We found this place while staying at a nearby campground, it was an easy choice after reading a number of the reviews. We arrived during a torrential rainstorm, the parking is small but there is additional parking across the side street most of the parking spaces close to the restaurant were inundated with standing water (ankle deep) like a lot of the property in the Keys it floods rather easily and not water you want to walk through. Once inside it was so inviting, we were seated immediately and greeted by a number of the staff. It was clear that this is a place where the locals frequent which I love, definitely a great sign. Although our server arrived after a few minutes it's oblivious the entire staff does whatever is required to ensure their guest are happy. We started lunch with a cup of lobster bisque, it was different from any I've eaten before but delicious and I highly recommend it (looked like a great clam chowder but filled with lobster). We both ordered grouper sandwiches one blackened and one fried there's a ($3.00) up charge over the mahi mahi which is their default fish sandwich and so worth it - unfortunately both sandwiches arrived blackened which was caught by a server before the second one touched the table and she assured me they would corrected it in short order and were successful in doing that. Both grouper sandwiches were delicious, the bread was a little heavy for my liking so I dug most of it out to get thinned down so it wouldn't overpower this wonderful fish, it's served with lettuce, tomato and red onion with a side of tartar sauce and a pickle spear - I also got a side of slaw it was just okay being it was the mayonnaise version. The prices are reasonable even with the up charge for premium fish and the service was outstanding, the kitchen blooper was not a deal breaker but the flooding would keep me away if it's raining... read more

This place has always been known for good food and good portions and after 20 years of me going there, I'm shocked that they would even serve this and charge $10 for it. We went to High Tide for dinner, on our second day vacationing in Florida. High Tide Restaurant seems like a typical Ma and Pop café, with extra fish & seafood. It's a cozy place, with wonderful staff, and everything on the menu is made with fresh ingredients. We were seated immediately and the tables were actually clean! High Tide is a little misleading, though. For one, they don't list the prices for their menu items online. The breading for their Jalapeno chicken had no spice whatsoever, and the chicken itself was thin and slimy! YUCK! Mom liked their lobster bisque, but it made her sick all night long! Did a quick Yelp search and decided to stop here on our way to Miami from Key West. Little diner right off of the overseas highway. The place was clean and everyone was so nice! Man, the customer service everywhere should be this good! We were able to sit wherever we wanted and the servers came by frequently to check on us. Hubby ordered the breakfast burrito with home fries and onions. He loved it! Huge portion and it tasted wonderful. I got the lobster Benedict. Nice big chunks of lobster with perfectly cooked eggs and a delicious hollandaise. I got the hashbrown casserole with mine and it was cheesy and delicious. Wow! This place is exceptional! We were so tired from sitting in traffic and this was just the ticket for making it worth it! The servers were exceptionally friendly and super helpful! This little roadside restaurant is a gem. The menu offers up a variety of creative dishes and the service was personal and friendly. We ordered the "gas-which" - odd name but delicious. It was a lobster patty topped with a special sauce and fresh veg. We also ordered the key lime pasta which was really well done with perfectly cooked seafood and a sauce highlighted with lime and butter. The vibe is super casual and our server was awesome - she gave me a local paper to read while waiting and pointed me to the "funny pages". Everything was so good. I got the biscuits and gravy and it was delightful. I definitely recommend. The only thing is the hash browns could have been a little more crispy but i didn't mind much. We got calamari and that was excellent, it was breaded and perfectly crispy so you need to get it. Our waitress was so sweet and the service was good too. read more

I am so glad I had.this unassuming restaurant bookmarked! We stopped in for a late lunch after snorkeling. Ordered the key lime sandwich (with grouper) and the Port au Prince sandwich (with mahi). Both were excellent! The mango chutney for the P.auP. sandwich was perfect. They will sub out fries for any other side. We both chose onion rings...some of the best we have ever had! We got dessert too. Hub had key lime pie (good!), I had key lime cheesecake. Ermahgerd! So incredible (see photo)!! I am going to dream about that cheesecake, until the next time we visit Key Largo! We had breakfast and ordered the following: Country fried steak Two eggs over corn beef hash Blueberry pancakes (recommended by our server, Alexis) Cowboy skillet Fish (fried mahi) & Grits Also ordered home made biscuits. First off, the service from walking in, to being seated, to getting drinks, ordering and being server the employees all work flawlessly with each other. They all assist each others throughout the guest stay!! Everyone is attentive and efficient. The owner and chefs should be extremely proud of their team - stellar and Michelin star worthy!!!! The food is next: The homemade biscuits are "to die for" don't miss out, they're crumbly and they quickly throw them onto the griddle. Next they have butter and pure honey to complete that "Heaven in your mouth " experience. Okay we made past the biscuits and the server recommended pancakes and we went for blueberry. Probably the best I have had to go along with the homemade biscuits. Also, best corned beef hash with over easy eggs cooked to perfection. Now let's talk about the hash brown casserole. OMG don't leave here without trying!! The sausage gravy and biscuits would make your Momma HAPPY!! FRESH Mahi Mahi with the grits ( I'm sure came from the docks that morning or night before) were excellent. The country fried steak was perfection. Seasoned perfectly as well as being cooked just as ordered. Don't pass up the SWEET Tea or UNSWEETENED Tea IT's HOMEMADE!!! Finally on the recommendation of our server the KEY LIME Pie is the best in the KEYS according to her significant other. We dined here multiple times during our recent stay. All the staff were super friendly and attentive. They have an extensive breakfast menu. We enjoyed the pancakes, skillet breakfast, and omelette. The mimosas were so good with just that right splash of orange juice. For dinner we enjoyed the broiled seafood platter. There was so much food and all of it was fresh and tasty. The portion was so large we were lucky to have shared the entree. To complete our dinner we had the fabulous homemade key lime pie. We shared the Tuna Sesame Seared appetizer which was delicious and plenty for two people; not to mention the wasabi was of high quality and hot! Be sure to have your water ready. My wife enjoyed her Fish Mediterranean which came with the assurance of being gluten free. I had the stuffed fish (chose the Mahi Mahi from among three options offered), and it was perfectly baked. We each opted for a loaded baked potato as one of our two included sides; both were served slightly hard for our liking (we normally prefer a softer, creamier potato), but it was still quite good with enough butter. When traveling through Key Largo, put High Tide restaurant on your list for a delicious dinner or any meal. Having been here twice now, I can definitively say I am a fan of High Tide! I first came here for breakfast back in May, and just came here for dinner this past weekend. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming here. They have lots of options for breakfast including healthier options which I appreciated. Get the hash brown casserole! The seasoning is beyond good. This past weekend we came here for dinner since we weren't that hungry but still wanted to eat something. I got a cup of chili and the potato skins. The chili was full of flavor and meat! It was very filling despite it being only one cup. The potato skins were awesome too. Full of bacon and cheese. Bonus, get the freshly baked muffins!
