I was told by the word of the tattoo artist I scheduled with (and gave a $100+ deposit to) that I…read morewould receive a mock-up of the idea I gave him prior to our appointment date set in approx. three weeks from consultation. They had my email and my Instagram to get it a mock up to. I received nothing, and when I got a call confirming my appointment, I brought this up. Still, I received nothing. I did not attend the appointment because I had not received what was promised. I explained this to the shop owner over the phone, and I quote "how old are you? You should know that it is your responsibility to show up for an appointment. This is the most bogus thing I have ever heard. It is not in our policy to provide a mock up, and because you are not here for your appointment, we would normally take your deposit and you would provide a new one. However, I will hold your deposit and you can reschedule if you would like." She hung up on me after I declined. I don't know about you, but I personally would not risk going to a tattoo shop after that interaction. I have been told in the past not to go to Jacksonville tattoo shops because they take advantage of Marines, and I believe this rings true. I've gotten tattoos in California, Arizona and Wilmington, and not one shop has required a deposit to make an appointment. However, two shops in Jacksonville I've been to (ATS and Forbidden) have required this. I've paid both and been tattoo'd by neither because I've been stunned by their treatment of clients and expectations both.

I just got my nose pierced at Unique Ink and they did an excellent job. My piercer (never got her…read morename but she had dreads) was friendly, professional, and very quick. She was thorough with aftercare instructions and made the experience enjoyable. Their shop is very clean and well kept with a private room for piercings. The prep and piercing took no more than five minutes. It is healing up wonderfully. This shop has been around for about 10 years which says a lot about them. If you're looking for a good piercer, go to Unique Ink! Note: if paying with card, there is a surcharge but this is common for tattoo shops. Cash is recommended.

Each tattoo artist has their own niche and they'd be the first to tell you if they thought what you wanted done would be better suited with another artist in the shop. They are all very passionate about what they do. I usually book with Stephen and it's great because often my tattoo comes with a side of knowledge and always humor.Bethany has also tattooed a beautiful book themed piece for me and while doing so we talked books. There were two times I went back for a touch up (very very minor) and more so because I wanted to add this or that to the original design. I was nervous because I wasn't sure how that would be received. That was a ridiculous notion on my part because as fun as they are, they are equally as professional. I cannot recommend this shop enough, 5 pieces and counting. I included the day they were done and a few years later.

I'll start this review by saying I'm not good with pain AT ALL. I was completely apprehensive about…read moregetting a tattoo and inflicting pain upon myself. Unfortunately I wasn't the brightest in my 20's and got a man's name on my rib cage of all places. I shopped around at few tattoo shops and my last stop was Stout's House of Pain. Just based upon vibes alone I already trusted ED with what I had in mind. To my disbelief it actually became a fun and easy going experience. The man is awesome, personable, and somehow got me to laugh when I wasn't in the mood, lol. His work is amazing and he delivered well above any expectations I had before choosing him as my artist. If you need any work done, he is your man. The place is also extremely clean and they have a really friendly staff. 5/5 this is the place to go.

So I was going to get a tattoo done by Lisa D Tattoo at 111 Western Blvd here in Jacksonville. She…read morestarted sending me DMs after seeing a comment I posted under a friend's post about tattoos. Everything seemed cool at first, I sent her the pics of the tatts I wanted and scheduled the appointment for this Thursday. She tells me deposit is $100 via messenger. I told her I could pay her the next day (it was late Saturday night) on Sunday once I was off work at 6pm. She tells me she only accepts Chime payments which seemed weird claiming she doesn't handle cash or any other form payment. After talking to my husband it seemed sketchy I've never had an artist tell me they only deal with CHIME. I messaged her back and told her to cancel the appointment (this was on Sunday) and decided to just go to someone who was referred by a friend. I deleted the conversation and went on my day. She starts messaging the next day NOW OFFERING TO ACCEPT CASHAPP and sends me a cashapp tag that didnt seem to match her name. I still didn't respond because its giving weird and sketchy. She then offers to take $20 off...big deal the tatts weren't expensive. So because I would no longer respond to her anymore she decided that she would send me this message. If your that upset because I decided to not let you tattoo me TOO BAD. All you did is prove how unprofessional you are. Watch out and be careful doing business with this one.
