    white moca coffee
    Max T.

finally got the chance to try this place and i liked it a lot! very small shop off of anaheim. We went later in the morning some of their pastries were sold out. opted for a coffee cake, a strawberry cream pastry and a cacccio pepe loaf for dinner. we got a mocha and a white mocha as well. Although i enjoyed the coffee i thought it was a little bit pricey for what it was. There was no wait and they were able to server us fast. Would go again but maybe just for the pastries next time

    An assortment of pastry goodness.

It's easy to support small businesses like this one when the products are just SO good. Fresh, tasty, fabulous breads and pastries...ahh, such is life. But do try to come early because things do sell out. I personally enjoyed their sausage rolls..flaky crust, juicy meat on the inside. Yum. Try whatever speaks to you though. And again, support small business!

    Salt bagel

All I wanted for Valentines was a good bagel and to support small businesses so today we went and got a mix of things and let me tell you it did not disappoint. We got the salt bagel, sesame bagel, corn cookie, croissant, and a levain loaf. My husband who doesn't like bagels loved the salt one and kept wanting more and now he wants to go back for more bagels. The corn cookie was also delish along with the rest. Can't wait to come back and try more. Hoping they bring bagels to the farmers markets soon.

I've tried Hey Brother at their new and official storefront twice now and let me say, that salt bagel will have me coming back each time. Everything is deliciously fresh and made with great ingredients. I didn't get a photo but their oatmeal cookie is also one of my favorites, it has pepitas and cherries which are great flavor additions. They lay all their options out on the table (literally) so you're able to see what they have absolve, if you don't see it, they likely sold out for the day. Tip! Try and go closer to opening for your best choice of options. The line moves pretty quickly so don't get discouraged if it seems long when you arrive. They also have a full coffee bar, which I have not yet tried but has some good options like a White mocha and orange mocha. Parking may be tricky as it's only street parking on Anaheim, if you go on weekend morning you'll be fine to get a spot.

Stopped by Hey Brother Baker after picking up a friend from Long Beach Airport and caught them during their soft opening -- love being early to a new spot before the hype fully hits. Vibe / Interior: Small but super cozy with limited seating -- it's mostly bakery (as it should be). I also loved that you can actually see everything laid out instead of the usual behind-glass display. It feels more casual + approachable. What We Ordered: Everything Bagel -- 10/10. Absolute star. Cream cheese is +$2 and the bagel wasn't sliced, so you'll need to DIY it. Spam croissant -- disappointing. The spam pieces were teeny tiny compared to what I expected. Pear + gruyère danish -- 10/10. So good I'd come back specifically for this. Service / Wait: We waited about 15 minutes on a Saturday morning. The line moved a bit slower since the menu/selection isn't really visible until you reach the front, so people take time deciding. Good For: Perfect for grab-and-go pastries for a small get-together, or picking up a loaf of bread to snack on all week. Price / Value: Pretty standard LA bakery pricing at this point (~$6-$8 per pastry). Next time I'm grabbing a loaf. Parking: We found street parking right out front, but most people seemed to park farther up the block. Pro Tip: Go early, grab the bagels to-go, and slice it at home for the full cream cheese moment.

This new bakery is in my neighborhood and I've been a couple times already. I tried a couple of their pastries and they all tasted pretty good and fresh. It's street parking only but I never had trouble finding a spot around the neighborhood. Very clean inside and plenty of seats and workers are nice. Highly recommend getting the morning bun or spam croissant!

