They let us try our our horrible French & they were very patient with our horrible accents. Recommended a delicious wine to pair with our fondue. And while the fondue was about to run out, our server asked if we wanted an egg to pick up the crusty bits still stuck to the pot & we had never heard of this but man, oh man did it work. That egg picked up the crusty bits ( which everyone knows is the best part of the fondue). We will definitely do this for all our home-fondues going forward. Thank you for the idea! Paired the cheesy delight with their garlic potatoes & we had comfort food & happy bellies. Huge fans!

I am SO glad that the door was actually open, and that the staff laughed with us about the misunderstanding once we got inside because our experience here was amazing. Sandra and her husband, whose name I did not get, are the owners of this great restaurant and, if I remember correctly, they have been in Bordeaux for upwards of 20 years. Their restaurant is a small, cozy place that's filled with interesting things. My favorite thing about the whole place is the lamps are strapped to the walls rather than hanging from the ceiling- just thought it added a little quirkiness. But enough about the place itself and onto the food. When we were ordering Sandra told us that she makes a mean fondue and boy was she telling the truth. It was by far the best fondue I've ever had. It was creamy and rich and all around perfect. We also had a raclette which was and experience I didn't think I'd ever actually have (if you do not know what this is, find a video, you will not regret it) . Both types of melted cheese were self-serve and we put them on top of different slices of meat that came in nicely arranged plates as well as on bread and potatoes. It was all beyond delicious. THEN on top of all of that, we got dessert. I had the creme brulee which was insanely good... may have been my favorite creme brulee that I had on our whole 10 day trip. My dad got the blueberry creme brulee which was also equally great. Overall, our experience at La Petite Savoie was incredible. It's intimate and charming and the service is great. But - when they brought a menu of additional choices, almost all of which included cheese, I changed my mind. My wife and I started with a sampling of 10 cheeses. It was fabulous, and it was a sizable serving. Those 10 pieces of cheese amounted to approximately 3/4 pound. Had we known in advance, we would have ordered one "appetizer," also to share, and left full and happy. However, we each ordered a main - my wife the omelet and me the roasted Camembert with charcuterie. Throw in a few roasted potatoes and several bacon wrapped prunes along with the 4-5 oz wheel of roasted/melted cheese and you have a lunch to die for. The service was spectacular, as well. Our server, very polite, very personable, and very competent, recommended a wine to accompany each of our dishes. The wines were excellent. As others have commented, the restaurant is very small and very welcoming. Being our first trip to Bordeaux, it was obviously our first time in this restaurant. We are going on a river cruise this afternoon, returning in a week with one other full day in Bordeaux. Guess where we're eating. Again.

But don't just look at the menu and order your excellent cut of beef. Go inside and take a look at the menu in the case in front of you or hanging behind.I had the shower lay beef cut of 450 g. It is the best steak in town but you pay for the quality in the price. Not an ideal spot for a first date, you sit at very long table with other people. It's really designed for serious meat eating and a few sneaky beers. If you want good steak eat here.

I only asked because my wife was tired and didn't want to go out so I had to improvise! I just had to agree to bring the plate back. My faith in humanity has been restored! Update- the meal was awesome! I took the washed plate back within 20 minutes and the chef thought I had not had enough food so he turned on a blow dryer to stoke the coals on his grill and cooked a rare steak with all the fixin's for me!
