our card dealer in the casino. He really took his time to explain the game, make sure we made intelligent bets, and actually made sure we got paid out when we failed to double down on a great hand. Really nice guy!!! read more

The building itself is beautiful with lots of lovely artwork everywhere you look. The hotel room was nice, showing its age, but nice- also clean. None of the reasons I can't give it 5 stars is inside the room - the light switches are befuddling. If you turn off the switch by the bed- it also shuts off power to the lamp that has an electrical outlet- perfect for plugging in your phone, but NOT. As I woke up to find out my phone wasn't charged. I tried different combinations of turning off different switches to keep that lamp powered on- to no avail. It was like someone had a good idea, but never stayed on the room to see that it didn't work. This wouldn't stop me from staying here- but I wouldn't to share with others so they don't run into the same issue. read more

Do not waste your money on a room with a balcony. I booked a room with a balcony so we could enjoy breakfast on the balcony in the morning. Unfortunately, there is a large noisy A/C unit right outside door. There were also nests of some kind in both corners of the balcony and excrement on the ground. Clearly, the balconies are not cleaned often. I also found long black hairs in the bath tub and on the bathroom floor. I hope it was from a housekeeper and not the previous guest. read more

The room on the 4th floor was very clean and spacious. I loved the very large balcony. I loved the room and balcony overall. We had some trouble getting the Internet to work, but received great IT help. While the large balcony was great, it had some pooled rain water and when we asked for a squeegee to remove the water, we received a broom, which couldn't really get rid of the standing water. The outdoor furniture had no seat cushions. Also, the vigas above the balcony were in poor condition, which was a bit scary. The desk chair in the room looked like it needed to be replaced. The worst part of our two-day stay was definitely the food at the Red Sage restaurant and the Lizard breakfast place. While the service was great, the food was expensive and not that great. The portions in the Red Sage restaurant are very small. My salmon was a bit overcooked and the cheese cake tasted like it was from a box. The pasta was undercooked and very oily. The breakfast at the Lizard restaurant was worse. The coffee tasted like it was brewed the day before and the hashbrowns were undercooked. Skip the restaurants there and eat somewhere else in Santa Fe. read more

Dirty hotel with so many bugs in t. Walls are paper thin and with so many kids around for the pool it's so loud. One of the kids even pulled the fire alarm in the middle of the night and half the hotel had to evacuate. Also the Starbucks located in the hotel absolutely sucks they don't make drink to recipe and the staff is rude. read more

First time shame on you, second time shame on me. Do yourself a favor, do not pick this place to relax and enjoy. It is way understaffed! The rooms are dusty. The employees that are here are way over worked. Sad that they deceived us not once, but twice. I was here in March for spring break and they forgot to mention that their pools were closed. My child was devastated. Here we are again, Summer break, the indoor pool is still closed, Starbucks is closed, their cafes are closed, and their out door pool is like being at a fraternity party on the the bad side of town. Beer cans floating in the pool, fights breaking out, I seen a guy rolling in with 3/ 30 packs of Budweiser and a microwave on a luggage cart! 280$ a night you would think that they'd have better security and enough staff to handle such a large facility. We stayed here for the week of New Years. Their wifi was not working the entire time we were there. They said it would be fixed the following Monday. I had planned to work remotely that week and although they may have had connection in the lobby, I was looking forward to working from the comfort of my room. Additionally, our room was set at a specific temperature and we were unable to adjust it. It would get pretty warm in there at times and at night I was sweating. We also saw a roach in the indoor swimming area, so they should definitely look into that as well. Overall was an okay experience and the rooms are nice. read more

We checked in and went to our room. The room had worn out furniture so we asked for a different room and it was worse than the first. I'm sure she knew it. We were on our way to Colorado and we were planning on staying a couple of nights at Buffalo Thunder Hilton on the way back home. After the way we were treated we decided not to make reservations. Our view from the second room with worn out furniture was the top of their roof with a huge AC unit. Anyway it was free since we hit on a $1 slot machine at the casino and won $1016. We cashed out and took the money and run. This was by far the worst Hilton we have ever stayed in. It's a bit hard to get to the property because it's a long drive from ABQ and not easy to catch an Uber always from Santa Fe. But the area is beautiful and the Iguana Cafe is delicious. Highly recommend the breakfast burrito, which can easily be two meals. I wasn't impressed by the coffee in the cafe but I'm a bit of a coffee snob. read more
