No complaints there. The cake is fine as well. But this place is just too small. The interior looks like the living room of a family with way too many kids, and on popular hours the place is always full. Which is probably good for business, but it doesn't invite you to spend a longer time here with a newspaper and a good book - which is what I want of a coffee bar. You can't concentrate and due to the small size of the bar you're always anxious to make space for newcomers. Want to grab a quick cup of good coffee: this is the perfect place. Spot a free place on terrace on a nice day to sit outside: also perfect. But to relax and read a book I would absolutely avoid this place.

The best is their brunch formula on Saturday mornings, which is €18 for a delicious all you can eat buffet with a weekly changing selection of breads, salads, antipasti, quiche, etcetera. (Make sure to reserve in advance.) They use mostly organic products that are sourced from local producers (short chain concept), which is another plus. Long day exploring Aalst. We arrived this morning after flying all night but wanted to explore the…read morecity. One beer before we pass out and hit the sack. I was in search of a glass of fresh Orval Trappist Ale. I walk into the bar before sitting down and ask the water if they have Orval, he ignored me and walked around me and scoffed. A few minutes later, he walks back in and assigns someone else to help me. I've been to Belgium 10 times in the last 6 years and as an American who doesn't speak Dutch of French, I understand being handed off to someone who is okay at English as their 2nd language. This lad was helpful and brought out an Orval. My GF literally passing out at her chair asks me if we could head home to finally get some sleep. I take my 5 Euro bill to the water who helped me, he gives me a dollar change. As I walk out in French, Mr. Ornery says "Only one beer. PFFT Americans" and throws the receipt on the floor. Insensitive uptight douchebaggery from this guy. I literally just flew in this morning and wanted a beer. Screw off.
