I'm not sure how much the bill was but it had to be $1000, and the service just wasn't there. I mean you're going to get a huge tip with a party that big, but like other places you just can't get anybody to care. We had a bunch of different appetizers they were all delicious, the tomahawk chop was incredible. All the desserts were delicious.

We played tee position three and at 6533 yards it plays pretty long. The course layout was very pretty and quite fair. There was some room to miss but spraying will be punished. Avalon Lakes was spectacular! One of the prettiest layouts I've played. It plays about 100 yards shorter and is manageable for a 13 handicapper. Every aspect of this course was outstanding! As far as the other one star reviews go, I didn't see one fivesome anywhere and the need to criticize this course design seems almost like someone with a hidden agenda or axe to grind with Pete Dye. We booked a package deal so I had to look up how much it would cost if you just wanted to play Avalon. On Golfnow it was $115. I'm not sure where you're going to play anywhere in this region that is this beautiful and well manicured for substantially less money. Go play some other Pete Dye courses and see what you pay. I've played many courses in Myrtle Beach that weren't nearly as nice as this so I don't get that reference either... Not to mention it's 700 miles away... Anyhow, no one I played with or talked to about this course had anything but rave reviews for it. The amenities if you're a guest are endless and the staff simply couldn't have been nicer. The rooms were recently beautifully remodeled and were spotless. The entire resort was so clean. It's a great place for families especially in the summer with all that they offer. We had a wonderful weekend of golf and were treated like we were at a Ritz Carlton for a third of the price!

There are three different halls of which we were in the "Red Room". Although they recently did an entire make over and renovation, it still had the old mafioso feel that is or at least was the mystique of the Mahoning Valley. It was a ball room style hall with a large dance floor, good size bar and plenty of seating for the 250 or so guests. The decor was beautiful and was exactly what my sister wanted. The food. I must say the food was pretty darn good. It was a buffet style set up that included salad, fresh bread and rolls, pasta and meatballs, baked chicken, marinated roast beef with mushrooms, butter potatoes and garlic and almond green beans. I had a little of everything and it was all very tasty. Much better than the last time I was here of which was several years ago. I heard that new owners took over which could be the reason for the better food and building face lift. A great choice in the area for a wedding reception, graduation party or banquet. yes, they have an 18 hole golf course of which I can't review at this time as I haven't played in approx. 5 years.

I live in California and was in Ohio to DJ the wedding reception of my cousin, who lives in Canfield. Prior to the event I didn't have any contact with the Country Club, so I had no idea what to expect. Upon my arrival, the staff was very friendly, led me to where I was to setup and offered me the password to their wifi and showed me the best place to plug in. Once I was setup, a server brought me a pitcher of water and a couple glasses. Now you may be thinking - this is standard stuff right? Well, not really. And especially not how most places treat a VENDOR. In my experience, when places roll out the red carpet for the vendors, they really know how to treat people.

Not one of our party of 20 golfers dissented on this opinion. I appreciate the course is a family run affair, but frankly, the condition of the course was unacceptable. Sand traps hard packed with excessive weeds and no rakes. The greens were among the most poorly maintained I've ever seen. It was hard scrabble and poor course management. Each tee box had only one marker for the hole, and the layout of the course made it tough for anyone unfamiliar with the layout to navigate from hole to hole. Daly out confusing. Golfers should be aware of the numerous electrical towers and power lines that criss-cross the course. While this is not under control of the course, but it is another strike against the already difficult playing conditions. When we walked in at the start of the day for our tee time, the course seemed unprepared for us. Pin markers were not ready, and the poor young lady behind the counter in the snack bar was in full blown panic mode trying serve us , get things ready for golfers, and answering the phone. The final strike was the course had no liquor license, so they couldn't sell beer or drinks. That blew our minds. There are plenty of excellent course nearby to play just over the border in PA. Avoid this one.
