This place was great! What a pleasant surprise. Apparently it's Scottish, but the food was actually quite international and delicious. It's not very often one restaurant can do foods from so many different backgrounds well.
The baked Camembert salad and calamari with tartar sauce were the absolute best. The Camembert in the salad paired really nicely with the sweet fruity dressing, and the crunch on the baked cheese gave it a really great contrast of textures. The calamari was in pieces sort of like chicken nuggets, not rings or whole squid, which I'm not used to, but it might be my favorite presentation now. It was cooked just right and there wasn't a hint of rubberiness. The breaded skin was crunchy and the tartar sauce was just right.
The pear salad was great too. The garlic bread is simple and delicious. I'm told the dal palak was excellent. It was too spicy for me to appreciate, but I can attest the eggplant chutney it came with was sublime. My friends loved the nasi goreng as well, and it was quite comforting.
The sticky date pudding was not the best I've ever had but it was quite good. The only thing that wasn't excellent was the panna cotta.
I'd definitely go again, and you should too. read more