    Black garlic levain

Tiny storefront, big personality. Tucked in a tiny space next to Pulp Fiction comics on Anaheim (good luck with parking!), this spot gets crowded quickly and sells out of some of their not-a-loaf offerings kinda fast on Saturday mornings. We've gone two weeks in a row, and the selection looked way different at 9am last week versus 10am this week. This is definitely a "the earlier the better" type of spot if you've got a particular pastry in mind. So far we have tried: Black Garlic Levain - Super seedy sourdough with big ol' hunks of sweet fermented garlic. It's as delicious and complex as it sounds. Butter Croissant - Watching my small child eat this is hysterical because it's almost as big as his head. He still managed to eat the whole thing though so it must have been good. Sausage Roll - Puff pastry hugging a dense chunk of sausage. Pretty sure it's a bratwurst hiding in there. Whatever it is, it's filling! Curry Potato - Carb on carb action, it's another puff pastry only this time it's folded over mild Japanese-style curry potatoes, carrot, and onion . The curry flavor is rich with no heat, and is slightly sweet from carrots mixed in. Hey Sister White Mocha - It sounded super promising with the whole pink peppercorn and lemon zest, but in all honesty it was just fine. Perhaps because I got it iced? I'm not sure. Like others have said, they haven't quite nailed their espresso machine just yet. --- TLDR; Delicious but limited, so the earlier the better.

    Sweet Corn Cookie

This place is close to our apt. It just opened up and they're still going through their soft opening. Before the Christmas break, we decided to check it out. It's a small place with some seating and fresh artwork on the wall. People line up and you walk by the bread they bake fresh every day. We chose a baguette, Black Garlic levain, pain au chocolate, sweet bun and two cookies. The baguette was crispy perfect. After slicing some pieces off, we spread some butter on a piece and went to work. The center was chewy and soft, the crisp outside was beautiful. The sweet corn cookie was like a sugar cookie and cornbread coming together to make something great. The same can be said of the sweet bun. As if a croissant and cinnamon roll got together and made this one. The pain au chocolate was terrific. We split it in half and it looked like they stuck a chocolate bar in the center. It was perfectly rectangular. We haven't gotten to the levain but our idea involves grilled cheese on an everything bread. Should be great.

Saw this little bakery on my way to work and stopped by. It's been in this spot for about 4 months and it says soft opening outside. The staff told me they have been around for 4 years at farmers markets and stuff. Glad to see them in a brick and mortar cuz their pastries were delicious!! Tried the ham and cheese and Swiss onion knot and both were divine. Flaky buttery and just the right amount of flavor. Coffee was good but not a+ but still a decent coffee. I also got the Cacio Pepe loaf to go and can't wait to try it. Cute decor and the windows are lined up with seats so you can enjoy your pastry and coffee Instore. Staff wasn't the friendliest that morning but she seemed tired maybe. It's a Friday. She humored my questions about the place anyway. Would still highly recommend this place

    Pain au chocolat
    Sally W.

I'm excited for this new phase for Hey Brother Baker! They crush it at the bread game, and I also really like their cookies. On this first visit to their brick-and-mortar bakery, I tried the pain au chocolate and an extra hot latte. The pain au chocolat didn't crunch when I bit into it (maybe because of the weather?), but I appreciated the placement of the chocolate in the pastry. Can't wait to start picking up bread regularly here! Very minimal seating indoors. Definitely not a place to linger for long.

    Coffee Menu -- March 2026
    Alyeska G.

Can't wait to go back! Great food, great service and the vibes are vibing. Plenty of street parking. Service was great: super friendly & welcoming! They sell out on weekends of most of their sweet treats by 10 am. Will be back for the loaves. Sea Salt Bagel w/ homemade cream cheese -- tasted a bit like a pretzel as if it was a sourdough one. By the end, the salt had overstayed its welcome maybe needed a tad less. The bread itself was the perfect amount of chewy, fluffy and airy. The cream cheese is the star. It's perfect. Coffee Cake -- moist, semi-sweet and dense. Great crumble on top. Perfect with a coffee or milk. Corn Cookie -- tasted like a sugar cookie. No prominent corn flavor. Chocolate Chip Sea Salt -- top tier. This is soo good. Not a soft cookie but one of the more sturdier ones that have a bite to them. Wish it had a more even distribution of salt but otherwise solid! Tasted like dark chocolate so perfect for those without a sweet tooth. Butter Croissant -- least fav thing on the menu. Consider myself a croissant connoisseur and this was lacking. Had a bitter after taste, a bit dry and not fluffy. Strawberry 'n Cream Jammy Pocket -- flaky, sweet but not overly so. If you're a fan of the texture of a croissant this is for you.

    Ruby M.

