Yesterday was my grandfather's mass service. My mom choose this location as it is her home church…read more Yes, I grew up Catholic. I have never been to this church until yesterday. I have not attended church in some time actually. Faith is personal to me. It is likely personal to everyone. I felt at peace walking into this church. It did not feel large as many do. It gave the look of tradition. Parking is plentiful and there are 4 doors including an ADA accessible door. There are stairs but there is also an elevator, again ADA accessible. I liked the lobby area and there is an area off to the right and stairs going down as well. The chapel is up the stairs. They have a water fountain feature in green marble when you walk in. It is very interesting. There is a lot of seating with the traditional areas of bench kneelers and bibles in the backsides of the benches. I like how the layout is positioned. There is a large organ piano in the back upper level. Many glass paintings and statues throughout the church. I thought that the wood alters were well done. They feel like something God/Jesus would prefer over something gaudy. Jesus was a carpenter after all. My favorite is the tile work as you approach the alter. It is a picture of the Last Supper. The Priest, Father Tomasz, explained that there was an incident where some hot coals fell on the carpeted flooring. They decided to fix it with the tile picture. I thought it was very nicely done. He also mentioned that they are going to be renovating/updating soon. I hope it does not lose its traditional look. I did not take a picture as I personal feel it wasn't tactful. I was there for a personal reason. It is my understanding that taking pictures in church is frowned upon and shouldn't be done. That makes sense to me. This church is over 100 years old. I think Father Tomasz had said late 1800's but was made official early 1900's.
