They've got a great mix across the board, stocking large quantities of the big box beers and wine, with a big enough selection of interesting beer wine and liquor to keep it, well, interesting. While the main store in Crowfoot is a liquor super centre, this location is a little more like a general store. The selection is much smaller but they still do an impressive job at keeping the right products on hand so you can stop here for something craft or something common. The staff are friendly, mature and knowledgeable enough about their products to set them apart from any other liquor stores on 14th Street. While not high enough on the awesome scale to be one of Calgary's great destination liquor locations, this Crowfoot Liquor isn't trying to be. It's your best bet if you live in the area and a great place to pick up an impressive bottle of vino on you way to a party. See you soon!

They do have a great selection of wines for a small place though! They have one of the best chilled white wine selections I have seen! I was able to find a couple bottles of wine, at very reasonable prices. I asked the woman working, who was very nice, about the red I had picked, she hadn't tried it but had heard it was good. Which she could have said for anything. The wine turned out to be great! I like this location of Liquor Barn, even though it is small, it is a nice place to pick up a bottle of wine.

It looks a bit uninviting from the outside as it's on a lower level of the building, and it's slightly hidden. To get there from the sidewalk you need to walk down some steps. The pluses: it's clean and well-lit, they stock a decent range of wine, I've been able to go there on days that I thought they would be closed like public holidays, they have a small selection of decent craft beer, and the usual spirits. I also always seem to be served by the same guy so either he lives there or he pulls all the shifts at work that I do. The minuses: It's only a small place, so the range isn't the same as other bottle shops in the area, and they don't carry enough stouts for my liking! I also haven't tried asking for recommendations very often but they don't seem to have the same expertise you might get in other bottle shops.

I checked out the chilled room with all the beer and couldn't believe the selection! They were well stocked with all the usual brands, but had a thorough selection of international beers too! I've never seen so much beer! As I walked though the isles I noticed that they had some good sales on liquor, some were $5-7 off! On my search for a nice red wine I walked along the wine section, taking note of the featured selections. They carried the common wines from the US and Canada but also had a great selection of Italian and French wines. They even had a decent selection of Chilean wines, most of them were ones I had never come across. I chose one that was on feature, then was asked by a guy if I was finding everything okay. I asked him about the wine I had selected, if it was quite dry. He said it was and asked what I was looking for in a wine. I told him and in no hesitation he pointed out a different selection. So I traded my choice for his recommendation. The prices for wines are very decent, most of them ranging from $10-18. There is also a great premium wine selection ranging from $29 and up. I paid $15 for my wine and it was perfect! The selection and stock at Highlander are excellent! Their website is even worth checking out! I will definitely return to Highlander if I am looking for a new wine, or beer, to try!

The girl at the counter greeted me right away and asked is I needed any help. I told her I was looking for a nice red wine. She suggested one that I knew wasn't what I was looking for, so I browsed around a bit. there is a excellent selection of popular wines. There were only a small shelf of Chilean and Argentinian wines, my favorites. The prices were all very affordable, they even had some great sales, $5 or $3 off! I asked the girl if she had tried one of the wines I had selected, she said yes and that it was a very nice choice. Their selection of liquors is pretty basic, but the prices were good. They have a huge cooler of beers. They also hold wine tastings throughout the year! Both the wines I got were delicious and priced well. I really liked Spirits of Edgemont and will definitely return! I'm on their customer care program, but I have absolutely no idea what the hell it gets me or if there's any tangible benefit to being on it. Still, they make sure to ask me every time. They've got my phone number AND my e-mail, but I don't think I've heard from them other than once when they invited me to a wine tasting by e-mail. I didn't go. Maybe I should have. Anyways, I've stopped by this little place a few times when I was feelin' a hankering for some quality hooch. For such a little place their selection is actually not too bad. It's no Co-op liquor, but in a pinch it'll do. I love that they stock Mississippi Muds here (a half porter half pilsner beverage that will put hair on your chest and comes in a hilarious moonshine bottle). Service has ranged from eerily cheerful young women on Saturday nights at 11:00 to somewhat oddball dudes, but most everyone is pretty nice. I'd love to give this more stars but at the end of the day it's a pretty average community liquor store. If you need booze, whip on over - but if you've got a bit of time, head to the Co-op nearby for a bit of a broader beer selection.
