I honestly hate giving small businesses bad reviews but this place is just awful in service. Their BEC (bacon egg & cheese) generally is really good which was why I kept coming back but then I notice they started to mess up my orders and charge me different prices every time. 1. I always ask for "bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel with mayo and ketchup". Every time I get food from them regardless if I or someone else order, it ends up messed up to the point where I get pissed off considering their food isn't exactly low deli prices nor are the prices competitive. For example, multiple times, they gave the sandwiches without condiments, they added sausage when this was never requested (and I hate sausage), they gave the incorrect bagel or they charged me different prices. I dealt with that and never gave them a hard time about it. I kept giving them chances but what got me mad the most from my last order was when they gave me a BEC; half the sandwich had almost no egg on it, it had sausage in one of them again, AND they used CHEDDAR CHEESE! I know someone is going to say "why didn't you specify?" but this was the first time in my life that someone makes a BEC with cheddar cheese instead of American Cheese. Ina addition to that, the whole sandwich tasted stale and awful but it didn't stop there - me and one other person who ate the sandwiches (partially) felt sick that day and half the day after. 2. They charge more for mediocre coffee than Starbucks charges which is actually wild to me. I paid close to $5 once, then when I went back again other times, I got other prices between $3~4 for the same size. It's like they don't know the prices for their own stuff or they're drastically adjusting prices randomly. 3. A lot of the workers are kind of unpleasant but not rude. They mumble and again, aren't confident about what the prices of their food costs when asked. Not only were they charging different prices for iced coffee, but they did the same with the BEC sandwich. Overall, the sandwich is great when done properly, but they really need to work on listening and general customer service. After the last bad experience (amongst many others in the past), I've decided to no longer patron this business. read more

I placed an order on GrubHub this morning and part of the order included a corn muffin. Thank God I checked the bottom of the muffin before I decided to eat it because the corn muffin had mold on it. LOVED my prior experiences with Highway Bagels. Which is why my girlfriend and I walk 30minutes just to grab bagels and sandwiches here. Today was a different story. There was a line to order as per usual which is never an issue. When it came to my turn, I said "lox with the works on a everything bagel" and the guy mumbled something incoherent and I just said no and waited until I paid. It wasn't until I was being rung up the guy said "lox bagel no cream cheese"....excuse me? Shouldn't the lox bagel have cream cheese already on it? The cashier rudely said "you have to ask for the cream cheese" I have to ASK for cream cheese to be put on when said I wanted lox with the works? The cashier didn't even try to attempt to solve the problem, he continued to ring me up for this unfinished lox bagel and just said my total was $11. I said no thanks just walked out because the cashier and the line worker is a disgrace to such a great shop. You can even google "lox bagel" and it'll include cream cheese by default. See below. Replying to Alberto: Thank you for replying to my concern. A few things: First, I understand the struggles of Covid and having to wear a mask so speech can be harder to understand when taking orders. Second, "the works" is not a term understood by the restaurant, and I can accept that. Except I have ordered there saying the same thing without issue. And if it's not a term understood, then why wasn't it asked for me to clarify? Last, if there were a miscommunication, regardless of who's fault it was from the beginning, why didn't the cashier attempt to amend the situation by offering the cheese cream to be added on as opposed to telling me matter-of-factly that needed to be said to be added and then telling me what my total is as if I' being rushed out of the restaurant. I understand you wish to defend your employees. But I hope I have made a few valid talking points to have a mindful discussion with them on providing a better service experience to compliment the wonderful food you do serve. read more

This is what I got from your establishment for $6.75 Cream cheese and 3 slices of turkey on a toast. I went back, showed the guy and asked if he might have overcharged me, he saw nothing wrong with it and did nothing. For $6.75 I was left hungry. Typically for that price you could get a nice big sandwich that will get you full and possibly half left over for later at just about any local Deli. It's with regret that I need to update my review for this place, it is not the same it used to be years ago and service is steadily declining. If you are going to offer/advertise a service you should do it right. My experience with curbside delivery today was simply unacceptable. I first attempted to call in my order at 7:25, I was placed on hold and waited for 5 minutes before hanging up because I had to leave. The entire time there were maybe 2-3 other customers in the store. I came back and tried again around 8. My first call was placed on hold then 2 minutes later I got hung up on. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that it was an accident but I distinctly heard the line open then click. I called back again and after waiting another 2 minutes on hold* the girl on the line finally took my order... This girls voice seethed with annoyance and apathy, it really sounded like I was bothering her by calling in an order. I finally placed my order which consisted of 3 items of food and 2 drinks. She told be it would be out in 8-10 minutes. At this time I saw two other customers in line... Now I get it, they need to service customers that are inside and they need to make the food. I can appreciate that sometimes estimates are wrong and between my order and the orders of others I might need to wait an extra minute or two. So I waited 15 minutes before calling back to check on the order. Meanwhile a few people have come and gone from the store with their orders. The same girl picks up and says they need 2 more minutes. I explained I had someone waiting for me and to just bring out what was ready. 6 minutes later, a large line has now formed inside and I call again, this time someone else answers. They asked what my order was and when I described it he had no clue what I was talking about. I asked if they even put my food together yet and he said he'll look into it. I explain I was out of time and that I was leaving after the next traffic light change. The food still didn't come out 3 minutes later, I had no choice but to go I wasted 25 minutes waiting for food and almost lost a client. This was infuriating and unacceptable. To the Manager and/or owner; listen I get that the place can get busy, especially at morning rush, but this is just wrong. If you are going to offer Curbside delivery then hire a dedicated gopher during the rush hours to help with curbside orders. Further more my order should not be back-burnered because I'm waiting in my car. It should be made in the order it was received. I get I might have to wait an extra minute or two before someone can run the order out but more then that is wrong. *this is a major issue with this place, why pick up the phone at all if you are gonna just put it on hold?! Just take the order!* I can't recommend this place anymore, it used to be a neighborhood staple, but not anymore. read more

This place is great for a quick bite. They have a nice selection of bagels, panini's fresh pastries and other treats you may want and think of at your local bagel shop. Everything is fresh and they even have a small lunch counter and a few tables to sit and eat if you'd like. I ordered a chicken pesto panini from this place and the second I pick it up and look in the bag I knew this panini was going to make me sick. It looked old and oily like it was popped in the microwave. I take a bite and no joke it tasted like wet cardboard. After swallowing the retched food the back of my throat was tingling and immediately I threw up. I called to tell one of the employees acting as if nothing was wrong with it and would even consider a refund or a replacement sandwich. I eat here out of convenience but more often than not my order is wrong. I order a very simple sandwich. I've learned to check it before I leave the store because when I've pointed it out the next time I'm in the store they just shrug. No interest in making it right. I always got bagels here all the time, I love it because the guys were friendly and the they'd fix anything that was wrong. But today's my last day getting food from them before work. We had catered an office party for 50 people. Breakfast and Lunch. HIGHWAY BAGELS provided all the food and we got more than we expected. Food was great.