I'm glad I came to visit this bakery, you can tell that everything is made in house. The chocolate croissant had lots of layers & had three chocolate batons (!!!) in it, which I loved. Americano drink was solid, also got a latte which wasn't too sweet. I went towards the afternoon, so they were sold out of some items. Wish they would stock up on the baguettes & bagels a little more so I could have tried them - maybe next time!

    Ann N.

Spam croissant was fantastic- very generous serving of spam to pastry ratio. The flakiness of the pastry and the flavor was soooo buttery and delicious. 10/5 Potato pastry thingy for St patty's was good- sauce for the filling was good, not salty or savory. Just good overall. 3/5 Apple Goat cheese danish is to die for. Again layers of buttery pastry was incredible. There was an oat crumble on top that was sweet and crunchy, perfect pairing for the goat cheese and baked apple. 10/5 I cannot wait for this bakery to be fully open and on Sunday's. This place will be my new go-to because the flavors taste better than Gusto so far. ‼They need to start putting pricing for full transparency. Expect to pay $6-8 per pastry. Haven't gotten loaves yet as I was afraid they were going to be $15-$20 per loaf Hear me out- SKIP THE COFFEE‼‼ I had the white chocolate latte. Paid $7 for it and I couldn't get through it halfway so I was pissed because it was my work coffee that was supposed to get me through the day. Dried orange slices and peppercorns have no business in that cup. Truly gross but my fault for wanting to try something different.

This time (yesterday), however, was not nearly the same experience. First of all, I realized we couldn't book a table for 8 people, so me and my friends book 2 tables for 8.30PM. I called asking if it's possible to put our tables together close or side by side, they said they will try their best. We all showed up at 8.30 and waited until around 9-9.15 because they only had 1 table ready. Ok. Come the time the other table opened and it's not even that close to each other. But it's okay, I respect the limitations on this part. No one came to us to take our order or even give us water until way later, and we got our drinks at 9.45. Another critique is that my friend called and ask how much corkage fee and they said $25. It turned out to be $40. Another disappointment, but it's ok. Not much can be done bout that part. Next thing is the food. We enjoyed the fried green beans. Crudo was really really salty, and it's not only 1 person thought that. We wondered if the kitchen mistakenly salted the fish twice. We enjoyed the peach salad. We ordered a few different pasta and the tagliatelle in particular was disappointing. It really lacked flavor that we had to mix the other pasta dish sauce to it. The pork plate was good, a bit small but we enjoyed it. Now the mussles and frites were disappointing too. The sauce just didn't do it for me (other friends agreed). I always talked really highly about Nonna Mercato (I also enjoyed the brunch so much) and always told people that this is one of my most favorite restaurants in Long Beach, but this one really missed the mark for me and my friends. I don't know if this would make us want to go to Summer Nights again next time. For $130 per person (after tax, tip, and corkage fees), I definitely hoped for a much better experience.

Our favorite is the chocolate concha. It is crisp, fresh, and has the slightest sourdough flavor. I tried the dona one time and while it was great. It was just too much for me. What I love about this place is that everything is balanced. Its not too much of anything just perfect. The concha isn't too sweet. It's balanced by the sourdough which is complex. I have brought these to events and they are always a hit. They do have more than just empanadas. The pastries are quite good, as is the coffee options, sandwiches, etc. Consistency has been king here!! They had a super crunchy texture with a nice coating of bread crumbs. I would order these again. Also had to try some empanadas since those are what they are known for. The empanadas are made from scratch on flour dough and served with spicy mayo and mild green salsa on the side. I was amazed at the wide variety of flavors they had on display. Their best seller, the beef empanada, was very flavorful and juicy. As for the chicken empanada, one of the most popular options, it was rich and creamy. Although the fillings were great, I thought the crust was too dry. I would skip these next time. The breakfast burrito was pretty good and comforting to eat. It was packed with scrambled eggs, onions, sausage, fries, mozzarella cheese, creamy cilantro sauce, and chipotle mayo. The ratio was just right. I enjoyed the combination of all the ingredients. In addition to savory goods, they offer plenty of sweets, pastries, and beverages. Make sure to look out for deals that they may have going on. If you buy a dozen empanadas, you can get 2 additional ones for free. They even have loyalty rewards you can sign up for.
