Beautiful school inside and out. Sooo much memories in this school!
I met some of the greatest friends here whom I am still friends with to this day. I met my childhood best friends here too, and it's so funny that not too long ago, one of my best friends said "Jessica, you've been living in the same house since elementary!" and my other best friend says, "Girl, we all live in the same houses we did since elementary." Lol, funny 'cause we all live close to Hillcrest and this was on neighborhood elementary school.
At this school, I played endless hopscotch. I'd go to school super early before the bell rung to play hopscotch with friends.
In third grade, my teacher was really fun. She always let us do puzzles and play games after we finished our work. It was the first time I learned how to play uno. She even took us to downtown for a fieldtrip. I'm not sure but I think we went to Alcatraz too.
One time, my class decides to run around the school. While running around the school, my best friend accidentally trips me and a big chunk of my waste was gone.. well skin that is.
Halloween was always fun because there would be parades and they would give out free pumpkins. When you're in kindergarten, a fifth grader walks around with you at the carnival they have in the gymnasium, and vice versa if you're a fifth grader.
I played "house" a lot with my friends and we even played spice girls. Lol.
The afterschool program was fun, my brother and I were put into it because no one was able to pick us up after school anymore though my dad always dropped us off to school. During the afterschool programs, they taught us kapuera? Not sure how it's spelled but that was fun.
I remember those student of the month stars that would reside in front of the main office, it was awesome whenever I got to see my name there.
In fifth grade, they did this thing on Fridays where you'd rotate classes/teachers which was fun that you didn't have to stick with your usual teacher and each class does different activities.
My fifth grade class went on a fieldtrip to downtown, lol back when FAO Shwartz (sp?) used to exist in downtown and when the three story building Sanrio existed too. So much fun!
In the auditorium, I performed Christmas songs with the rest of my class in our Santa hats, red skirts and white shirts. During rehearsal, we performed in front of other classes which was the day before the performance for parents, that day.. I fell down the stairs, lol! And everyone saw my friends panties. It was so long ago but very memorable. My teacher did the order by shortest to tallest, I was amongst the shorties. Though my two friends were shorter than me, they didn't know how to skip so I was the first day of Christmas for 12 days of Christmas, lol.
While our school had popcorn days (Fridays) and Yolanda sold video games. Someone stole a Pokemon game and had put it in my backpack! When I saw it, I cried. I didn't steal it. The boy that sat in front of me put it in my backpack during lunch.
I did election poll working here before while I was in high school in their tiny auditorium which was huge back then. I also did volunteer work for their after school program back when I was in middle school because we had to do it in order to graduate middle school, lol and I decided to volunteer at my elementary school.
There's so much more to say but not even this review can express how amazing this school is. read more
