Si Lewis of Hidden Connections is a wizard when it comes to quick technical connection and set-up. We recently added a BOSE speaker to our television components. Si had it hooked up in 9 minutes! (For the sake of comparison, it took friends of ours with the same equipment an entire day -- including many calls to technical support -- to achieve what Si managed almost instantly.) We used Si's services a few years ago when we first purchased a flat screen tv and wanted our tv components hooked up. He built a custom cabinet to house everything at exactly the height we wanted. Just had Si Louis, of Hidden Connections come by and mount a Pioneer Elite 42" TV, and a Polk Audio in-wall center channel. He was extremely professional but friendly. He came with everything he needed to do the job. I have crazy spacing of studs on the wall where the TV is mounted, so this was not a straight forward job. The job was done in about 3 hrs. Everything looks great, and it was done at a reasonable price. Best of all he made sure to use a drop cloth and cleaned up when he was done. We recently moved to a new home that had been previously prewired for multiple speakers. We had a bit of a complicated job. We already had a TV mounted and some cables fished through the wall but purchased a new set and had a vision of a cleaner look that involved shifting the cable runs and generally updating a bunch of of work that had previously been done. Si was super helpful in that he came out and actually looked at my specific job (many other places just have a menu of services, none of which my job easily fell into) and quoted my a fair amount and most importantly, spoke to the quality of his work. Si came out to our place to install a wall mount TV, and he was very cordial and efficient. also, he gave me a free dvd player (a used one), cause our old one was broken. i guess they take used stuff from customers who are about to discard their old stuff, and then give them away to other folks. love it. i thought the service was a tad expensive, but he knows what he's doing, and it's hard labor doing this kind of stuff. it was worth the price since i wouldn't have been able to do it myself. read more

I was remodeling my home and due to unforeseen circumstances (crumbling lath and plaster walls) decided to go ahead and strip the house down to studs. I couldn't miss the opportunity to wire the house properly. I called Hidden Connections based on Yelp reviews I'd read. I could not have made a better choice. 1. Not only did Si from Hidden Connections listen to my cost constraints, but he came up with a plan that allowed me to work with my builder and electrician to wire the house. Si has remained incredibly flexible through the whole process. Normally they do all the wiring, fishing wires through walls but given my unique situation, Hidden Connections provided the materials and worked with my electrician to ensure it was wired correctly. 2. Technology keeps advancing. During the time it took to wire the house, finish the walls, etc., Si identified new technology at my price point that would allow me to control the volume throughout the house via remote (avoiding clunky controls installed on the wall). Not only was this preferable to me aesthetically but it was a VERY reasonable price solution. 3. My job site was robbed three times and I was eager to get an alarm system going as soon as the power was turned back on. This was surprisingly challenging given the incomplete state of my home. It required not only the cable company connection but the house wiring to be completed so the phones worked such that the alarm company could patch into the phone line. I called Hidden Connections at the last minute in a panic when I realized all the pieces were not in place and not only did Si come over that afternoon, but he sent a 2nd person, Jeff, so he could bring him up to speed on the project. Jeff came back the next day and was here when Comcast came. He helped ensure they set up the phone service despite the house being only half done. Comcast does not normally start service at a construction site. Jeff made sure the house wiring was complete and the patch was ready for the Alarm Company. He even labeled everything for them so it was a simple matter of patching into the line. With this effort I feel Hidden Connections really took customer service above and beyond. They understood how distressed I was about the robberies and wanted to make sure the site was secure as quickly as possible. Si was ready to put in surveillance cameras if I wanted them. 4. When the remodel was complete Si and Kevin came back and set everything up and I am beyond thrilled with my home theater and sound system. The entire project felt very reasonable to me and also feels very cutting edge. Kevin ensured the speakers were leveled correctly and the sound and picture was at its best. He figured out I had a defective HDMI cable box and stuck around while I went down and exchanged it to make sure the new one worked correctly. He even spent what I can only imagine was a frustrating amount of time trying to make my old dvd player's digital sound work correctly. They were happy to work with electronics I already owned saving me money. They made sure I understood how everything works and emphasized that I should not be shy about contacting them for additional help or instruction if I need it. 5. I wanted to wall mount a computer and had planned to do it myself or have my builder do it. At the last minute I engaged Hidden Connections for the job because I knew they would find the exact right wall mount and do a professional job. I really appreciate their willingness to work with my existing equipment. If you are considering any kind sound/theater system then by all means talk to Hidden Connections. Long story short, but we bought a new house in Walnut Creek that had a media center pre-installed by these guys. After we bought the house, we weren't entirely sure how to work the equipment and wanted to use some of our own equipment as well. These guys came out and spend a full day and a half for free to help set the house up the way we wanted it and teach us how to use it. I've been a client of Si Lewis and his Hidden Connections team for more than 10 years. I initially chose them at that time, in preference to two other bidding HD home theater vendors, for three primary reasons: 1) Flexibility in being willing to incorporate some of my older existing components (CD carousel, cassette tape deck, LP turntable, etc.) into the system, and the knowledge re how best to do so; 2) Reasonableness of terms... a reasonable down payment and final payment only upon my satisfaction with the completed job, as contrasted with both other vendors requiring full payment up front; and, 3) Willingness to work hard at recommending the best and most appropriate components for my particular room configuration, preferences, and budget. That first install job was done absolutely superbly in my 1940's-era home, with its lath-and-plaster walls and difficult-to-access attic and crawlspace areas for wiring. This project also included a complex two-way AV interface between the home theater system and a multimedia computer system and network in another room. Everything worked flawlessly from the get-go. Since that initial install, I've had Hidden Connections come back twice to do upgrades to the system, both of which were accomplished to my complete satisfaction. During all three of these projects, I was again and again impressed by Hidden Connections' professionalism, knowledge, and capabilities. And, wonder of wonders, all three of these projects - the initial install and the two upgrades - were accomplished on time and on budget. In marked contrast to the horror stories I've heard from friends re other home theater vendors, Si and his staff have excellent relations with Comcast's installers and tech staff, working cooperatively with them to deliver the best results for their mutual customers. From that first install many years ago and during every interaction since then, I've found Si to be absolutely trustworthy and reliable. And, in truly "above and beyond" fashion, Si has also over the years cheerfully and consistently provided me with reliable e-mail and phone counsel and advice for my do-it-yourself minor system upgrades and troubleshooting. He's highly supportive and responsive, and clearly always has his clients' best interests at heart. My most recent experience of this nature occurred just this week, when Si quickly solved a vexing problem I had been wrestling with for weeks, trying to integrate a latest-generation Blu-Ray player into my 10-year-old, non-HDMI system.
