The Red Pines: Wow. What a great place to crash after a 1500 mile trip from New Hampshire. Nicely taken care of Condos, sort of a log cabinish exterior. Inside was very clean, nicely finished. Very quiet sleeping. Our Hostess Debby and her Husband Al were fantastic, and very friendly. We arrived last minuteish, and Debby was able to juggle rooms to find us a unit (#5) that would accept pets. Our English Bulldog Lara was extremely happy to chill out here. For those traveling with a family pet this is a great place. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Phillips, Winter, Wisconsin area. We would definitely stop here again. Dan Durham, NH

Horrible lighting for shaving or putting on makeup and no extra mirrors for styling hair. The only ice is on the 1st floor, smaller then normal pillows on the bed, the tub didn't drain, the hotel needs a major upgrade, can anyone say 1970??? Chairs in the room were literally falling apart, I grabbed one to move it and the arm came right off and they rock because the screws are so loose. Minimal tv channels to watch (about 20) and 4 of them are cartoon and public tv. The paint job on the walls was horrible seeing every single roller line, the air is very noisy and never did take the dampy feeling out of the room and there was no paper or pen in the room to jot anything down. The tv was on a table that was so low you couldn't see it once laying in bed and it shuts off automatically after a few hours, so if your watching a show you have to turn it back on to finish watching it. The shower head was extremely dirty and could have used CLR cleaning. Made you feel as though you were washing with dirty water. It's definitely not worth the price you pay for the room....!! To be fair the bed was ok, it was nice to have a fridg in the room, the hair dryer worked well and it seemed the carpet was newer then the furnishings. Honestly though, save your money and try another place.

The snow that remained after the plowing was at least 4" deep. Really great for shoes. Door knob on our room was broken. Prayed everytime we opened it that that it would indeed open. Heater in the room blasted air continuously. First cold then extremely hot. Right into your face when you are sleeping. Had to cover the entire thing with one of the 3 towels you were given. 2 outlets in the room were available to us. The others had 3 ways already in them. Worse coffee in the world. Cold old and disgusting. Breakfast was a joke. Gross coffee, waffles, and cold cereal and 3! Yes only 3 hard boiled eggs. Great for a well balanced diet. Best of all. When I asked if I could get a late check-out (we are top level rewards members) I had to beg for an additional hour. Even though there were only ourselves and 2! Other people staying in the hotel. And all this for the low price of $100/night. We have stayed in 4 star hotels for that price. But to have the amenities that we had for that price is just absurd.

I asked the lady at the desk why my bill was higher than the price we were quoted she said the owner increase the price $10 each night over the weekend. I said that is not right or the amount I was quoted I was not paying the extra 20 some dollars. She removed it from my bill. She did charge my daughter-in-law the $10 extra a night. I spoke with the owner after his mother who works at the hotel told me I needed to get my facts straight about the prices before I talk to her. Which my facts were straight she was overcharged $22. The owner proceeded to tell me he was not refunding the money that his mother was not correct it was for tax. I said the price we were quoted was $105 with tax he flat out said I'm not refunding the money. He also was very rude to me I told him that we were going to another motel from now on in the future and he hung up the phone on me. I will never be coming back to this hotel which had our business for years. And yes it does need to be updated paint is all over cracks I don't believe that they clean sometimes the room is dirty. If you're looking for a mediocre Hotel this is it otherwise at this time Super 8 down the road is the same price because the timber in increase their prices to meet the same price as the Super 8 we will be going to the Super

So comfortable, slept 8.w.2 bathrooms and an amazing view! Our next visit was in Winter. Absolutely Beautiful. My son had never seen snow. This was a winter wonderland. A great sledding hill right outside the Lodge. cozy Our last visit to Ruffed Grouse Lodge was this past summer. We fully enjoyed the New House on the River. Decorated w an Asian Flare, Granite Counters,.Heated Floors and Top of the Line Appliances. We took a boat ride down the River. So much nature..it was like being in a movie. After, we roasted Hot Dogs over the fire pit. so Cool. I love Wisconsin. This place is very popular for hunting Grouse...I am not a Hunter, just a huge Fan!

Luxurious linens and towels. Everything you need in the cute kitchen! Walk in shower. The soaps were very nice!! Bedroom has a view of the lake. We awoke every morning to sun on the water! And spent quite days on a bench on the pier. Reading or just looking at the water from our porch. We had one day of rain, I read my book and hubby watched the World Cup on Dish in the living room. The larger lodge comes with a boat to use on the lake. Brian and Leeann were very kind and helpful. The downtown area has many cute shops and dining options. We will be back!!

A right wing political statement is what you are greeted to when you drive up…read more I don't care what your views are regarding politics, however I don't think that it is in the best interest of your business to post such strong political views at your business entrance regardless of which party you support It was very sad and disheartening to see the American Flag torn and ripped up with a large sign featuring the Democratic President, Former Speaker of the House and Senate majority leader pointing to the flag and the poster stating "Look up, I did that". The implication is that the democrats have trashed America and trampled on our Flag. It's sad that this business owner, and the patrons that like this sign are out of touch with reality. It wasn't the democratic president that encouraged people to storm the capitol. It was Trump supporters that used the American Flag to beat cops while trying to overthrow democracy; this is fact and available to anyone to verify. The bar is a little dark but nicely laid out. The beer was cold and the price was reasonable. The lady behind the bar was pleasant and helpful. The man behind the bar when we walked in said "Are you lost?" in a unfriendly tone. Not the kind of welcome that would be conducive to encouraging people to spend money in the establishment. The Trump 2024 hats and other political paraphernalia supporting Trump is a big turnoff. Again, I don't care who you support, but it will alienate half the population- not a good business model. We stayed for one beer and left. The place had awesome potential, however it was not a welcoming experience so the four of us bounced. I would not recommend this place. However if you are devoid of reality and love to trash democracy, this is your place.

This motel charges city prices in a small town. Old and dated. Did not serve breakfast and no…read morecoffee pots in room. There was an empty pot on the desk but at 8 am there was no one at the desk so no one to ask to make a pot. It was clean however.
