I go to church to learn about the teachings in the Bible and not to be "taught" on how I should feel about immigration.

I have been coming to Holy Wisdom for personal retreats for almost ten years. The stewards of this land, guest accommodations, and sacred space is a community of ecumenical Benedictine sisters. They are generous hosts, and I highly recommend taking lunch or dinner with them at least once during your stay. Of course in Covid-19 pandemic, meal time conversations are not happening. Here's the scoop w Covid-19: this is a great place to safely get away to. Everything is very clean. The wifi in the guesthouse is strong. Your room costs include a continental breakfast delivered to your room. (Its not fancy, but gets the job done!) If you eat in dining room you will be seated at a table by yourself looking at the woods with food brought to you by the chef. Lunch and dinner are an additional cost. Portions are generous and food is solid home cooking. The sisters have a large garden and many dishes include produce grown right here. There is unlimited coffee and tea on tap in the dining room. Each guestroom has its own bathroom with shower. There are many meeting rooms and lounges in which to relax and read. And, there are miles of mowed trails for walking and running. Great bird and wildlife watching. Many benches on which to sit in contemplation. It's quiet here. In a good way. And personally, I've always thought the hermitages were pretty romantic. Not fancy, but a quiet out of the way place to curl up with your honey at a reasonable price. Only 2 hours from the western suburbs of Chicago. I know I'll be back! How about you?

I have been here several times for rehearsals for plays I was working on. We used two different spaces for our two plays. The downstairs room is the cafeteria, with tile floors and many tables and chairs. The room on the main floor is a choir room with carpet and chairs. We could not have been happier.

The staff were available but not visible. After the funeral they had burial in their cemetery behind the church and a luncheon in the building next to the church. Very convenient arrangement.

I use this chapel as a space to study and sometimes pray, and it really is a fantastic space for…read morethose activities. It's open to all students, and it is a great location with gorgeous stained glass. It even has some tables on the second floor rooftop that I look forward to using when the weather is nice! In between studying, this chapel has coffee, a pool table, and a laundry room for students to use. The sanctuary is also available for students to use the piano or pray. I can't speak to the religious services here, since I have not attend and do not identify with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.
